The property

This upside down cottage is a wonderful base for a family holiday on the private shared Merewood Lodge site at Ecclerigg, equidistant between Windermere and Ambleside.

Steps lead up to the property, and inside to the entrance hall where you will feel the warmest of welcomes, that leads through to the wonderful open-plan sitting room.

Sit back and relax in the comfortable leather sofas.

The dining area is situated in the corner of the layout, and a stylish kitchen lies off from this.

From the hall, stairs take you down to the ground floor, with three bedrooms; a twin, a single, and a king size with an en-suite and a family bathroom.

Spend time outside on the secluded private walled patio, perhaps with a cold drink, or dine there in the warmer weather as you plan your day ahead.

There are numerous local walks from the property including those via the bridle path next to the site leading towards Troutbeck for walks on Wansfell, and to Kirkstone, Ambleside, Holehird Gardens and Orrest Head, to mention just a few.

The property benefits from being just a few minutes’ walk to Brockhole on Windermere, the Lake District Visitor Centre.

The facilities at Brockhole include, a day time café, gardens, exhibitions, watersports, pony rides, gift shop, Treetop Trek zip wire and Treetop Nets, archery, boat hire, bike hire, mini golf, adventure playground and trails and orienteering.

There is a ticket office at Brockhole Pier and boats call there to take you to and from Ambleside and elsewhere on the lake.

There are convenient bus stops at the end of the lane to take you North to Ambleside and beyond and South to Windermere and beyond.

Having bus and boat transport on the doorstep allows you to leave the car, avoid finding parking spaces and enjoy your holiday using public transport.

What's more, Lake Windermere boasts a range of activities, including trips to the famous aquarium and the renowned Grizedale Forest Park, whilst Ullswater, Kendal, Keswick and the Lakeland Mountains are all within easy reach.

The bustling towns of Windermere and Ambleside are close by, providing a range of amenities including shops, pubs, restaurants and cafes.

Children will enjoy the World of Beatrix Potter in nearby Bowness, where technology brings her characters to life.

With all these facilities nearby this is an ideal location for exploring all that the region has to offer.
