  • "Really enjoyed our stay over New Year."

Mrs Tiggy Winkles is in a well situated location in Windermere. We enjoyed a walk into Bowness on Windermere on several occasions. We even managed breakfast outside using the outdoor garden set. The setting is very well equipped, comfortable and homely.

Excellent as always. Great accommodation with everything you need, and the perfect location for amenities.

  • "Lovely well decorated flat in a great location to access the Windermere restaurants and shops."

Flat benefits from its own parking space but beware of very tight entrance to parking due to scaffolding for the building next door. Flat well equipped but has a few maintenance issues like outside light not working, flashing light in ensuite and the TV remote needs replacing as not all the buttons work reliably. First Sykes cottages we have booked that doesn't have any welcome pack. Sykes please note that your description says 15min walk to the lake at Bowness. It is more like 30mins as it is over a mile away.

Would be happy to stay again.Parking is quite tricky as entrance is quite narrow if you have a larger vehicle Couple of very minor points that we found . The TV remote doesnt work very well on lot of the functions had to use controls on the set. Very little washing up liquid was there on our visit and showers would benefit from supplying shower gels . Minor points though and we very much enjoyed the location and the apartment which is nicely furnished and equipped

It is in an excellent location with several pubs and restaurants nearby and within walking distance to Bowness on Windermere where there are further restaurants. We used the excellent bus service and the bus station is just 5 minutes walk from the cottage. We enjoyed our stay so much we have booked it again for next year.

  • "The cottage was (is!"

!) perfect. The only thing we missed was a coffee machine. I understand that the English are more used to instant coffee, so maybe it's logical. But in the Netherlands, where we come from, in every holiday home there is a coffee machine (preferrably a Nespresso, but maybe that's very uncommon in England). Other than this, Mrs Tiggywinkles is a perfect accomodation.

  • "Clean, comfortable, quiet flat in an ideal location just off the main road."

We've no actual complaints - but felt that for a ten night, four-figure cost stay we could have had another toilet roll and another towel. We've stayed in lots of self-catering properties over the last years and this is the first time that there was no sort of 'welcome' which we thought was unusual. Even a packet of biscuits and a 'have a nice stay' just makes you feel welcome. However, we'd really recommend the property and we had a wonderful holiday seeing the lakes at their very best. One other wee point, directions provided are given from the south and it would be good to be advised on the best approach from the north too. Many thanks.

  • "The electric wall heaters in the lounge were controlled by the owner on her mobile phone."

She kept turning the temperature down on them and sometimes off completely. We had to telephone her numerous times and ask her to turn the heating on or up, because the room was freezing. It was snowing outside when we were staying there. The Lake District can still be extremely cold even in the summer. The broadband service was so erratic and slow it would not allow Netflix or iPlayer to operate, so the tv was useless. We ended up using our own Vodafone data for the internet. The amount of stairs you have to climb from the front door up to the bedroom is 28, which is even a struggle for someone who is fairly fit. They provided us with one small bath and hand towel each for two weeks holiday, which is really penny-pinching, considering that there is no washing machine in the apartment to wash laundry. The property comes with an allocated parking space, which is ideal in the centre of Windermere. The apartment is located in the centre of Windermere, with shops, restaurants and pubs right on your doorstep. The lounge and bedrooms were decorated to a good standard with very nice furnishings. The kitchen was well equipped with everything required for cooking and eating.

Thank you for your comments and review, I appreciate your feedback and sorry to hear of your experience, unfortunately the heating system is new and I am still getting to grips with setting these radiators up and technical issues. On meeting you I turned them to manual so you had full range of use and explained this , I left my number for this reason. Regarding the wifi this is with BT and have never had any issues before but thank you for bringing this to my attention. The stairs are part of the property as described on the Website. regards Mrs Bell (Owner) Property Owner

Absolutely clean and comfortable, we have stayed here previously about 4 years ago, my wife was a little better with her mobility, but more recently it has really got much worse, and the stairs really took it out of her and she was really struggling to walk as she needs use of a wheelchair to get about, unfortunately she was in so much pain, we decided to cut short our stay and after just two days we came back home on Monday morning

The accommodation was excellent so clean and tidy and comfortable and the views from lounge and main bedroom was lovely. There was everything we needed and quiet too. Would also recommend Brambles cafe across the road from entrance best breakfast we have ever had and staff so very nice. We would so recommend a stay at Mrs Tiggywinkles could not fault a thing and will stay there again for sure. We took the car but travelled most places on the bus so much easier than finding places to park and bus service was excellent. Fabulous weeks holiday.

A lovely clean property. Just a couple of gripes, the basin in the ensuite is far to small to even clean your teeth as you can't get your head under the cabinet. Also the window catches in lounge and bedroom need some attention as difficult to open and shut should there be a fire.

Hard to find . Not for people with big cars as entrance really tiny . Property had two big flights of stairs which wasn’t stated in advert . We rarely used the car which we often do when staying more out in the sticks. Would recommend the bus service, especially the 599 (I think it was) to Grasmere. You can hop on and hop off at various stops including Ambleside. The Burritos restaurant / takeaway is really nice and only a few doors down. Would also recommend the Magic Wok. Location is excellent, just off the Main Street but set back in a court, so you get the benefits of being really central without the traffic noise. Property was clean and well set up with everything we needed for a short stay, including a hairdryer - this wasn’t listed on the information about the property so we weren’t sure whether to pack one or not, would be helpful to detail that it is available to help people like us who were travelling by train and trying to pack light. Provision of OS maps and walking route info was helpful (although it wasn’t the weather for us to use them).

  • "The directions should be updated."

“Cinderella Me” is now “Lakeland Retreats” and Morrison’s is now Sainsbury’s. I drove around the one way system 3 or 4 times before I spotted the entrance to College Court! The accommodation itself was lovely - comfortable and clean, well equipped and excellent location. Maybe not suitable for young families due to the internal staircases and cream sofas! The provision of only one parking space could be an issue for some guests because the only option was to park on the street and there are parking restrictions between 9am and 6pm. I had a friend stay for one night. She moved her car into one of the empty spaces in college court for 5-10 minutes to unload and immediately one of the permanent residents came out to tell her she couldn’t park there. The same happened when she did the same to pack the car. Also, it might be useful for guests to be aware that if you wish to eat out in Windermere, you will need to book well in advance! I tried to make reservations a week before our trip at the beginning of September and was told by more than one that they were fully booked until mid-October. Takeaway was difficult too, with two Chinese restaurants closed.

++ Location in Windermere is perfect as it's in the center of the village but set back from the street so it's quiet and has lovely views of the hills. Parking space is allocated which is great to have in busy Windermere though access would be difficult for big cars. Facilities are great. -- Upstairs bathroom has a very small sink and limited space. Curtains in main room are quite light and thin, not great for people like us who want a dark room for sleeping in. Sofa in the lounge could do with replacing as it felt itchy

Directions mention ‘Cinderella Me’ they are no longer in operation now a holiday letting place, so missed the turning. Great access to all amenities without being on the main road.
