  • "Excellent property, we had a great week and couldn’t fault Parkgate."

    Would definitely recommend.

  • "Fantastic property for a large group of people."

Very well equipped with everything you need. Had an issue with the washing machine not locking however after reporting, we received new towels (same day) and was advised a replacement would be fitted the following day, without disrupting our holiday. Would happily stay here again

  • "Fantastic property, well located, comfortable and equipped with everything we needed."

We were 6 adults and 2 children and there was plenty of room to accommodate everyone. In particular the basement was great for the kids to play in on the rainy days with absolutely tons of games, books and DVDs to choose from. Any issues noted in previous reviews regarding cleaning and kitchen equipment seemed to have been resolved.

  • "The beds and pillows were not comfortable and definitely needed new pillows."

We did not sleep well. The whole house needed a good clean. The oven was dirty and the tray had not been cleaned. Needed some more kitchen implements and some more matching glasses (random selection of non matching and most items were worn down and damaged. No kitchen scissors either. The baths and shower had not been cleaned very well. The shower in the attic did not drain. Old dirty mop outside and could have done with a good clean. There were no pegs for the washing line. Downstairs basement toilet seat was broken. Definitely could not relax in the outside patio as the conservatory was filthy, the sliding doors dirty and no outdoor seating and was not a place to relax whilst looking at the neighbours mattress in their back garden.

  • "The kitchen/conservatory/outside space were all filthy."

Despite numerous emails and phone calls to Sykes, and an email to the Managing Director, still no-one has responded, over two weeks later. The service from Sykes was appalling, would never book with them again.

Can’t complain and we definitely want to stay again!

  • "The house was a great family retreat."

Had everything we needed and more. Stacks of games, home Cinema with a ton of movies, huge kitchen, bbq, 5 good bedrooms, with the option to use the second living room as a bedroom if needed as the sofa was a pull out bed. Was perfect for us.

  • "Thanks very much for a lovely stay."

We had to cut our stay short due to bad news at home. We tried our best to leave the house presentable given the quick nature of having to leave. The house is comfortable and clean with lovely decor and great facilities, but If I could give any feedback it would be that the lick of paint out front would do the inside more justice and the yard out back tidied up and a plaque with the house name out front. Great location and would defo return.

Disappointing outdoor area - photos made it look bigger than it was They could do with updating the sofas which were saggy Other than that the house was amazing with plenty of everything as there were 7 in our party and the sauna was well used by the males in our party

The facilities were amazing and made the stay all the better. I have already recommended the property to several of my friends especially for larger parties. Parkgate gives you the space and comfort to have a truly enjoyable break.

Only criticism more toilet roll please. One between 6 (on the first floor) isnt enough. Location is great and we will definitely use again when we return to Windermere.

  • "The house is incredible."

Really well located in windermere and plenty of shops close by for food shopping. House was very well laid out and rooms were beautiful. One thing I would say is that the bunk beds are more for children or short adults. No real storage space in this room either but plenty of other rooms to store things. Overall this house was perfect and definitely would book again.

They provided everything you can think of for a family holiday, lots of board games to keep everyone entertained and big enough to have that little bit privacy. Overall a fantastic cottage for a big family.

  • "The house is lovely and well equipped BUT the limited access to hot water was a BIG problem and took 4 days of phoning to be sorted."

This property is expensive to hire in the high season and hot water is required during the day for many reasons. Our young people had to have cold showers when they came in from activities and this is unacceptable. Unless the owner agrees NOT to do this again, as he has control through an app, this property is NOT suitable for the majority of families for example, families with babies and toddlers need access to hot water, active people need showers after a day outdoors participating in activities that the Lakes are renowned for and anyone elderly or with certain disabilities may also require access to hot water . The water problem is the reason why I have marked this property so low and that is a great shame as it would have been scored highly if that had not happened.

  • "Hi cottage was in a good location, cleanliness ok apart from second floor bathroom."

Not enough glasses in kitchen and the ones that were there were chipped. Beds need two pillows per person. Couldn’t use “adult size” bunk beds very unstable and difficulty to get in for a fully grown adult, however found the sofa bed and used that instead. Heating didn’t appear to be working Sunday pm but unsure of using the hive system?? Price expensive for the quality of the house have paid less for higher spec and comfort. We did have an amazing weekend but wouldn’t use that house again. First time that we used Skye’s we usually use lakelovers.

The house exceeded expectations with enough room for ten adults to live comfortably for a week. The basement den with brand new sauna is a fantastic edition to the house. High end oven and dishwasher along with plenty of cutlery and crockery. Parking was not an issue for five cars with one permit and plenty of free parking in surrounding streets. You won’t be disappointed if you book this lovely holiday home and we will definitely use it again. Thank you.

The location was perfect enabling us to visit both Winderemere and Bowness. I was surprised to learn there was in fact a sauna in the cottage that hadn't been advertised as a feature, wasn't sure if this was deliberate but would of been good to know and we could of taken appropriate clothing. We would definitely stay here again.
