“Super disappointed with the state of the property we booked (which was meant to be 5 star) for the reasons we have already discussed in detail with you.”

The service we have had has been poor and we are left feeling that Sykes really doesn’t care at all about it’s customers. We will definitely never book with Sykes again and will tell as many people as possible about the horrific experience we have had with Sykes.

The property

Nestled in the heart of the quaint town of Windermere, a stone's throw away from the largest lake in England, rests this striking holiday home, Riggbank.

Towering over four floors and offering a homely interior, Riggbank is perfectly positioned for your next group adventure to the Lake District.

Kick off your muddy boots as you step over the threshold and into a delightful hallway space, providing handy storage for your walking gear away from the main living areas, before continuing through to the open-plan living/dining room.

The sociable space is beautifully-appointed with a contemporary décor and flooded with natural light welcomed in through the traditional bay windows, providing a lovely space to put your feet up for a moment of peace in front of the television, warming the room with the glow of the electric fire in the cooler evenings.

Head through to the adjoining galley-style kitchen where the designated chef can rustle up some tasty treats for the group, making use of all of the modern amenities provided, before gathering your loved ones around the grand dining table to serve your culinary delights.

If you're lucky enough to experience the warmer weather, step outside and enjoy a leisurely seat on the patio, toasting a glass of fizz to an unforgettable holiday as you soak in the hot tub and enjoy the peaceful setting of the private space.

After an evening al-fresco, you can head back inside and descend the stairs to the lower-ground-floor where you'll find an inviting snug, perfect to escape the excitement and enjoy an hour of peace and quiet as you delve into a captivating book or let the children enjoy their own space with the PS4 Pro.

When sleep calls, you're spoilt for choice between four thoughtfully laid out bedrooms, a spacious king-size serviced by a neighbouring shower room settled on the lower-ground-floor, a double, benefiting from it's own en-suite, alongside a twin room resting on the first-floor and a further double room tucked under the intimate setting of the sloped ceiling on the second floor, with access to it's own en-suite bathroom boasting an elegant freestanding bath.

Completing the property is a stylish bathroom fit with a bath and a walk-in shower resting on the first-floor, giving guests the choice between enjoying a leisurely soak amongst the bubbles or a quick morning rinse.

Take a break from doing the cooking and take the short stroll into the centre of Windermere to treat your loved ones to a heart-warming meal at one of the many eateries that line the streets, quaint cafes, fancy restaurants and traditional country pubs, serving something to suit everyone.

Head to the twin town of Bowness where you'll find a lively atmosphere, boasting a fabulous selection of pubs and bars, promising a fantastic night on the town.

Keep entertained by exploring the fascinating interactive exhibitions on display at The World of Beatrix Potter Attraction or tackle the thrilling adventure course through the woodland at Treetop Lake District.

Lace up your walking boots and head off on foot to explore the varying landscapes of the picturesque Lake District National Park, boasting a plethora of cycling, walking and hiking routes, passing through open moorland, towering fells and marvellous stretches of water; avid outdoor adventurers can tackle the challenging climb to the summit of Scafell Pike, the highest mountain in England.

The vibrant market town of Kendal is within easy reach, where you can enjoy a spot of window shopping at the many boutique and high-street stores, test your swing with a game at Carus Green Golf Course & Driving Range and discover the local history on display at Kendal Museum.

Whether you're looking to unwind or experience adventure, Riggbank offers an idyllic base that you'll be delighted to return to.
