  • "The property was listed as having wifi and tv, which was not the case (tv didn’t work and there was no wifi)."

Requested that dishes were washed before we leave, but no dishwashing liquid was provided. 2 toilet rolls for 6 people was a bit too little

  • "Fantastic location and a really good redesign of the property."

First impressions are wow this is super modern and looks great. We stayed for a week however and the more I looked the more I noticed how tired the property had become. Scrapes to the cabinets, marks on walls and stains on carpets. Also a layer of grime in crevices in bathrooms and kitchen. On arrival I found unwashed utensils in the cutlery drawer. On leaving I checked all the drawers and under sofa cushions (having kids they like to squirrel toys everywhere) and was quite disgusted to find a pair of socks in a bedroom drawer, 1 random sock and a whole array of crumbs and bits that make me feel queasy under the sofa cushions. I would think hoovering this would be a bare minimum considering how easily the cushions came off the sofa. Needs a professional to come in and give it a deep clean. The bed in the bedroom next to the bathroom was as bumpy as the surrounding area. It was incredibly uncomfortable and needs a replacement mattress at the very least. I was surprised that there wasn't a dishwasher considering how much kitchen cabinet storage there was. It would really add to the property. The carpets in the hall and master bedroom were essentially made from coir matting and really hurt the feet if you didn't wear socks. When we first arrived at the property there was a sheet with instructions for sky tv which stated there was no WIFI at the property. As the listing stated that there was, it meant that I had to ring the sykes rep which wasn't a great customer experience when you have just driven across the country. The rep couldn't get hold of anyone for me but whilst on hold we found a little cupboard under the TV and the wifi box was hidden at the back with the password. We are not sure whether this was purposely hidden or not but we used it anyway considering WIFI availability was one of the key deciders for booking the property. Coop and sainsburys a 2 minute walk down the road. Good parking at the back. Quiet area day and night. Italian, Indian, Greggs, Coffee shops and Chinese restaurants a 3 min walk away. We found the walk down to the lake too much for 2 kids under 5 so we caught the bus back instead, from the lakeside to the Windermere library (5 min stroll to bus stop and £2 for the adults single journey). Overall I think with a deep clean and a few replacements this property is a fantastic place to use as a base to stay in the lakes.

  • "Despite free wifi being advertised, there was no wifi at all."

Very dissappointed by this (and used up all of my data for the month). Welcome pack in property states 'there is no wifi in this property' (i have a picture of this). Beds really uncomfortable, one held up with wooden blocks and other matress had huge lumps and bumps in it, didnt have a decent nights sleep the whole week. Other than that it was clean, modern and a pleasant stay but wouldnt return due to wifi and beds. Would also reccommend bowness as a better location, not much happening in windermere

  • "The accommodation is well appointed and in a good location close to amenities."

However we felt the accommodation had not been thoroughly cleaned when we arrived. Floors were dusty, one towel was covered in make up, carpets had not been hoovered. The walls of the property were covered in marks especially going up the stairs which didn’t make any difference to our stay but made the property look uncared for. In general is was a litttle rough around the edges.

  • "It is quite an unassuming place from the outside, in a block of holiday home flats, but it is so lovely on the inside."

We had a great time, the facilities were perfect (there is no dishwasher however) and the flat was very clean. The location is perfect, it's a 4 minute walk into Windermere and to the shops / restaurants / cafes and about 30 minutes to Bowness-on-Windermere where you can rent boats on the lake. We were a group of 5 and would definitely stay there again! Thank you!

  • "Apartment had a well equipped kitchen, although a few more mugs would have been appreciated."

The constant hot water and big fluffy towels were really appreciated The stairs up to the front door were much steeper than I had anticipated The back bedroom had not been vacuumed prior to our arrival My main complaint was the state of the beds. I had not slept well, but it was not until we were leaving and checked under the beds to ensure we were not leaving anything behind that I realised why. The bed in the back bedroom was held up by blocks of wood in the centre. There were also broken slats on the bed in the front double bedroom

We would like to thank you for your feedback and bringing this to our attention. We would like to apologise for the inconvenience and assure this has since been resolved. Had you notified us during your stay we would have been more than happy to rectify the issues you have raised. Kind regards, Lakes Cottage Holidays. Property Owner

  • "The apartment has a great location in the heart of Windermere."

It is comfortable and well appointed. We particularly loved the kitchen and the coffee table books that we could browse through. Rooms were clean and comfortable and the TV is really huge.

  • "Well, this was the best holiday ever."

We've travelled many times in the UK, but there is something so magical about the Lake District. Accommodation was very comfortable and had been decorated to a very high standard. Nearby, there is always something to do, such as the Lake District River Cruises., Horse riding and Escape Rooms. We tried Lakeland Pony Trekking at Lime Fitt - it was one of the most amazing experiences ever with such a beautiful backdrop and lambs grazing within feet of your ride. We also tried the Cliffhanger Escape Rooms - great for team building and we escaped the Pharoahs Curse too. Nearby is Ambleside where you will find a gorgeous little chocolate shop - still hand making chocolates today. Then there are larger towns of Kendal nearby with Keswick also not that far away. Our accommodation was within a couple of streets from the town centre so you can get everything from gifts, to conveniences, chemists and eateries/pubs. Fish and Chips really tasty and lots of clean and pretty areas to explore. I loved every minute of this holiday and even though we booked with Sykes back in July 2018 when we went to Cornwall, in my opinion, this holiday to the Lake District was even better. A great getaway for anyone who works hard and really needs a break.

  • "The apartment was very nice inside, although i would not class it as 100% child friendly."

There were no stair gates for our 18 month old, so we had to constantly watch her like a hawk. Also within the bathroom, the shower screen was not water tight, and did not contain the water very well when using the shower. I think that there should be reference made in the listing to the steep steps leading into the property, as this would not be ideal for the less mobile. On the whole though a very nice apartment.

  • "Had a lovely holiday and it’s a great apartment, however we were disappointed with the cleanliness of the apartment."

There were complimentary jam and marmalade’s but they had been opened already and used, and not replaced. The sofa also had lots of crumbs and dirt on, and the carpets could have done with a good hoover. It felt like the cleaning was a bit rushed.

  • "We had a lovely stay."

The apartment is in a brilliant location and really well appointed. Not what we were expecting from the outside but beautiful inside. Beds are really comfy and there is everything you could need. For those with children there is a great park two minutes walk away on park avenue and plenty of shops, cafes, restaurants within easy walking distance. There is sky but it is a basic package and can’t watch on demand without WiFi so might be better to have WiFi and just use the smart tv. We would return.

We did have trouble getting the hob to work so it may be worth checking out and if everything is fine, leave some instructions for use. Didn't effect us as we only had breakfast and ate out as we had planned.
