  • "My family and I had a wonderful stay at Valley view lodge over Christmas."

The lodge was so comfortable and well equipped, it was a pleasure to stay there. This was by far the best lodge that we have stayed at on Limefitt park so far and we are very grateful to the lovely owners for the thought and time that they put into making the lodge such a warm and inviting place to stay. We would love to return again soon

We were very anxious that any accomodation we book would be clean and a lovely stress free place to stay. The lodge was even better than the pictures and my wife summed it up when she said "WOW" several times upon entering. My wife is quite discerning with holiday accomodation so this is high praise indeed! It was clear that the owners take a lot of pride in this beautiful lodge. Even small things like Netflix being available on TV made it feel like home from home, but with fantastic scenery everywhere. We had a lovely stress free week with temps in the mid 20's We will definitely return and would definitely recommend to others.

It was cozy, spacious, comfortable, homey, and relaxing with modern decor. The veranda was spacious with amazing views. If we go back to the Lake District, this would be the only lodge we would book. Beds are comfortable, shower is amazing with no problems with hot water. Highly recommend this lodge. • "Valley View Lodge - Great Lodge but, needs Improving Limefitt Park is quiet, relaxed and has a nice atmosphere."

. There are walks you can go onto directly from the park and the views of mountain from the park are breath taking. We stayed at Valley View Lodge on the park which we have done for the last 2 years. It is clean inside and generally a good lodge. Constructively, I would say the fridge/freezer needs replacing with perhaps an American fridge freezer with more space as current ones are not working as efficiently and limited for space. It also, needs a new modern smart TV as current one again looks old, slow and needs replacing. Apart from that inside of lodge is lovely. The bedrooms/toilets are fine and general facilities great. The outside seating areas needs a good clean and good lick of paint. We found it a bit messy in all honesty this time. Not swept properly or cleaned properly with bird poo on the chairs etc... Plus, it would be an even better lodge if the jacuzzi was available for guests as it is only reserved for private use because of past trouble but, I would say re-open again as the majority are responsible customers, who would respect this area and value the jacuzzi. Overall, a good experience but, needs an improvement now.

Everything was spotlessly clean and the kitchen was well equipped. If we could offer some constructive feedback, it would be to ask for some blackout blinds or curtains in the bedrooms as the current ones don't block the light so we were woken up with sunrise every day. Apart from that we we were very happy with our stay and would definitely recommend it. Thank you!

  • "The lodge was really clean and comfortable and furnished to a good standard."

Lots of extra touches- a fan to cool the rooms at it was really hot when we stayed, Netflix available, a wide range of cooking utensils, pots and pans. Everything had been thought of to make the lodge a ‘home away from home’. Showers were powerful and bathrooms were a good size. The twin room was small for two adults but not too much of a problem for us as most of our trip was spent out and about. The site itself felt really peaceful and secluded even though it was the summer holidays. We had a meal on the site which was good- the outdoor beer garden was a real sun trap with great views. It’s close to Windermere and Ambleside and a perfect base for a weekend of exploring. In our two and a half days we managed a trip to Hill Top house which is about 30 minutes drive away, rowing on Lake Windermere, exploring Ambleside and Bowness on Windermere and a long walk around Thirlmere. So much more we want to do and we would definitely recommend Valley View Lodge at Limefitt as a great place to stay!

  • "Valley View is a nice lodge, if a little cluttered."

There didn’t seem to be as much space to move around in the living area as we have had in other lodges at Limefitt. This maybe due to the odd angle of the breakfast bar. It’s also not in as good a position as the other lodges. You feel that you need to have the blinds drawn most of the time as it isn’t too private. My other concern was that it had no DVD player in the living room despite being advertised as having one there. We clarified it with the booking agent when we booked and she confirmed it was advertised as such. We knew the chance of having bad weather over the weekend was high so we had bought DVD’s for the evenings. Sadly the only DVD player was a Playstation in one of the bedrooms. This had a notice on it stating ‘not to be moved’ but there are no available sockets in the living area to plug it in if you did move it. We rang the helpline to ask about the DVD and was told someone would get back to us, we also got a confirming email stating this. Unfortunately no one contacted us so we called the helpline again and was told the DVD player was broken, the person on the helpline also said that judging by the photos it was never in the living area. the person then told us to move the Playstation. We explained there were no available sockets. Just after this call the advert was changed and no longer states that there is a DVD player in the living area. The DVD player may seem like a trivial issue but it was one of the reasons we picked Valley View. We were disappointed with that and the response from the helpline. We were also disappointed that we weren’t told before hand, that it was broken, if that was the case, and the fact the advert was amended after we queried it.

Thank you for your feedback, we have noted your concerns and have passed these over to the lodge owners to look into. We can tell you that the guests prior to your stay reported an issue with the DVD player and was subsequently removed from the lodge to be fixed. Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused. Noting your further comments, we have taken this up with the customer service team. It is most unusual to receive such comments and we would like to think a one off. That said, we are sorry. Valley View is great place to stay and we do hope you will return for another stay soon. The lodge is located by great landscape with breath taking views, although it was pouring down! Apparently monsoon like rain is quite normal there! It is well maintained, kept very clean. It is also reasonably close to Windermere lake where you have the town centre. The pony trekking which is within the park is fun to do. We were travelling from South of the country on a Friday night after work, with all the traffic got there past mid night. Although I have been told where the lodge keys were kept, vehicle access gate was shut (it can only be operated using a key fob, which can only be obtained during the day) therefore we couldnt get our car close to the lodge to unload our luggage. Therefore we had to park outside and carry our luggage, the rain definitely didnt help! Inspite of that we had a wonderful stay and can definitely see myself back there again. Hot tub was..hot!...not luke warm and worth the extra money. nice playpark, ate once in haybarn hotel [only because it's more difficult controlling children if you have to eat inside the pub - would have eaten more often without children). valley view itself was cleaned to a very good standard an is obviously quite a new cabin. The park itself is quite (not yet English school holidays when we were there just Scottish schools off) my children would probably have preferred a few more..but plenty others will welcome that. membership of the local health/fitness centre is complimentary - really nice warm pool, hot sauna/spa...reception people at health club were generally youngsters presumably on minimum wage so you got the relevant standard of service. And as for park itself-so clean/litter free - even the sandpit in the playpark is raked smooth in evening/early morning. My only downside was the Wi-Fi was pretty poor - sometimes non-existant - my opinion for family holiday is children use Wi-Fi for so much that next year it will be one of the factors we consider when choosing somewhere - even if we had to pay What did you enjoy most about your stay? Hot tub, standard of accomodation What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests? Brokhole fore children, treetop walk with zip wire, treetop nets etc

    Mr Paul LindsayJul 2016

  • "We all had a great time, we all loved the hot tub especially the children."

We went out to the nearby Zoo which the kids enjoyed and also rented a boat out on Windermere to do some fishing and we all loved that. We shall definitely be returning next year with the rest of the family. What did you enjoy most about your stay? The whole experience. What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests? We hired a boat on Windermere which was great.

    Mr David BanksJul 2016

  • "Beautiful lodge, it had all the home comforts you could wish for, comfortable beds which are a must after a busy day."

We were provided with a highchair and travel cot no problem. We had fantastic weather all weekend which was lovely the only downside the hot tub was too hot to use 41 degrees!, need instructions on how to turn the temperature down. The lodge was on a quiet site with beautiful views and only a short car ride into Windermere, where there is plenty to do. We enjoyed a gentle boat ride on the lake which the kids loved. The site also had a great restaurant and bar very nice food and child friendly. Thank you and wonderful break had by all, we will be back hopefully for longer next time. What did you enjoy most about your stay? lovely lodge, very quiet site and beautiful weather. What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests? Boat trip on lake windermere.

    Miss Louise BebbingtonJun 2016

  • "We had a fabulous stay."

Exploring the area What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests? A drink in the beer garden at The Haybarn Inn

    Mr Darren BradwellJun 2016

  • "We really enjoyed our stay at Valley View it was the perfect lodge located in a peaceful location close to lake windermere and its attractions."

Communication from staff at Lake district holidays was also first class would definitely return and would recommend to family and friends. Mr Alan BakerMay 2016

  • "The lodge is very nice and spotlessly clean."

The double bedroom was great, the 2 singles fine but the beds are close together. The single bedroom good and plenty big enough for an adult. The weather was very good for April and the sun is at the front of the lodge all day which is great if you want to sit out. There is plenty outdoor furniture. The site was lovely and peaceful but only a short drive into Windermere. Only used the hot tub once but is was fine and very clean. Had a minor issue which Lake District Lodges dealt with immediately. What did you enjoy most about your stay? The peace and quiet and countryside. What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests? A day out in Bowness. Nice shops and eateries.

    Mr David SilverstoneMay 2016

  • "We really enjoyed out stay and plan on returning during the summer to more adventuring outdoors."

The lodge was clean and provided almost everything we needed for a comfortable stay away from home.

    Mr Troy BradyDec 2015

  • "Valley View is a spacious comfortable lodge ideally situated for exploring the glorious Lake District the only thing you cant guarantee is the weather ,the on site pub is run by friendly staff and the food was great and you can enjoy a drink and warm by the fire, the hot tub at Valley view is a great way to unwind at the end of a days exploring we also made use of the excellent facilities at Low Wood iesure which is included in the booking of this great lodge."

It will be hard to find one to beat this lodge but wont stop us trying for the next winter break. What did you enjoy most about your stay? Everything What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests? If the weather is bad use Low Wood Facilities

    Mr Robert BrookDec 2015

  • "We had actually booked to stay at Whitecross Bay hwoever it was flooded due to recent storms and we where offered this beautiful lodge as an alternative."

I must say it was a beautiful lodge and well kept with lots of little extras. The hot tub was lovely - only wee point is that the owners may consider putting an umbrella over this to help when raining/or indeed sunny. The single beds in the twin room or really small though so if two couples going this is a bit uncomfy if you are more than average size(but considering we where offered this lodge as a quick plan) we were more than happy with it. Location is lovely and very quite surroundings. What did you enjoy most about your stay? The peacefulness What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests? Boat Trips on Lake Winderemere and Car Museum

    Mrs Angela FraserDec 2015

  • "The only things I would change would be the sofa's the back were to low ( for pensioners )."

Otherwise the lodge was very comfortable especially the en-suite double. One other thing would have been a help some info on using the dvd and cooker timer. I am being a bit picky but it may help. Otherwise the lodge was first class and we will use it again in the future. Hope this helps. Don Corns What did you enjoy most about your stay? Being able to relax at the end of a day out in our own little heaven. What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests? It would depend on age. We had a 19 year old with us who was happy just wandering round with us. So everything was good.

    Mr Donald CornsOct 2015

  • "The valley view lodge is so comfortable and relaxing plus it is a great location central to explore the lakes I e Windermere Ambleside grassmere and so on had a relaxing holiday will be going again next year would recommend it to family and friends ."

What did you enjoy most about your stay? The relaxing and comfortable stay What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests? Walking round Ambleside really relaxing and the food in the apple pie is just delicious

    Mr Joseph SantangeliSep 2015

  • "Valley View is the ideal family base for a brilliant holiday."

The lodge is very well appointed, beautifully presented and very comfortable. The third bedroom and the hot tub really made the difference for us. We also made extensive use of the leisure facilities at Low Wood and with two teenage children this added a lot to the holiday. Food at the HayBarn was excellent and Limefitt is well positioned for exploring the area and local amenities but at the same time peaceful and in a wonderful rural position. What did you enjoy most about your stay? So many things to do - walking, cycling, boating etc What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests? Hire some bikes, take the ferry and cycle the route to Hawshead and Hilltop.

  • "My husband and I stayed midweek at valley view with our 2 year old and my father."

It is very well equipped with everything you could need and finished to a high standard. Spotlessly clean. The quiet location made it the perfect place to relax and unwind. The hot tub was excellent too. We will definitely be back! What did you enjoy most about your stay? quiet location of limefitt park What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests? play area was perfect for our 2 year old

    Mrs Sarah WaltonMay 2015

  • "It was an absolute gorgeous log cabin in a gorgeous location."

The beds were very comfy. There was everything you would need away from home such as all the kitchen utensils etc. Hot tub was amazing the only down fall is your not allowed in hot tub after 10pm. If we were a loud group having a party then I would understand but we were a couple enjoying a relaxing weekend. We were having a quiet drink in the hot tub at 10.05pm and the park security guard came around and told us to get out! So that was a bit rubiish. But rules are rules I guess. It definitely ruined our night. What did you enjoy most about your stay? Hot tub What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests? Boat ride

    Danielle McCallumMay 2015

  • "Our 4th stay at Valley view lodge and once again can not be faulted Place as always immaculate Provisions a plenty Hot tub great What more can I say but thanks to Pat and Terry once again and yes we will be returning again!"

! Thanks What did you enjoy most about your stay? hot tub What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests? location

    Mr Stephen AmbroseMay 2015

  • "Stayed 27th April - 1sy May our group booking this lodge as a base for 3 days cycling."

On arrival the hot tub was ready to go. A few essential items were in the lodge, dishwasher tablets, toilet rolls. The lodge was very clean and had most items you could hope for although didn't find a frying pan but that might be for safety reasons. The weather wasn't great with snow and heavy rain. This makes one hell of a noise on the roof of the cabin so if you are a light sleeper take earplugs. There was no secure storage for our bikes meaning they were left out in the rain overnight. There was plenty of outside seats although not used due to weather. The onsite pub had good food at decent prices and was quiet during our visit. The area was very quiet and peaceful with nice scenery. I would definitely return in the future. What did you enjoy most about your stay? Hot tub What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests? Pub

    Mr Andrew ReevesMay 2015

  • "Excellent lodge, very comfortable and so lovely."

Everything you could need for a great break. Hot tub an absolute bonus. Maps and walking information very useful. Lovely pub on site and a very warm welcome by all staff. Would definitely come back. What did you enjoy most about your stay? The relaxing atmosphere and comfortable surroundings. What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests? Ambleside is a lovely place to visit for shops etc. Loved walking around Grasmere.

    Mrs Victoria BakApr 2015

  • "What can we say."

..so amazing! Cant say much more. The stay from start to finish was so brilliant. Hot tub so lush, although it was December we still got good use out of it (despite the rain) so nice to be in warm bubbly water with the rain coming down! We went for my fiance's 40th birthday and cooked a steak meal-every utencil we could have hoped for was there which was great. I loved the fact they provide things like tin foil, kitchen roll and toilet roll which added to the helpfulness. Lots of lush towels also. Only grip is there was no full length mirror, but hey, we werent really looking in mirrors much! Also of mention- the pub just 2 minutes from the lodge was great - lovely food. Thank you all at Limefitt Park - we'll certainly return, David & Jill What did you enjoy most about your stay? Hot tub and the luxury cabin What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests? Hot tub

    Mr David JoyceJan 2015

  • "This is a spacious & well equiped lodge in a peaceful location."

The single beds are not really suitable for adults, as they are on the small side, but i imagine would probably be fine for children. The en-suite smelt of damp so could do with more maintaining. The hot tub would benefit with a canopy of some sort, as it would be nicer to use when raining. Overall though enjoyed our stay here, had everything we needed. What did you enjoy most about your stay? Hot tub What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests? Bowness

    Mr Ian WilliamsJan 2015

  • "We really enjoyed our stay at Valley View recently and would definitely rebook in the future."

The lodge was immaculate when we arrived with everything we needed and more. I took crockery for my two children but shouldn't have bothered as they had plastic plates, dishes, cups and cutlery which was fantastic. The lodge was really cosy and easy to heat up. The hot tub was a brilliant addition to the lodge, especially after long days out. The beds were really comfy, pretty much home from home! Overall, we had a lovely time! What did you enjoy most about your stay? Cosiness, comfiness and hot tub! What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests? Gruffalo's child walk at Whinlatter forest.

    Mrs Gail PalmerJan 2015

  • "Comfort and condition were both excellent and the site is in a good position for exploring the Lake District."

Just one moan that the lighting for the Hot Tub was not working and despite reporting it on the day of arrival no remedial action was taken during the entire length of our stay.Whilst this may sound trivial it did make the Hot Tub area quite dangerous at night. What did you enjoy most about your stay? Very comfortable bed and good quality Hot Tub. What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests? Drive along Kirkstone Pass and walk up Aira Force.

    Mr John HemsJan 2015

  • "The lodge was perfect for a relaxing holiday, especially the hot tub."

The lodge was well equipped for domestic use ie. cooking and leisure use ie. Playsaation 3. The holiday park was well kept and very clean. What did you enjoy most about your stay? Plenty to do at the lodge, plenty of good walks near the holiday park, and a good base for exploring the Lake District. What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests? Walk up the fell, path at the side of the Haybarn pub.

    Mrs Diane LeechDec 2014

  • "We enjoyed every second of our stay."

The lodge had everything we needed and it was all of a fantastic standard. Well looked after. Washer / Dryer was advertised but not there, not essential but would have been useful for drying towels after use in the hot tub. The hot tub was fantastic, we were lucky with the weather and were able to sit out a lot in beautiful surrounding it was bliss. Meals were also very good in the Haybarn and we would recommend. We will deffinately come back and stay in the same lodge we felt at home right from the first second. Staff also at reception were great. What did you enjoy most about your stay? Probably the hot tub What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests? Bowness on Windermere was lovely, lovely scenery.

    Mrs Catherine JeffersonOct 2014

  • "Superb accommodation in a perfect location, will most likely return again next year."

Only negative; there were no washer drier as advertised. Highly recommended. What did you enjoy most about your stay? Comfortable / central location What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests? Great walking and photographic opportunities

    Mr Stephen YoungSep 2014

  • "The lodge was lovely but really don't think it was value for money!"

The main gripe was that it advertised that it had a washer/dryer but there was nothing only the pipes where one had originally been! Therefore, we spent ??10 and a wasted evening at the launderette! Although you will say this is nothing to do with you , the staff in reception were miserable and very very unhelpful! If you own a lodge on this site at least ask the reception staff that they don't have to keep saying "nothing to do with us"!! I assume that the owners pay a ground rent for the lodge at Limefitt Park!! After a couple off days the smell coming from the en-suite was awful and as you are aware we already complained about the carpet nails! All in all the holiday was ok but not one I would want to experience again I can safely say we won't be returning to Valley View and won't be recommending to friends! I hope this review isn't a waste of time and didn't get filed in the deleted folder!!!

    Mrs Anne HarrisSep 2014

  • "From arrival to departure."

Nothing to complain about. Even the rain didn't seem to bother us. Beautiful location . Limefitt park owners and staff most accommodating and site maintained well. Good job laundry room on site as the washer-dryer facilities offered at Valley View lodge is incorrect...There isn't one! Lodge is well furnished and everything needed was to hand. Will return.

    Mrs Lisa GilesSep 2014

  • "Valley View was everything we expected it to be and more having stayed in other lodges at Limefitt on several occasions before."

Modern, spacious and well equipped we especially picked it as it has three bedrooms which better suits our family plus it has the added bonus of a newly fitted hot tub. The welcome at the Haybarn was as friendly as ever and the food was delicious. We enjoyed walking although, as we were blessed with a heatwave, not as much as I would have liked. A lovely morning was spent on the Teal on Lake Windermere. The river pool was fantastic this year and we even had a go at pony trekking. We had a couple of issues during our stay and Mark at Lake District Lodge Holidays was very helpful and sorted them straight away, unfortunately the reception staff at Limefitt were not so helpful as they have been in previous years as they told us our lodge "wasn't one of theirs" as we had booked with an agent (which we have aways done?) so I would suggest if you have any issues, no matter how small, contact Mark direct. A fantastic time was had by all and should hopefully be returning again soon. What did you enjoy most about your stay? relaxing, peace and quiet What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests? the river pool for children

    Vicky AindowJul 2014

  • "We had a wonderful stay at valley view."

The Hot tub was very relaxing after a long day walking and sight seeing. The Lodge was very well equipped and comfortable and value for money. We would highly recommend to friends and family. And we hope to visit again very soon. What did you enjoy most about your stay? see review What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests? Boat trip on windermere

    Mr James WilliamsonJul 2014

  • "Valley View Lodge provides a lovely stay for groups/families when visiting the Lake District."

The lodge accommodates up to 5 people really well, with a bathroom and an en-suite, dining and lounge area and good sized bedrooms with ample storage space. It is situated in Limefitt Park which is well located as local attractions are only a short drive away. There are good walking routes in the surrounding area with great views of the lake and peaks. It has been recently fitted with an outdoor hot tub, which is a welcomed treat, weather permitted - we were lucky to have little rain so enjoyed this greatly. Booking the lodge was very straightforward, and any questions were responded to in a timely manner. What did you enjoy most about your stay? Quality of the accomodation. What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests? Walk from Troutbeck to Ambleside via Wansfell Pike
