The property

A charming detached cottage, settled in the village of Witherslack within easy reach of The Lake District.

The Old Post House enjoys a peaceful location whilst also having easy access to all Cumbria has to offer, this homely dwelling is perfect for a family or couples alike.

Delight in parking in your own off-road space and be welcomed into the lofty kitchen/diner, a true country kitchen scene with a traditional stable door, admire the quaint mugs hanging from the shelf amidst a scattering of antique pieces for classic décor.

The calming colour palette makes this a fabulous space to relax in with your loved ones, make cooking dinner a social occasion and relax in the spacious open plan dining area, where you will find an impressive Rayburn range cooker, with a sofa in here to retire to at your leisure.

Head up to the sitting room where a long L-shape sofa sits neatly in the corner before the TV, settle in for a film or two in here, whilst a sweet, antique table and chairs rests in the corner, adding elegance and history to this lovely cottage.

From the sitting room you can access the wonderful enclosed lawned gardens, and discover a beautiful space to enjoy.

Make use of the various outdoor seating areas, where a morning cup of tea can be enjoyed, or sip a glass of wine here on a sunny evening.You can step straight out from the garden on to Rocky Common, where various footpaths and walks can be discovered.

Rest your head in one of the three bedrooms on the first floor; a twin bedroom with beautiful arts and crafts inspired bedding and vintage-style metal framed beds is wonderfully lit by a Velux window in the sloping ceiling, with storage within the Georgian dresser.

Further along the hall you will come to the quirky single bedroom, find here a specially-built single bed, with an unique layout where a step down beneath an exposed beam takes you to the built-in wardrobe and the drawers.

Finally continue along the hallway, step down to the master bedroom where an elegant antique brass double bed frame enjoys more luxury bedding, with some well-chosen furnishings such as the lamps and wardrobe.

The bright and spacious bathroom is the perfect place to unwind and relax after a day exploring The Lakes and fells.

You can find a The village of Witherslack holds a handy convenience store along with a local pub, the perfect essentials for any self-catered stay, whilst the coastal town of Grange-over-Sands can offer a wider selection along with a charming promenade with fabulous views of the sea and the coast.

Visit the Grange-over-Sands Golf Club for a scenic 18-hole course, whilst those who love horse riding will love being nearby to Witherslack Hall Equestrian Centre where you can enjoy a beautiful country hack through the Lake District.

Travel up to Lakeside at the southern end of Lake Windermere, here you can find the Lakes Aquarium, home to freshwater and marine life with an amazing underwater otter tunnel!

Nearby the National Trust's Fell Foot Park is a great area for families to delight in a picnic with swimming and boating available here too.

Catch a Lakes Cruise up to Bowness-on-Windermere to marvel at The World of Beatrix Potter, amidst this quaint Lakes town you can find a selection of eateries and pubs to stop in.

Head over to Sizergh to see the 14th-century Sizergh Castle and be impressed by this medieval fortress containing Elizabethan carvings and original furniture.

The small village of Witherslack lies tucked beneath Whitbarrow Scar, in a lovely area running south east from the shores of Lake Windermere, encompassing fell, woodland, river and valley bottom. The village consists of a huddle of fine, stone built traditional houses, cottages and barn conversions surrounded by unspoilt countryside, with varied flora and fauna and a nature reserve providing beautiful walking country. Nearby Lindale has a true 'Lakeland feel' with its narrow streets, traditional dwellings and quaint old pubs, while Cartmel, with its famous annual horse race meetings, and the pretty coastal resorts of Arnside and Grange-over-Sands are all worth a visit.
