Surrounded by tranquil Yorkshire countryside, Goal Farm Cottage is an idyllic base for a romantic getaway for two.

Travel down a scenic track, enveloped in greenery and wildlife leading you to the holiday home, parking on the shared driveway in front of the property.

Step over the threshold and through to the hallway, fabulously decorated with an eye-catching rustic timber bannister salvaged from the original barn, and into the adjoining utility to kick off your boots and freshen up your wardrobe before continuing through to the main area of the cottage.

The property boasts an open-plan living space, featuring traditional exposed wooden beams decorating the ceiling above, a rustic built-in log store and a warming woodburning stove, enticing you to nestle in on the plush sofa to enjoy a spot of television before continuing through to the galley-style kitchen, fully-equipped with all of the amenities necessary to prepare a romantic meal to indulge in, sat around the dining table.

End each day in style with a seat out on the patio, relishing in the tranquil setting and taking in the panoramic views across the garden to the distant countryside, toasting a glass of fizz with your significant other.

When sleep calls, climb the stairs to the spacious double bedroom, thoughtfully laid out with traditional wooden accent features and fittings, snuggling in under the intimate setting of the eaves, and resting your eyes ahead of another day of adventure, waking yourself up in the morning with a revitalizing rinse in the adjoining bathroom.

Take the short stroll into the center of Hellifield to indulge in a bite to eat at local favourite, H’s Fish & Chips, where you can choose to sit inside the pint-sized restaurant, or order a portion to enjoy from the comfort of your holiday home.

Treat yourself to a spot of luxury at the nearby Coniston Hotel and Spa, basking in luxury with a rejuvenating soak in the spectacular outdoor infinity pool, boasting scenic views across the 1,400-acre estate to the surrounding landscape of the Yorkshire Dales.

Catch the train from the town's Grade II listed station, where destinations such as Settle and Skipton are within easy reach.

Head to the quaint village of Airton to stock up on fresh, local produce with a visit to the award-winning Town End Farm Shop and Tea Room, indulging in a freshly baked scone washed down with a traditional pot of Yorkshire Tea in the cosy tea room.

From here you can take a tranquil stroll along the banks of the River Aire to the village of Malham, where you can discover the breath-taking waterfall of Janet's Foss and the limestone gorge of Gordale Scar.

Literary buffs will be delighted with a visit to nearby Haworth and a trip to the Brontë Parsonage Museum, once home to the Brontë sisters, and displaying a host of history including their personal items as well as early editions of their novels and poetry.

For a trip a little further afield, further attractions await at Skipton.

About the location

HELLIFIELD

Settle 6 miles; Skipton 9 miles.

The village of Hellifield lies between Settle and Skipton at the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. It's a thriving, small community with a local pub, scattering of small shops, a renowned butcher's and historic railway station. The village nestles amongst the most picturesque rolling countryside, beside the largest outcrop of limestone in Britain - a region of scars, cliffs, caves and potholes. Hellifield grew as an important agricultural centre, where the moorlands of the Dales meet the pasturelands of the Ribble Valley, and boasted one of the most important livestock markets in the North of England for many years. It later developed into a railway centre and the famous Settle-Carlisle Railway crosses some of the most beautiful and inspiring upland scenery in the country. Natural attractions such as Malham Cove and Gordale Scar are within easy reach, as are the nearby Dales towns of Skipton and Malham. Hellifield is in the midst of excellent walking country and is a good base for touring the Dales, the Lake District and the Forest of Bowland.
