“We were the first to holiday at the cottage.”

The cottage was generally simple to locate. We were greeted by the owners daughter Tish who made us feel welcome. The equipment and facilities offered us what we wanted. The location was ideal for our needs. The cottage's facilities allowed us to have a relaxing stay and recharged our batteries. We met with Diana later in the week and had some pleasant conversations. We exchanged some ideas to enhance the next visitors stay at the well established cottage. ...

The location was ideal for our needs. The cottage's facilities allowed us to have a relaxing stay and recharged our batteries. We met with Diana later in the week and had some pleasant conversations. We exchanged some ideas to enhance the next visitors stay at the well established cottage. We enjoy walks in the countryside exploring and experiencing new scenery and nature. Ideally with a variety of walks in the immediate area with mixed terrain and countryside. We were not disappointed, with some walks starting close by. There are a number of attractive and interesting locations to visit only a short drive from the cottage. The area of Belvoir Castle and its shops are only one.

The property

This delightful, single storey annex sits within the village of Branston, amidst the luscious green landscapes of the Lincolnshire countryside.

Boasting a light and airy feel, The Old Mower Shed is a lovely hideaway for couples eager to escape normality for a little while.

Pass through the electric gates before unloading the car right outside the annex and parking up in the car park.

Step into the open-plan living area, where you can sink into the sofa after a day of walking, catching up on your favourite shows.

Take on some home-cooking within the amply-equipped kitchen, complete with an electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer and washing machine.

Retire to the bedroom, complete with a double bed and chest of drawers, plus an en-suite shower room where you can prepare for the day.

Take a drink outside and sip on your morning coffee at the garden furniture, before popping on your walking boots and exploring the local area.

Knipton is home to a charming Post Office with a village store, perfect for picking up any essentials before venturing into the hamlet of Harston or the beautiful village of Branston for a pint at The Wheel, a traditional country pub offering quality food and drink.

Visit nearby Waltham on the Wolds, home to a fantastic deli and excellent local produce.

From this quaint dwelling there are numerous walking and cycling paths within easy reach, including a circular route from Croxton to Branston, along with many lakeside walks and landmarks such as the grand fortress of Belvoir Castle and their unique Engine Yard artisan retail village.

Keen walkers will relish in venturing down to just outside Woolsthorpe, which is on the Viking Way and Jubilee Way, and rewarding themselves with a pint at The Chequers Pub or the Dirty Duck situated on the canal route, before heading back via Harston.

Visit the National Trust's Woolsthorpe Manor, the birthplace of Sir Isaac Newton, Easton Walled Gardens and Grimsthorpe Castle, both members of Historic Houses.

Or enjoy a day at Twinlakes Park, a ride on the Great Central Railway or cycling and boating at Rutland Water.

For a relaxing break amidst this scenic part of the country, choose The Old Mower Shed.
