The property is ideally located for the Vale of Belvoir and we enjoyed trips to Lincoln, Belvoir Castle and Belton. The master bedroom was large and all beds very comfy. Access to the drive a little tight but no problem. Thank you for a lovely stay!

  • "The cottage was more than adequate for my requirements."

The host was exceptionally helpful. Although the property is close to the A607 I did not find any traffic noises infringe on my relaxation or impact on my sleep at night. The owner of the Village shop was very welcoming and the shop catered for most general daily requirements. The area has some lovely walks. I particularly liked Denton reservoir. I would recommend this cottage and would stay there again without hesitation.

Thank you Josephine We appreciate your positive comments on this forum as many of our lovely guests who stay make similar comments but primarily in our guest book where I guess it matters most. Take care. Property Owner

  • "Robin's Nest was a pleasant, warm and comfortable cottage."

We actually stayed there as we were moving house and wanted a base not too far away when this was happening and not because we were on holiday. It was a good option for us and firework free (as in a small rural village) over Bonfire Night which our dog appreciated. There is road noise as some visitors have pointed out but it was not a problem to us. Parking was potentially a little tight but our car is not large and there is parking on the road if required. The area is very pleasant if you are on holiday and we appreciated that the cottage accepts dogs and has a small enclosed courtyard garden.

Thank you and at the time was pleased you returned so soon! Property Owner

  • "Excellent location for exploring this region."

Nottingham, Southwell and Rutland Water are all under 45 minutes away. Belvoir Castle and local walks around Woolsthorpe and Denton are less than 15 minutes away! Croxton Kerrial has a new village shop, medieval manor house remains and a pub walking distance from the cottage. The cottage is very clean and is a lovely refuge after a busy day out.

Thanks John Your lovely positive attitude from the outset shows through especially with how much you used your valuable time in what is a beautiful area and excellent for pubs and walks. Thank you and it was pleasure to have such lovely guests. Property Owner

Also we found it cold. However the garden area was good.

The air source heat pump was professionally installed and correct number and size of radiators installed to ensure it isn’t cold……it is just over a year old, we leave it on 24/7 but we don’t control the thermostats! We live close by if any issues, there is an open fire Property Owner

  • "This was a lovely clean, tidy cottage but unfortunately for us it was beside a main road which was not mentioned in the description."

We are used to our very quiet environment, so this was an issue for us with the road noise day and through the night. It was a good base for exploring the area. But because of the noise issue we will not return.

It is a shame this experience seems to have affected your poor accuracy of listing marks compared to the majority of our guests. Your overall low marks suggest Robin’s Nest wasn’t the right choice despite you saying the cottage was clean and tidy and we employ a professional cleaner! We are regularly complimented time after time re facilities and comfort with the beds in particular praised for their size and comfort! We thank you for your booking and hope you arrived home safely to East Anglia. Property Owner

  • "A comfortable, warm and well equipped cottage, well sited for the attractions of Lincolnshire, Leicestershire and Nottinghamshire."

The beds were large and comfortable, the kitchen was well equipped with an effective hob and cooker. (although would benefit from a set of steak knives and a tea cosy), the sofa and armchairs were easy to sit upon and the televisions were of a good sized and quality. My only criticism was that the internet was poor - not in terms of speed, but availability as it kept dropping, making use frustrating. The bathroom was well equipped and although no power shower, the shower provided was a perfectly good electric one with plenty of hot water at sufficient pressure for a reasonable shower. Parking was OK although perhaps a little challenging in the dark, although there was plenty of nearby road parking if necessary. Lots of historic sites were also within easy reach, such as Belton House in Grantham, the Cathedral and Castle in Lincoln, Gainsborough Old Hall in Gainsborough, Great Central Railway at Loughborough, (all of which are well worth a visit), as well as many others. We will undoubtedly return in due course

Thank you for your positive and constructive feedback and I dropped off a tea cosy and a Chesterfield settee for the summer house as this will further enhance the excellent facilities you kindly mentioned as more comfortable than the bed settee. Vodaphone we’re reportedly the best provider for our village and we have two boosters in place but are monitoring your experience as current guests found a similar experience for first couple of days but fine before and after your visit (Sod’s law) so hopefully a glitch in the area and now fixed. If and you very welcome to come again Belvoir Castle and Belton House do spectacular light trail through their gardens and grounds during November and December. Stay safe. Property Owner

Home from home. Everything you could possibly need is here. The beds are very comfortable and what a bonus to have the two televisions! The kitchen is well equipped and has a large fridge/freezer. The cottage is set in truly the most naturally beautiful area, with many historical places of interest to visit. The village and all the surrounding villages are an absolute joy to visit. We so enjoyed our stay here. Thank you so much to our kind and thoughtful host. Sad to leave.

  • "The cottage is ok for a last minute booking."

Its sweet and dies the job if you are out most of the time. The lounge and kitchen is a bit tight. Parking is very tricky. The shower was very weak and definitely could do with replacement.

Unfortunately historical villages don’t tend to have gas and parking is often only on the road but Robin’s Nest are fortunate to accommodate people carriers and installed a four year old Triton Electrical Shower, a trusted brand and an air source heat pump. Home from home seems to be our usual guest reviews. Thank you for your “last second booking”, the team at Robin’s Nest worked hard under these circumstances for little reward! Property Owner

  • "We felt at home the moment we entered Robin’s Nest."

It is a most attractive, well equipped, warm and comfortable cottage. It proved to be an excellent base from which to explore the beautiful Vale of Belvoir & beyond. It is conveniently placed to drive to places like Lincoln, Kings Lynn, Stamford, Newark, Rutland Water, Woolsthorpe Manor, Belvoir Castle, Burghley House and the bustling Tuesday market at Melton Mowbray; so many great attractions that we couldn’t squeeze them all in – we’ll be back! We also appreciated the local pub, Croxton church and the ease of shopping in Grantham on our doorstep. Simon was an excellent host and he certainly went the extra mile to be helpful to us! With lots of accessible places still on our wish list, we look forward to returning to this excellent property.

From your first reply to the time we met it was obvious you were the perfect guests who appreciated a rural environment and the English way of life. You will be welcomed back with open arms. Property Owner

The area around the cottage was beautiful countryside with stunning views and properties, and lovely village pubs. especially the Chequers and the Manners arms which are owned by the Duchess of Rutland. Left nice surprise of Lincolnshire Plum Loaf and milk together with containers of tea, coffee and sugar. Also a lovely personalised gift. The cottage itself is excellent and very comfortable. It is beside a busy road, so expect some road noise, especially when sitting out in the garden. Location is superb, with so much to do and Simon is very knowledgable about the area. We thought from the photos that the cottage was detached. It is actually semi-detached. Not really an issue as the neighbour was completely unobtrusive, just a bit of a surprise.
