  • "Ginny’s Barn proved an extremely well presented , comfortable holiday home."

I received a warm welcome from the owner giving me helpful pieces of information which was much appreciated. I absolutely loved my holiday hideaway; on the edge of the village, surrounded by countryside, my ideal! Lots of local walks to keep my black Labrador happy as well as being close to some great places to explore. Thank you Ginny’s Barn!

Also in a great position on a working but unintrusive farm close to a charming village , situated at a high elevation with some wonderful views close by. Good access to local villages and small towns and tourist attractions. Would highly recommend. Geoff and Vicki Thomas

  • "The property was well renovated and equipped but we were unable to sit comfortably on the very well worn sofa."

Sue brought an extra cushion but by that time we had decided to leave two days early. Would have liked more space to store food as microwave, kettle and toaster took up most of the worktop space. Ginnys Barn is well situated , close to road links to lots of places of interest and views from the property are wonderful.

    Sofa sorted now. Property Owner

Liked all the personal touches. Very suitable for the dog. Nice location. One of the owners even came to say hallo. It didn’t bother us but we found a key for the ‘annexe’ with a washing machine just as we were leaving. This might have been in the book and I didn’t see it. We had a really lovely stay

The hosts were very friendly without being intrusive and were very informative about the surrounding areas. We found cycling around the local areas easily as well as in Clumber Park which is a local national trust estate. The views around the local areas were stunning. The bed was very very comfy. Even though this is a working farm we didn’t hear any loud farm vehicles and the area around the barn was very clean.

A beautiful barn out of the way of everyone and everything apart from the natural surroundings. We really enjoyed our time here. The owners are fantastic and made us feel very welcome even supplying local fruit and veg and went beyond and above with a lovely gift of flowers on our anniversary. Sue has great local knowledge of walks of the area. We would highly recommend Ginny's Barn for a lovely stay. The local pub The Duke William is very welcoming with local ales and ciders together with great food especially the Sunday roast. A short 2 mile walk away to East Markham is another lovely village pub called The Queen's Hotel which also serves fantastic food. Both establishments took the cleanliness and restriction surrounding Covid 19 seriously. The overall area of Askham is lovely to walk together with the surrounding areas of East/West Markham and Retford. Lincoln is worth a visit also although we did not hang around too long due to the current situation with Covid 19.

Thank you for your feedback, I am sorry the pub was closed at the time, this was in the process of changing owners. The Village pub is open again and has been taken over by a lovely Italian couple, who serve lovely Italian food. The property

Ginny's Barn is a detached brick barn conversion, on the owner's mixed livestock and arable farm, at the edge of the small rural Nottinghamshire village of Askham.

This well-equipped, spacious single-storey cottage offers open plan living areas, with traditional country furnishings, natural slate flooring with underfloor heating, exposed oak cross beams and a stable-style door.

There is a grassed area to the front of the property, from where views of the orchard can be seen.

Also the three towers of Lincoln Cathedral can be seen on the horizon from the bedroom window and garden.

A short walk into the village finds the local public house, also serving meals.

Historic Lincoln offers a vibrant and contemporary day out with plenty of things to keep everyone busy.

There is plenty of history on offer with its medieval cathedral and a copy of the Magna Carta housed at the castle.

Why not walk the castle walls and take in the views across the city?

The National Nature Reserve of Sherwood Forest is a short drive away and was once part of a royal hunting forest.

The area now covers 450 acres with plenty of walking and cycling routes, and includes some ancient trees, some of which are over 500 years old.
