  • "We'd like to keep it a secret, but we're guessing it's already out there - Westerby Lodge is amazing!"

Fab location - perfectly positioned for exploring Lincolnshire, especially the coast. Excellent property with all you need to enjoy a relaxing break. Perfect hosts who are so welcoming, but who also respect you and give you your space. The pub is super - a real traditional-style place, but with such a vibrant atmosphere, you can't help but enjoy yourself. The food is excellent, both in quality and cost, and cooked to perfection. We've already booked to return, and can't wait to go back.

  • "Westerby is a lovely property, all ground floor and comfortable."

The hosts are super and on hand should you need anything. In a very quiet location on the edge of a small village. There are some nice walks from the doorstep. The food at the Railway Tavern is very good and reasonably priced. The coast is not too far away, also Gunby Hall (NT) is worth a visit. A few miles away is Louth which has a lovely riverside walk and reasonable shopping. A lovely ground floor property and we plan a return visit before too long. Our thanks to Dawn and Keith.

Great sized kitchen lounge and an an excellent property for wheelchair users and people of restricted mobility. Local pub nearby offers lovely food and ales, an all round great cottage!

  • "Everything was very good."

Easy to find and park, beds very comfortable, plenty of equipment, heating worked perfectly, all very clean (and new), good bathroom (wet room). The pub next door was handy. Good beer and very nice, well cooked food. Only thing I didn't like was the garden chairs. Too big and had to have cushions to sit on them - a nuisance to take in and out.

Well equipped. Although on the same site as the pub, it was not at all noisy and the pub serves great food. Good walking from the doorstep as well as plenty to do nearby, friendly hosts, would definitely recommend.

  • "If you are looking for a peaceful location, where the only sounds you may hear are the birds singing, an owl hooting or the odd tractor in a field, then this is the cottage for you."

The photos are an accurate depiction (apart from not showing the lovely outside seating) but they cannot convey the complete tranquillity that you experience here. This cottage and the one next door are owned by Dawn & Keith who run the Railway Tavern, which is a very, very short walk away. There is no need to travel for cooked meals as the ones they serve are varied, delicious and reasonably priced. They go the extra mile to ensure you are happy and are an absolute credit to their profession as well as warm, welcoming hosts. Ideally situated close to the coast, you are never short of places to visit, either for the beach, shopping or sightseeing. If you have an interest in wartime aviation, go and see the Lancaster Bomber and a 'bouncing bomb' at the Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Museum at East Kirkby. We thoroughly enjoyed our week's stay, but there are so many places and attractions that we didn't manage to see, that we will have to return - and we can't imagine a better location than Westerby Lodge or better hosts than Dawn & Keith.

  • "Had a really relaxing stay it's very quiet and everything you want is here."

The cottage is very well presented and spotlessly clean. If you want a very good meal in a friendly atmosphere you can't go wrong eating on site at the Railway Tavern. Keith and Dawn work very hard running the cottages and pub, but are still very approachable and anything you want you only have to ask. The sausage, bacon and eggs they left for our first breakfast was very much appreciated and delicious. We would certainly recommend and stay here again. Denice and Anthony.

Friendly welcoming hosts who provided a lovely selection of fresh sausages, bacon and milk for breakfast. Garden is enclosed and was perfect for our pup. Lots of footpaths for walks near the cottage and only a short drive to the beach for the kids to enjoy. Would certainly recommend to family and friends.

  • "We had a fantastic time at Westerby Lodge."

The hosts are close by and very helpful and welcoming but entirely unobtrusive. The house is well-appointed and has a superb, fully-enclosed and large garden which was perfect for sitting and enjoying the solitude with a drink and wonderful for our elderly dog to wander safely around. The house is well placed for visiting the East coast resorts like Sutton-on-Sea and Mablethorpe, as well as the lovely town of Alford and the Lincolnshire Wolds in general. We were thrilled to find a lovely 'breakfast pack' waiting for us in the fridge - those Lincolnshire sausages were exceptional - and had everything we needed to have and incredibly relaxed and peaceful holiday (the weather was mostly excellent, too!). We would happily return!

We were made to feel very welcome and the owners went above and beyond to make our stay feel relaxing and comfortable. The pub is a few paces away but there is no noise at all from it. The food from the pub is award winning. The owners are very knowledgeable of the area and made recommendations for visits. We took the dog to Mablethorpe beach, by far the best beach for a dog walk that I have ever seen. All together the best place to stay with a dog. We will be back.

the lodge was a few steps away from the StationTavern and the food was wonderful. Made fresh and suited to your diet needs. The owners are very hospitable making you feel at home. No worries about looking for somewhere to eat after a day out, and no washing up. This made the holiday very relaxing. The photos on Sykes dont do it justice and need updating. The garden has the sun all day and the only thing you hear are the birds and occasional car. no noise from the tavern. Rabbits are fun to watch in the nearby field. It is all fenced in so the dog enjoyed her freedom. The lodge is underfloor heated making it very cosy. The wet room is big and built with plenty of safety rails. Ideal for us. It is designed with the disabled in mind so furniture can be moved if need be. We didnt want to leave, I think that says it all.

Alford Manor House is a central point in the town, with its exhibitions and museum as well as a tea room and open gardens.
