  • "A lovely property."

My son absolutely loved the fishing and was pulling fish out all day. Fantastic facilities offering everything that you needed. It was lovely and clean. Sky was a real bonus as we could all settle down in the evening and watch a movie. A fantastic property, we would definitely come and stay again. In fact I have already checked but it is unfortunately but understandably booked out for most of the year. A real gem and highly recommended.

  • "We had a lovely week in Stones Throw."

The lodge was very clean and comfortable. The weather was kind to us (except for the last afternoon) and Hubby enjoyed the fishing. We had no problem with the heating in the lodge. We turned the programmer to manual as and when we wanted heating and we were nice and warm even in the mornings when the programmer had not been on. During the day the sun kept the lodge very warm, in fact too warm at times, so no heating was required. We would love to come back.

Am glad you enjoyed the lodge. Thanks for positive comments. Property Owner

  • "Stonesthrow is a fantastic lodge , perfectly situated for a relaxing break away for any season of the year."

Lakeside , with a perfect view of the wildlife, that are friendly too. The weather was kind to us for our week away. The lodge is fully equipped, clean & tidy, with a much appreciated carton of milk, tea, coffee & cakes that seen us through until our shopping arrived, however a hairdryer would be a welcome addition to at least one of the bedrooms. We found the duvets a tad thin for time of year , but that's purely a personal choice & not a complaint, the owner kindly places throws should you need them in wardrobes & also in the lounge area. A great TV with sky channels. One gripe & pet hate we do have with ALL holiday lets & it's certainly not directed specifically at Stonesthrow , but all of the Sykes accommodations..... the stripping of beds before leaving? We've stayed in various holiday lets & only 1 accommodation (private rent) hasn't instructed the stripping of beds. It's not necessary when you have to check out at 9a.m -10a.m, surely the 3pm-4pm check- ins give ample time for this to be done by cleaning company or the owner surely? We'd love to stay again at Stonesthrow, it's a perfect holiday home & we'll hopefully be back soon.

Hi. Glad you enjoyed your stay. I have put a hairdryer in the lodge now. Yvonne Property Owner

Travelled from Liverpool with my dad and two sons age 6 and 10. Stayed here while my 6 year old son had an intensive pysio therapy block for 5 days near by, it was lovely and peaceful and very comfortable for him to relax after working hard. Beautiful view of the lake my children loved feeding the ducks. There was binders full of information of the lodge and the local area, the owners thought of everything. It was a perfect stay would definitely recommend and would 100% return for our next pysio block.

  • "Everything we expected and wished for."

Well presented, very clean and well proportioned. Parking at the side of the lodge and south facing decked area fitted out with furniture and sun umbrellas overlooking the lake and the fishing platform. The fishing itself was good. You can be busy with small roach and bream but also had some decent Barbell and Carp out. It was a very hot weekend and being pedantic, air conditioning would have been a godsend. Having said that, we haven’t got it in our own home so it’s a bit rich to expect it in a lodge ! We had a lovely few days, peace, quiet and sunshine.

On a personal note I would have liked a king size bed as the bed supplied was too small for me and my wife. So much so that we slept apart with my wife using the spare single bed. Not a huge issue. Site is lovely, and was surprisingly quiet considering it was half term. Would be happy to return at a future date.

Hello David Thank you for your positive feedback, it is much appreciated. Understand your comment regarding size of bed but think we would struggle to get a larger bed in that bedroom. Regards Yvonne Property Owner

we felt at home right away. Enjoyed the fishing, and caught some lovely carp to 10lb,s and a beautiful koi carp.I was lucky the weather was mild and the carp were still feeding. Lodge was in a nice position right next to the small lake with trees opposite.

  • "Firstly I have no complaints at all about the actual property and the site, very clean and comfortable and had everything you wanted."

The site was extremely well maintained and a pleasure to stay at. Based on lodge and site alone I would rate this 10 out of 10. Please note the road to the actual site is narrow (single carriageway) and is absolutely full of potholes so if you are arriving by touring caravan be very aware of this. I booked a lodge on the pond and it clearly states in the description that the lodge has it own swim so you can fish at, on arrival though this was not the case and the pond edge was roped off by the lodge. The plan was to compete some fishing whilst my wife sat on the lodge decking and this we could still chat to each other, this is not the case. Thankfully the lodge next to me was not occupied so I could fish from their swim but if it had of been this would have meant I would have to fish from the other side of the pond, firstly taking all my equipment round there and secondly not being able to chat. To me this was a huge let down and really dampened my holiday, if you don't fish then this is fine and as previously stated I had no other issues. If you do fish though, you can understand how frustrating this is, if you book a lodge with a swim, you expect to get one. Marked down, purely because of this point.

Everything we needed was there. The only problem we had (...but it's not Yvonne's fault) is that the weather was really, really hot. (Phew!) If you're thinking of going, and you live for fishing, just book it.
