  • "This is my second stay at The Stables and again, I had a lovely stay."

The Host went out of her way to ensure that everything was as I would like it which made me feel especially welcome. The property is spotlessly clean, the Welcome Hamper included Local Produce so I felt I was supporting the local community as well as having a nice break. The bed is comfy, the wifi good, location is rural but Louth and Horncastle are only about 20 minutes drive away through the very beautiful Lincolnshire Wolds. The village is nice with places to walk, a couple of shops and a pub.

  • "I was delighted with the Christmas decorations and the lovely welcome goodies the hosts had provided."

The Stables is a lovely countryside getaway for peace and comfort, the property was spotlessly clean, well equipped and the furniture was comfortable, good internet too. Locally there are some good walks to enjoy, but the heavy rainfall and fallen trees meant going on the Viking Trail and the circular walk impossible - I just lucked out on that, never mind maybe next time as I will likely return.

The cottage is conveniently located in a village we know quite well which has two shops and a dining pub. An easy drive to local towns or the coast. We would definitely book again.

It was very comfortable and warm, and also very clean. The welcome pack was extremely generous, and the owner had thought of everything guests could possibly need. The double bed in the main bedroom was comfortable but a king size would have been preferable. The village is pretty, and the locals were pleasant and friendly. We hope to return soon.

The property itself was very clean and comfortable and, the selling point, has an enclosed garden so our dogs were able to be let out unaccompanied. Bliss! The owner has clearly tried very hard to provide everything that a holidaymaker could want and the 'welcome pack' was a treat.

Cannot fault the cottage in any way - it was clean, comfortable and well looked after. We came home with some ideas for our own home based on this. Garden was the right size, the welcome pack was great, the local pub and shop are wonderful and there are plenty of places to walk the dog. We loved it.

The beds and sofas super comfortable and the shower really powerful. Would return. A point to note is that we don't have a dog, and despite the cottage being very dog friendly there was no trace of 'dog' in the property. Very very clean.

The cottage was spotlessly clean and everything had been thought of. The decoration is lovely and the kitchen is superb. The garden is quite small but perfect for our medium sized dog and was completely enclosed and dog escape proof! It would be lovely on a warm summer's day to use the outside picnic table, alas not in October! There are lovely walks from the doorstep that we enjoyed with our dog. We took advantage of the chip van on Monday evening which was excellent and only £5.50 for delicious fish & chips. Would 100% give a 5* rating and would highly recommend and return if possible. • "The cottage is in a quiet, friendly village close to Louth."

There are two shops and a pub but more interestingly a visiting fish and chip van which is there for approximately twenty minutes on a Monday. The food is very reasonably priced and very good. The cottage itself is excellent and absolutely spotless. The quality of furnishings is again excellent; sofas and beds were so comfortable. Central heating was very effective and the already generous settings could be changed. The kitchen was so well equipped with even an apron being provided. Then there was the welcome box; above and beyond what you could expect. Products obviously bought from the local shop and sufficient for a snack on arrival. The garden is well maintained and more importantly dog proof. My dog loved wandering in and out of the patio doors; we loved knowing he was safe. Great area for dog walking too. The village itself is well situated for visiting various places in Lincolnshire with good road access. There are not enough superlatives to describe this cottage. It is beyond what one could expect from a holiday let and is in the the top two of cottages I have visited. The welcome pack is so generous and is the best I have ever received. The Stables is a home from home and I cannot recommend it highly enough.

A clean, fresh and modern home built in a good design. The upstairs shared bathroom was a nice design with a large walk in shower and a bath tub. To have loads of extra towels, t towels, etc really helps while you are staying away. There is also a downstairs loo and utility area with washing machine in. We have staycationed a lot and this was one of the best! The extras include, a television in both the bedrooms, plus a fan which came in handy for a comfortable nights sleep - as we experienced really hot weather on our stay in August. (The plastic pillow protectors didn’t help, so I removed mine) Everything was left in working order and easy to use and To have two shops and a pub in this rural village is a blessing, and it is a lovely quiet one with very little traffic, except for the tractors who are busy with the harvest. There are country walks from the door with lots of wildlife and horses to see. The little private garden is (small)dog friendly and there’s ample space to park up to two cars near the back door. There is a garage filled with extra stuff like a bbq but we didn’t need it, perhaps will do on our next stay.

Everything worked as it should. Great shower. Wifi a bit slow but probably can't be helped in this location! The village is lovely and was nice to have two shops and a decent pub within walking distance. I did have to get some descaler for the kettle from Jenny at the J Ward shop, she really does have everything! Only things that would have improved our stay would have been maybe a hosepipe outside to rinse the dog off after very muddy walks, and a king sized bed in one of the bedrooms, but I'm just nitpicking now! Donnington on Bain is a friendly village wit two good shops and an excellent pub, serving a wide range of good food at most reasonable prices. We were very happy there, The Stables is a comfortable, modern property, well laid out, very comfortable, and spotlessly clean. Access to the off street parking is very easy and straightforward The cottage is warm, well equipped and easy to manage. Instructions were clear and accurate. The Stables is extremely well equipped, very clean, warm, comfortable and in a great location. We had an excellent week, just creeping in under the lockdown 2 wire, exploring a previously unknown part of the country, lots of great walking ( who said that Lincolnshire is flat ?! ) The house has everything you might need, bed was comfortable, great shower, fast wifi, easy parking, plus some things that you sometimes don't get, like manuals for all the devices and details of what does and doesn't go in the in the recycling. The wonderful Post & Pantry shop is almost next door, and the pub a two minute walk away; there's also another general shop in the village next to the pub but we didn't need to use it. With Covid around we didn't eat in the pub but they do a great takeaway service, hopefully next time we'll be able to eat in and sample some local beer. And a fantastic welcome pack - the plum loaf was yummy and when I saw that the Post & Pantry sold them just had to buy another one!
