  • "A beautifully converted coach house set in a quiet rural setting of north east Lincolnshire and near to the attractions of the area."

The warm and cosy property is well appointed with every modern convenience, just what we were looking for. Our hosts were very helpful and nothing was too much trouble. The welcome pack of tea, coffee, milk and home made jam was very much appreciated, as was the information on locations to visit and recommendation on places to dine. We visited Donna Nook to see the seal pups and had lovely walks along the promenade from Mablethorpe to Sutton on Sea. A relaxing restful break at the owls roost over the new year weekend, just what we wanted. Thanks to our host.

  • "A lovely week."

Delightful property with absolutely everything you could want for a self catering break. Friendly and helpful owners. Kind provision of very handy extras to get our stay started - tea, coffee, sugar, milk, toilet rolls, dishwasher tablets and the generous gift of some home grown veg. Nice quiet lane but not too far to the coast or pretty local market towns. Would highly recommend for a country holiday. Thank you Keith and Janet.

  • "Last minute booking."

Quite expensive but property in excellent condidtion and no criticism. However, the location is terrible. Very scruffy village about 2 miles up no thu road. No facilities whatsoever, and very little for miles around. So, combining cottage and location it failed to meet expectations and I cannot recommend it.

The owners were very helpful and even gave us some of their homegrown veg which was fantastic and my daughters loved going to see the chickens . We all enjoyed out stay here and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend.

  • "We had a lovely week staying at Owl's Roost."

From start to finish Keith and Janet made us feel very welcome. The cottage was even better that the photographs and description. It was possibly the best equipped cottage we have stayed in over the past 30 years. The location was lovely. As the hamlet of Gayton le Marsh in situated on a no through road there was very little traffic and the noisiest thing was the dawn chorus. If you are looking for a cottage to have a quiet relaxing break (which we were) I would highly recommend Owl's Roost.

  • "Beautiful setting, quiet and peaceful."

Very clean and well equipped, alot of thought had been put into the property. We loved the outlook although the weather was not good for us! We would highly recommend this accommodation if you want a nice quiet base , close to coast and Alford if you want to drive , but walks readily available if you up for it. We would happily return in the future, in fact we did'nt want to leave. Best holiday cottage we have stayed in, lovely owners next door. And yes we did see the owl most evenings.

  • "Due to exceptional circumstances we were forced to find temporary accommodation during the 2020 lockdown and were incredibly fortunate to find this absolute gem."

If you are considering a booking during this difficult period I cannot recommend this cottage enough; the owners take every care and the property itself is exceptionally well equipped and so it was simple to be self-sufficient; we were able to bake and make full roast dinners with the equipment in the kitchen as a clear example of this. You do need a car to be able to access the property and everything around it but regardless of whether you are reading this now or well into the future be assured there are wonderful things to do in the surrounding area. We loved the quiet beach at Hutoft, other beaches at Cleethorpes, Sutton-on-Sea and Mablethorpe. Louth and Alford are beautiful, and Lincoln and the wonderful Rand Park Farm are all close enough for a day trip. It's a wonderful area for walking and within a half mile radius we saw a barn owl, several deer and I am pretty sure a peregrine falcon! I cannot recommend this cottage enough, a tranquil oasis in a lovely area.

Alford is a charming market town in Lincolnshire. It is set at the foot of the Lincolnshire Wolds, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is about 11 miles north-west of the coastal resort of Skegness. There is a wide range of shops including a pharmacy, grocers and two butchers as well as a large shop which specialises in doll’s houses and their contents. Alford has become an important centre for arts and crafts with many markets held throughout the year. The main market is held in the Market Place every Tuesday and Friday with the craft market being held every August Bank Holiday as well as Christmas markets being held every year. Alford is known for its Grade 1 listed working windmill, which is used commercially to produce stone-ground organic flour. Alford Manor House is a central point in the town, with its exhibitions and museum as well as a tea room and open gardens. With Alford being set in the Lincolnshire Wolds, there are plenty of walking and cycling routes to follow or even take a trip to the Lincolnshire Wolds Railway or Claythorpe Watermill and Wildfowl Gardens, where you will find plenty of birds and animals, with plenty of space to sit and relax with great views of the old mill. Within 30 mins, you will find the seaside resorts of Skegness and Mablethorpe, with great beaches, making a great playground for children and adults alike. For something different, why not visit the towns of Louth or Horncastle, which both have a good range of shops and pubs as well as regular street and farmers markets? Whatever you decide to do, you will not be short of choice for your holiday in this lovely area of Lincolnshire.
