The photos don't do the barn justice. It is perfect. Very comfortable and everything we needed. The owner Denise couldn't of been more helpful and nice. We will definitely be returning

A very comfortable and cosy little retreat, and it was just what I needed. The location was perfect for sightseeing, very near the highway, but still peaceful and quiet. Also I very much enjoyed the evening treat of a cup of tea and a piece of cake, thank you Denise

  • "The property is in a great location in the village and has most of the things that you need."

We travelled to surrounding towns of Boston, Spalding, King's Lynn and Sleaford. As keen walkers we went out and about on foot a couple of times but we couldn't really find any footpaths and ended up walking mainly on small country lanes, I would recommend that the owners purchase a ordnance survey map for the local area and put it with the rest of local information. As for eating and drinking in the local area we called in at the Golden Windmill in Helpingham, which was ok, the Royal Oak in Heckington that was nice and the food looked good, although we didn't eat there and the Windmill Brewery in Heckington that serves its own real ales, imported larger and a selection of wines, well worth a visit. We also had a lovely Thai meal in Sleaford that we easily accessible by train as there is a convenient station in Heckington.

  • "Excellent holiday cottage."

Met by owner who gave information. It was cold outside but lovely and warm inside, we were visiting family so did not stay in during the day. We did not use oven for cooking but lovely kitchen, fridge /freezer etc. Cosy bedroom, plenty of storage and comfortable bed. Parking outside property very convenient. Very quiet, lovely village, we enjoyed hearing the church bells ringing one evening

  • "A delightful cottage in a delightful village."

The owners, Chris and Denise are very friendly and helpful. The welcome pack was most welcome. Lots to see and do locally with other places of interest accessible by train or car quite easily. We needed a quiet space after a hectic year and we certainly found that.

  • "Excellent location in village - close to shops, pubs etc and a good base for touring the area."

We used the train to visit Skegness and Lincoln. Cottage is perfect size for two people. Bathroom could do with some tlc and perhaps some shelf space. But all in all a great place to stay with helpful and friendly hosts.

  • "Heckington is a really nice village well served with pubs, shop, cafes, train station etc, the location of the house is great as its on the high street and so close to everything yet very quiet."

We experienced some issues with the TV as there was lots of interference, we did as suggested unplug the aerial a couple of time which worked for a period of time. Feel parts of the house are ready for renovation especially the bathroom, flooring and carpets. The bed is really comfortable. We had a great holiday.

  • "We were given a warm welcome when we arrived, and there was cake and biscuits waiting for us!"

The property is accessed down a colourful driveway and there is space to turn and reverse park in the space provided. Outside is an enclosed small sitting out area, which we used as the weather was quite good. Inside there are 2 settees with TV and Dvd (and drawer full of films) player. There was also Netflix! A new sleigh bed had very recently been purchased, we found it very comfortable. There was plenty of storage space. Note: the ceilings are all very low (my partner is 6'3) so had to be careful not to bump his head! The kitchen had all the usual amenities and a large fridge freezer. There were plenty of towels in the bathroom. Out and about, we found all the locals to be really friendly and chatty in the local pubs. If you like real ales then the 8 Sail Brewery bar is a must and is really cheap!! The Nags Head was so welcoming that we visited for the England matches. Great atmosphere. We never actually ate at the Royal Oak, but the reviews are good, especially for Sunday lunch. There are 4 good takeaways in the village, or food can be delivered to the property from Sleaford. We used the property as a base for cycling and the roads are really quiet. Though the road surface sometimes wasn't great. We would stay here again.

  • "This is the perfect place for a relaxing break."

The barn is clean, comfortable and cosy. The owners, Chris and Denise are very welcoming and although the barn is located in the grounds of their home they are not intrusive. The barn is located at the end of a long gravelled driveway and has its own parking space. It is very quiet and the village has a number of excellent takeaways within walking distance so there is no need to cook even though the barn is well equipped if you decide to make a meal. I would happily stay there again.

  • "Ivy house barn was larger than we expected, well equipped clean and warm, ideal for a couple with two comfy sofas in the lounge area, upstairs again is larger than it looks in the photos plenty of space and storage with lovely bed linen."

The owners were friendly and helpful but not intrusive at all, the village inn is a short walk away offering good reasonable meals lunch time and most evenings also there are several takeaways nearby. The location is excellent for visiting the many Aviation centres and the Bomber Command Memorial. I would recommend this accommodation, book it, you won't be disappointed

  • "The bed was really uncomfortable."

The mattress was very thin, you could feel the actual bed frame in your back and it was very squeaky. Basically, the bed is very old and needs replacing. Likewise the sofas. The kitchen was very clean and well equipped apart from the lack of dishes to cook a meal using the oven - just one small dish and a small baking tray. We like oven veggies so we had to buy extra dishes to enable us to do this. We don’t eat out, the lack of dishes made home cooking decidedly difficult. Otherwise, it was great! We would certainly return if the bed was replaced with a more comfortable one!

Thanks for your comments. The mattress is 6 inches thick with a memory foam topper. People often comment on how comfortable the bed is but we will check it. The sofas are high quality. Multi York and G-Plan brands. Professionally cleaned and renowned for comfort. There are three Pyrex dishes in the dresser to cook in plus an enamel dish and six foil containers. We always tell guests to ask us if they need anything. We are always keen to help Property Owner

  • "The cottage was not very clean."

In particular the oven was so filthy it could not be used. The bathroom left lots to be desired with the only shelf available almost falling off the wall. There was nowhere in the bathroom to put towels, we had to have a rack in the reception room to dry the towels.

Thank you for your comments, We’re so sorry to hear you didn’t enjoy the barn. We take great pride in ensuring it is perfectly clean. All surfaces and door handles are disinfected between guest visits, as well as thorough cleaning of the oven, hob, microwave, fridge freezer, shower, carpets etc. Any cobwebs are also removed, the grass is cut and tidy, the plants tended and gifts - wine, locally produced cakes and crisps etc left for all guests. We ask guests to raise any issues during their stay. We have also recently renovated with new flooring, paintwork, a brand new sofa, lighting. The barn is in excellent shape. Property Owner

  • ""A gem in Lincolnshire"."

Ivy House Barn (IHB) is a well furnished, comfortable and clean converted barn within the grounds of the owner's house and is accessed via a private driveway. The accommodation and patio garden are private and tranquil. It is a two minute walk from the village shops, pub and a good selection of takeaways. IHB is central to several towns and many attractions including a good number of Historic WW2 Royal Airforce stations, including some that are still operational, such as RAF Coningsby, which also houses the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and would have no hesitation in recommending this lovely barn conversion to anyone. Denise is great host and could not have been more helpful. We would gladly return to stay here again in the future.
