  • "First sight unimpressed as cobwebs around windows."

hot tap in bathroom loose and turns. Note to say "don't use bath as needs repair", nothing was done during our stay.. Most information in pack was seriously well out of date. curtain over front door did not pull across very easily. One of the single beds needs a headboard. However these thing are because the property is tired. did not stop us enjoying holiday and site is clean and peaceful.

  • "Very disappointed it was booked for a short break for a service users birthday."

when originally booking it said there was a hot tub but on arrival there wasn't one in the cabin and the staff supporting only found 1 hot tub on site which wasn't accessible to them. the cabin was very dated and all wood work blended in to one. it needs a good revamp and a hot tub on every cabin to avoid future miss understandings.

  • "Lodge facilities had everything required for a comfortable stay."

Lodge was surrounded by trees which looked beautiful, due to being Autumn and the lovely colours. Downsides were faint smell of urine throughout the lodge ( couldn’t locate the room, ) bought air freshener to mask the smell. Also dusty fixtures / ledges. On final day we removed all the bedding as requested, to find the pillows stained. Toilet seat fitting was very loose, so had to be careful.

  • "I enjoyed very much my stay at Lodge 8."

The setting among the trees, is quiet and peaceful, and I particularly enjoyed the wild flowers and lunatic squirrels. The facilities on site are very good, and more info in the lodge about them would be useful. The lodge is clean, with the occasional cobweb, but we are in a wood, and they form overnight! The beds are comfortable, and the linen and towels are of good quality. The heating is good and the lodge well equipped, including the luxury of sharp knives. WIFI was good considering the location, I used it everyday and had no problems. The shower was adequate but a double shower rather than a bath would have been easier. Access to the property would be difficult for those with mobility issues. The ramp to the door is good, with plenty of close parking, but the last step is high onto the porch, and a grip rail or wide half step would be useful. I found the key safe stiff and difficult to open. I would certainly stay there again.

  • "In these covid times things are different."

We couldn't check in until 16.00 and had to vacate the cabin by 09.00. This we were told is so the cabin could be thoroughly cleaned and sanitised. My wife had to spend the whole of our first day cleaning, dusting and removing cobwebs from the inside and outside of the cabin. (I couldn't help as our car broke down and I had to deal with that, very difficult with no phone signal and Internet so poor its not worth having) There was no information regarding local area and things to do. On our last day, as we were giving the cabin a proper clean, before we left, we found some games hidden inside the pouffe. It would have been useful to be told about this before we left so we didn't have to go and buy some! When it rained the roof let in water in the lounge. There is a bad smell, possibly drains, outside the cabin. There is a bees nest by the front door. There is a dangerous trip hazard by the front door(chicken wire around logs loose and sticking up, not easily seen) we felt this cabin was uncared for, as are guests using it. We left a day early and won't be back. You will also see this review on TripAdvisor.

  • "Another fantastic holiday thanks to sykes cottages, the lodge was well equipped, very clean & everything was provided as described the only point I would like to make is the step into the lodge is quite steep & as my sister is disabled found it a little awkward to enter & exit however,as we did not specify that one of our party was disabled this was our fault & not the fault of the agents ,looking forward to our next stay with sykes cottages ."

  • "A lovely and comfortable lodge and spotlessly clean."

Having complained about the cleanliness of the outside last year we were pleased to see that this had been improved. Having need of help once while we were there we were pleased to see the same young lady who helped us last year ( sorry cant remember her name) and again she sorted us out very quickly and with a nice smile on her face !! Which is a bonus these days Regarding cooking utensils it would be a bonus if they purchased some NON STICK frying pans as the present ones are a waste of time and should be thrown away. Overall a lovely holiday in a lovely lodge. We really enjoyed it Mike Bissex

  • "We had a very pleasant stay and the accommodation was very comfortable."

However, there were some cleaning issues on arrival. The bathroom was a little dusty, and we had to wipe down a shelf and there was also a thick layer of dust behind the loo roll holder. We were also surprised not to find an information folder that you usually get at properties listing things you may need to know, and telling you a little about the area. It took us a few minutes to locate the kitchen light switch (by the balcony door) and the main switch for the hob (back of the cupboard below and to the left of the fridge). We didn’t use the Jacuzzi but did receive feedback prior to arrival that this amenity is being removed from the list as there isn’t sufficient hot water to fill it. The wi-fi is only adequate for basic stuff, emails and google searches. Anyone wanting to work online or watch movies for example would be disappointed, and I think this should be mentioned. As a suggestion a DVD player would make a great addition to the amenities. Although there is construction work nearby with a little noise, it did not spoil our holiday. We were out most of the day, but again anyone wanting a quiet retreat may be disappointed. The best part for us was hearing the owls hooting at night and we were lucky enough to have a Tawny Owl sit in a tree right outside the balcony.

  • "The smell was so strong when entered the lovely cottage and took very long to go or get used to it."

.. We filled the Jacuzzi thinking to enjoy it but insects started to creep out of the pipes on sides !! spiders and their webs in cupboard , the oven didn't work for a cozy night meal and when we called for help to the person who we have a number and asked him about the oven in very gentle way , I greeted him by saying Good evening , he stayed silent, I replied can you hear me, he said yes I can hear you !!! , he said he is responsible for just about the booking he tried to help although was defending the owner not sure why ? or how ? as he said same happened last week with other customers , after trying several times it worked so we thought to let him know and once he picked up the phone he started shouting loudly: "I'm calling her Now , I'm calling her Noww" ... before even listened to what I was going to tell him, my phone was on loud speaker , and all the family heard him how loud he was unnecessarily, they were all shocked of this attitude ...so really we need to put a complain about all that . Also there was a paper with numbers to contact in the cottage if we need anything , and as some of the cupboards were looked we wanted to inform them , so I called and a lady answered , when I greeted her and told her what the issue is ,, she said send me message I can't hear you without saying sorry or Bye ... So that was bad communication skills in tourist area .

  • "Overall the cabin was nice, very clean on the inside and comfortable."

It was a great base to visit local attractions. A few things to note though: The location unfortunately is a building site, there is a lot of dust kicked up over all of the outside space. This is probably the reason why none of the advertised wildlife was apparent. Advertises a jacuzzi bath, which it does have, but the immersion tank isn't large enough to fill it so after the tank depleats you have room temperature water. The fridge didn't shut properly, we didn't realise until a couple of days in that everything at the front of the fridge was warm and spoiled. We had to throw away a fair amount of food. We called the number for the maintenance team but due to signal couldn't get through. Eventually texts got through and they came to look as well as replace some lightbulbs that were missing, although they didn't change all of them and one was not able to be fixed as the fitting was broken. They adjusted the door on the built in fridge but it was still not ideal. They said they would be back and would text us before coming but we got no further contaxt. Luckily we used our camping fridge for the remainder of our trip and repurchased the spoiler items at our own cost. The WiFi isn't suitable for much more than sending text based messages. It is a remote location but should be mentioned when it states WiFi that it's not suitable for watching videos or even sending pictures. Being rural there are suspect smells at times, we counted at least 8 air fresheners plugged in in the cabin and there were countless more in draws etc.

  • "Our holiday was absolutely first class the only thing we were unhappy about and the reason I did not give the cleanliness full marks was because whilst the inside of the lodge was perfect in every way but the outside was a disgrace."

It was filthy including the balcony which was not only dirty but was also covered in cobwebs and dirt and dust. This also included some of the outside furniture. We would like to say that the service staff ( Tracey ) which we had need to use on a couple of occasions were again first class. Nothing was a problem. The spa was really lovely as was the beautiful golf course, We would certainly go back and hope that the outside of the lodge was made a lot more presentable. Over all we thoroughly enjoyed our stay Michael/Carol Bissex

  • "This is the second time we have stayed in the lodges although this year was our first in number 8."

We couldn’t ask for any more from the lodge, the owners and the on site leisure centre. The woods are beautiful and so quiet. We sat many a evening watching the squirrels and birds feed on the decking. One evening we even heard the distinct call of a tawny owl (over the sound of the television) All the nearby market towns and attractions are no more than 40 mins away. Louth is so handy being so close, lovely butchers - Meridean meats and a beautiful old pub that serves delicious home made food - Ye Olde Whyte Swanne. We are so impressed with this location and park that we are returning again next year, with my parents to stay in a three bed lodge. Thanks again, see you next year.
