  • "Had a lovely pre Christmas stay."

The property was clean warm and cosy. It had everything we needed including the log burner. Our only recommendation would be a handrail for the steps as these were difficult in the icy weather.

  • "Hunters cottage is well located for both Lincoln high street for shopping, eating and drinking and the beginning of steep hill."

Those that know Lincoln will appreciate why it's so called. We walked up hill in about 10 minutes. The surroundings although in a student area was quiet at night and felt comfortable and safe. Decent parking for one car. 5 minutes to a lovely café bar, called kine and an easy walk to the theatre. The cottage has a pleasant sheltered garden, sitting out area catches afternoon and evening sun. Living room very comfortable, smart TV for essential catch ups, large bathroom, comfortable beds and generally a cosy warm environment. Kitchen well equipped nothing missing. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and if coming back to Lincoln would stay here again. Good cottage.

Thank you very much for your lovely review, we hope to welcome you back again at Hunters Lodge and glad you enjoyed your stay! Thank you Callie Property Owner

  • "At first glance, the cottage looked in need of some TLC, but inside was a totally different story."

the house is large and decorated to a very high standard. The beds and settee were really comfortable and everywhere very clean. One of the nicest places we have stayed in. loved the solar lighting around the courtyard garden. lots of lovely little touches inside that help to make it very homely. The steps to the cottage are very steep and I can understand why some people have mentioned it before. A hand rail would provide much needed security in wet weather or if there are mobility issues. Very near to the city for sightseeing . Gainsborough Old Hall worth a visit and on the way back ( if Wednesdays) there is a boot fair

Thank you very much for your review, the house does need repainting and is booked in to be done in June. We are glad you enjoyed your stay at Hunters Lodge and hope to welcome you back. Kind Regards Callie Property Owner

  • "Lovely, clean and comfortable home."

Good location, right in the heart of Lincoln within walking distance of the cathedral, castle, shops and waterfront. The off-street parking space was very welcome. There are about a dozen fairly steep steps down to the front door which would be tricky for anyone with walking difficulties. We had a lovely week here and would certainly recommend it.

  • "I had a nice stay at Hunters Lodge, the host family was friendly and helpfully recommended places to visit."

They made sure they were always available by phone if needed. The house is clean and spacious and well equipped, albeit a bit 'tired' but it is the end of a long holiday season. What I wasn't prepared for was the physical challenge which is not represented clearly on the website, the steepness of the steps into the property is challenging, steps were mentioned on the website but you cannot appreciate how steep they are till you need to run up and down several times to unload the car! Additionally whilst Hunters Lodge is on a flat road this road is halfway up a very steep hill, although very conveniently located for Bailgate, Castle and Cathedral Quarter at the top, as well as for the shops at the lower part of Lincoln - which is great if you are fit and healthy, it's very challenging if you have any mobility issues. Also, the house is located amongst some student residences so do not expect quiet all the time, but then it is a city! Overall, I would say its a great place to stay if you are fit and healthy.

We are glad you enjoyed your stay at Hunters Lodge, but sorry you found the steps a challenge. If mobility issues are a problem, then the city of Lincoln by its very nature of having been built on a Steep Hill does present challenges. Whilst we accept that the steps to the property for this reason may present a challenge to some with mobility issues, it is also worth pointing out perhaps that the on site off street parking to the property does go some way to mitigate the problem. Although the curbside appeal is not that good all that changes when you enter the cottage the rooms are spacious and very well furnished with quality items the beds are comfortable and the bedding clean and crisp All the electronic equipment and kitchen items worked perfectly, and the location is also ideal just a short stroll takes you to the center of Lincoln the local pub 50 yards away looks a bit rough and ready but is very welcoming and a venue for real ale enthusiasts Places you should take time to enjoy are the cathedral, the castle and about 2 miles south of the city the international bomber command center Please be aware that the steps leading down to the property are not for the less mobile but the off road parking was a great bonus

Thank you very much for your feedback, we are glad you enjoyed your stay at Hunters Lodge. Many thanks, Callandra Property Owner

  • "The best feature of this property is it's proximity to the city centre."

The city with it's stunning castle and cathedral and wonderful architecture, including an easily accessed walk along the walls is such a lovely place to visit and the Steam Punk festival made the experience extra special! The cottage was as we expected with a lovely paved back garden with fun lighting. You could hear the bells from the cathedral which was wonderful. It was generally very clean and tidy, although the floors and ceilings downstairs could have done with a sweep round the edges. I suffer from arachnophobia so seeing some well established cobwebs did make me uneasy. The kitchen was adequately equipped for the 4 of us on a 4 night stay, but I would have been disappointed if we were staying a week or more. We generally cook more if we stay longer, and bearing in mind up to 6 people could have stayed, having just 6 cups, plates etc. meant even more washing up than we expected! The shower was disappointing at first as you could either have it scalding hot or freezing cold! However, we did learn that using the economy button meant the water was a more bearable temperature, just less powerful! The beds were very comfortable and there was plenty of space for clothes storage. I think the carpets must have been recently replaced upstairs as they were so soft and fluffy you struggled to open and close the bedroom doors! Hunter's Lodge isn't perfect. However, it is a lovely, comfortable cottage, a short walk from the city centre. We would recommend it to anyone wanting to visit Lincoln and not wanting to drive during their stay. Thank you for the little extras too, they make such a difference!

Thank you very much for your feedback, we will take on board your comments. We don’t employ cleaners at Hunters Lodge, I do all of the cleaning and laundry myself, so was disappointed to hear you felt there were some “well established cobwebs” and “the floors and ceiling could have done with a sweep around” I always do my best to leave Hunters Lodge in the condition which I would like to find it. Pleased to hear you enjoyed your stay. Many thanks Callandra Property Owner

Good to have the parking place offroad. It's position in Lincoln could not have been better - 10 or 15 minutes walk to all attractions from top to bottom. And so quiet. We would recommend it 99%, but would have liked coat hooks in the hall!
