  • "The property is situated in a really nice part of the countryside not too far from Lincoln."

We found that there was no noise at night and no light polution which was great. Where we live we have both and it was nice to sleep undisturbed. The accomodation was adequate for our needs and the people very helpful.

The studio is spacious and well equipped; it's also well designed with a large walk-in wardrobe to keep clothes and other clutter out of sight. In the evenings, the view over the abbey ruins at sunset is beautiful. I do hope to go back for a fourth visit!

The owners welcomed us and then left us to it which was great as really relaxed which is what we needed. The roof in the toilet was the only negative as caught our heads more than once but not enough to stop us returning.

  • "This was my second visit to this beautifully designed and well equipped studio."

The location is ideal: in very quiet countryside, with wonderful views, but only 2 miles from a main road into Lincoln, making getting out and about easy. I loved going back there each evening. The owners are kind and helpful - even to fixing the catch on my car boot when it wouldn't close on departure. I hope to return.

  • "I'd never before hired a studio, so wasn't sure what to expect, but in the event I was delighted with Abbey Cottage."

It was far more spacious than I'd anticipated, it was carefully and well furnished and the space had been very well designed with a large walk-in wardrobe so I could keep my clutter out of sight. The balcony overlooking the fields and the abbey ruins was a great touch and most evenings were warm enough to eat outside. The environs were lovely so if I go back it will be with binoculars and a bird book to see and identify the many types of birds around.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Abbey Cottage which is clean and comfortable. Surprised and disappointed that the owners Carole and Jon, living on site, did not come out to say goodbye when we left.

The accommodation was very comfortable and well equipped. The only comment I would say is that you may struggle with using the shower if you are over 6 ft tall due to the slipping roof but I would highly recommend this apartment. The owners are very friendly and helpful.

  • "Carol and John were good hosts, giving us eggs and potatoes freshly dug."

The studio was wonderfully comfortable and the views and wild life excellent. The studio amenities were good although we could have done with more than 1 tea towel and a coffee perculator (the latter quickly found). The bed and sofa were relaxing and a good choice. Our only concern was the shower, essential for 65 year old plus like us, which i found temperamental and possibly down to the relatively low water pressure, number of people sharing a common water supply and using the facilities at the same time as us. Our dog Harry enjoyed great freedom of the extensive lawns and our hosts were very accepting of his adventures. All in all a good value holiday with peace and quiet of some lovely walks and woods. A welcome pack was mentioned in the visitors log but we did not receive one.

Great for country walks and beach. Cannot fault this fantasic quite location. I now have a sulky dog on return who stands looking out of the window wondering what has happened to all the wildlife. Would definitely recommend for an enjoyable stay. We will go back

Lovely and clean and a great view from the window, we saw lots of different birds, owls, kestrels, swans, egrets and ducks. Had some lovely sun rises and the stars are brilliant at night. Lots of pubs a short drive away recommend a visit to the Dam Busters Inn at Scampton, saw the red arrows practicing while driving towards the pub, what a sight that was, they did a loop over the field right by us, wasn’t expecting that. You will have to take your own dish cloth and washing up liquid and also milk although tea, coffee and sugar are provided for when you arrive.

  • "To overlook the ruined remains of Barlings Abbey was a privilege hard to overstate."

They stood in a field grazed by a handsome herd of Pedigree Longhorns (non-threatening). The ruins are part of the unique Witham Abbeys chain of nine monasteries, all within a few miles of each other. They are set in flattish landscape amongst the Bardney Limewoods scatter of semi-ancient woodlands, a couple of which are within easy walking distance besides hedgerows and becks in handsome farmland. In springtime there are plenty of wildflowers. By the way, the grand but inviting Tudor mansion at Doddington has a fine informal garden with spectacular wild flowers by its stream. All in all it is exactly the world all those young bomber pilots fought and died for in WW2, and they are commemorated everywhere around.
