  • “Landsdowne is pretty much perfect in respect of location with all amenities in walking distance such as a supermarket and town etc.”

The cottage is an annex of the owners house so is small but perfectly formed with everything you need for a long weekend. The cottage is an annex of the owners house so is small but perfectly formed with everything you need for a long weekend. I think if you were staying for a week you would struggle with the size of the bins! They have the most organised and informative welcome book I have ever seen which was great however we did struggle a little with turning the oven on! Also prudent to mention that you have to hold down the red button on the remote to turn the TV on! The grounds are extensive but there is no barrier between the owners garden and your bit of land which was a little daunting as they have an ageing dog which was a little grumpy with our youngest dog on the one occasion that we saw it, so we did feel like we couldn't just let them loose to play. The hot tub is great but we could have done with it being a little warmer now the cold nights are drawing in. And the courtesy slippers which is a fab idea, aren't quite enough to ensure a comfortable trip to the hot tub area which is pebbled. We travel a lot and stay in a lot of cottages so these little things are nit picking because on the whole it's a lovely little get away. I think they could benefit from a few personal touches like maybe fresh eggs left from the chickens that they talk quite extensively about in the book, but the owners are selling and possibly just doing enough to keep the cottage at a good standard. We did enjoy our escape but would not go back to this particular one again.

The property

This attractive, single-storey brick annexe adjoins the owners’ home near the centre of Market Rasen, a popular market town in Lincolnshire.

Set entirely across the ground floor, with a bright and spacious open plan living area, the cottage provides very comfortable accommodation for couples and families.

The cottage has contemporary furnishings, a cosy woodburning stove and both bedrooms have the advantage of en-suite shower rooms.

French windows run the width of the cottage, giving access to a private garden with a raised ornamental pond and a picnic table, perfect for alfresco dining.

Guests also have the exclusive use of a hot tub in a secluded, semi-woodland corner of the garden.

A short stroll brings you into the centre of Market Rasen, where you will find an excellent selection of restaurants, pubs and tea rooms.

Nearby, Willingham Woods is a relatively unknown, hidden gem, with miles of open access pine woodland that is perfect for walking and cycling.

Golf, coarse fishing and trekking are available locally and the National Hunt racecourse is just a fifteen minute walk from the property, making it ideal for horse racing enthusiasts.

The city of Lincoln, with its spectacular hilltop cathedral and castle, home to a copy of the Magna Carta, is just a short drive away, whilst food lovers will enjoy a trip to Louth with its range of artisan shops and quaint, cobbled streets and market.

Slightly further afield, the miles of sandy beaches of the Lincolnshire coastline are to be found making this area an ideal base for discovering this peaceful, unspoilt area and all it has to offer.
