  • "The cottage was fantastic , with everything that you needed in the kitchen , lovely hob, oven and microwave , would have benefited from instruction manuals , also for the tv too."

The owner Ann rang us as we were approaching the cottage to open the gate by phone for us as she was out , the cottage was open for us and Anne came to introduce herself later , and gave us information about the village ect which was nice . We had a very hot week at the property . Anne let us pick some apples from her tree and I made a lovely apple cake when we arrived home . No visitor book available to write in ☹️ Which I love .

  • "A wonderful property which is way more than what is needed for 2 people."

Everything you need and more is there, massive outside seating area, another table and chairs, another table and chairs in the garden, bbq. Dog friendly also, our dog had a ball going out the kitchen then coming through the bi-fold doors, massive garden totally secure for our dog. Anne (I never met Micheal) is a lovely person who was always at the end of a text or a shout over the fence if needed.

  • "Great stay."

Anne was exceptionally welcoming and despite our late arrival. The accommodation was great, exceptionally comfortable, spacious with all the amenities we needed for the three days. We were exceptionally comfortable. It was wonderful to have a secure garden area for our dog. The whole trip was hassle free. Would definitely revisit. We would have liked to have less planned days and therefore enjoy the property more. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

  • "We had a wonderful, restful stay at Highfield with, given the time of the year, some very pleasant weather."

The facilities provided are all of a very high standard and Anne and her daughter Imogen, made sure that we had no problems at all with our stay. The owners went out of their way to help us without, at any stage, being at all intrusive. The village has shops, a pub and a restaurant and there is no need to travel further for any supplies. A lovely village and a great holiday home.

The layout is modern, open plan and extremely well appointed. The colour themes and interior design are excellent. The dogs enjoyed the outside space and the close proximity to the canal made walking the dogs easy and enjoyable. We had an extremely relaxing holiday. We hope to go back...

  • "A well appointed property in lovely surroundings."

The garden was fully enclosed which was good as we had a dog with us. The view from the garden is beautiful. Great canal walks nearby. The village has a good pub, fish and chip shop and local co-op. There is also a very good butchers shop too. There is also an outside plug which enabled us to charge up our EV car which was an added bonus.

  • "The property is fully equipt with everything you need for your stay (only thing missing is a baking tray) and the view out the back of the garden is beautiful."

There are great local amenities such as a Co op, a butchers, a deli, chippy and a pub. The property is also a good base for visiting the local area and further afield. Some great places to visit are: Cleethorpes (Fitties Beach is great for dogs), Lincoln, Clumber Park, Sherwood Forest and Creswell Crags. However, there were a few things that would of made our stay even better: Firstly, on arrival we were instructed to call the owners to gain access to the property but nobody answered. Luckily the gardener was there and let us in but this meant we didn't have a welcome from the owners. Secondly, there were a few cleaning issues: There was dog mess in the garden, dead flies and wasps on the floor and dust and cobwebs around the property. Lastly, parts of the garden needed tending to as there are weeds and brambles. I would also like to mention that there is farm and lorry road noise that can be heard in the property. Over all, we had a lovely holiday and thank you for our stay.

Cold beer and Prosecco on arrival was a lovely thought and much appreciated. The cottage is well equipped and the garden really is beautiful and very dog friendly too. We throughly enjoyed watching the sun set over the fields after lazy days exploring the local villages and walking the canals. Would highly recommend - hosts are lovely and we felt very welcome.
