  • "The property was in a lovely spot and very well dressed, but I would reiterate the comments made by another reviewer that the property could do with a general cleaning."

Bathroom was clean, but the kitchen, while on the whole clean, the fridge had not been cleaned out, I had to do it. There was no information pack to advise you how things worked. Therefore took a bit of time to work out the induction hob, it turned out it had been locked, by a previous occupant. Had no hot water for a while but this was resolved. There were other niggly issues that should have been checked before we came. No details of vets, doctors or dentists left and no suggestions of where to visit. Can't say we didn't enjoy our stay, but it could have been better.

Thank you Deborah for your comments . I would like to point out our cleaner leaves the property normally spotless so not sure where the general cleaning issues were , but will double check for future guests . Also It’s unfortunate on this occasion She/we haven’t checked the fridge after her visit .Your comment about the water heater is valid ( blown fuse on the switch ) however once I was alerted by yourselves , it was rectified within 15 minutes . I did engage with you several times during your stay and you did not mention any other niggly issues.? It does seem you want to unfairly exaggerate your negativity with your stay with us , we do pride ourselves in our friendly , helpful engagement with our guests to tell them about local pubs , places of interest etc ( which I did ) so we have found no need to provide leaflets , magazines etc , also I’m sure if you needed a vet or doctors during your short stay we are on hand to advise . Kind regards Michael and Anne Property Owner

  • "We were really looking forward to our stay in Highfield cottage."

On arrival the cottage looked just like the pictures, but on closer inspection there were some issues with maintenance and cleanliness. Examples maintenance: bottleholder in the fridgedoor was missing, handle to flush the loo was cellotaped on, one blind wouln’t come down, another wouldn’t stay up. Examples cleaning: cobwebs (and spiders) in every corner, crumbs in kitchen cabinets and an oven which could do with a good clean. Having said this, the bathroom and bedroom were clean and tidy and the towels new and really fluffy. After a while we were able to look past the issues as mentioned and had very enjoyable time. Highfield cottage is built to a high standard and is beatifully decorated, it just needs some tlc.

  • "Our stay at this beautiful cottage was amazing."

It was very clean and well equipped. We were made very welcome. The cottage was set in a peaceful location. We took our dog and the garden was secure and safe for him. There were plenty of walks near by, where we could let him off the lead. In the village there was a chip shop, food was excellent, certainly a must if you stay here. We have stayed at a number of cottages over the years, this was far the best. The cottage and location could not be faulted.

It was bigger than ALL one bed properties that we had stayed in. The views of the back garden and beyond were great. No overlooking. Garden was 100% secure for our small dog. All equipment in property worked. Plus was the size of tv, Internet that worked and ability to access Netflix and Prime TV. Owners were helpful but not intrusive.

  • "The bungalow was lovely - very spacious and and so was the garden."

It would have been helpful to have instructions for the cooker and although there was instructions for the heating it took awhile to get the heating right so just a hand written explanation would be nice. There was some cobwebs in the corner by the bed but overall the place was very clean. I would highly recommend this holiday home and hope to return next year.

The owner Ann rang us as we were approaching the cottage to open the gate by phone for us as she was out , the cottage was open for us and Anne came to introduce herself later , and gave us information about the village ect which was nice . We had a very hot week at the property . Anne let us pick some apples from her tree and I made a lovely apple cake when we arrived home . No visitor book available to write in ☹️ Which I love .

Everything you need and more is there, massive outside seating area, another table and chairs, another table and chairs in the garden, bbq. Dog friendly also, our dog had a ball going out the kitchen then coming through the bi-fold doors, massive garden totally secure for our dog. Anne (I never met Micheal) is a lovely person who was always at the end of a text or a shout over the fence if needed.

The facilities provided are all of a very high standard and Anne and her daughter Imogen, made sure that we had no problems at all with our stay. The owners went out of their way to help us without, at any stage, being at all intrusive. The village has shops, a pub and a restaurant and there is no need to travel further for any supplies. • "A well appointed property in lovely surroundings."

The garden was fully enclosed which was good as we had a dog with us. The view from the garden is beautiful. Great canal walks nearby. The village has a good pub, fish and chip shop and local co-op. There is also a very good butchers shop too. There is also an outside plug which enabled us to charge up our EV car which was an added bonus.

  • "The property is fully equipt with everything you need for your stay (only thing missing is a baking tray) and the view out the back of the garden is beautiful."

There are great local amenities such as a Co op, a butchers, a deli, chippy and a pub. The property is also a good base for visiting the local area and further afield. Some great places to visit are: Cleethorpes (Fitties Beach is great for dogs), Lincoln, Clumber Park, Sherwood Forest and Creswell Crags. However, there were a few things that would of made our stay even better: Firstly, on arrival we were instructed to call the owners to gain access to the property but nobody answered. Luckily the gardener was there and let us in but this meant we didn't have a welcome from the owners. Secondly, there were a few cleaning issues: There was dog mess in the garden, dead flies and wasps on the floor and dust and cobwebs around the property. Lastly, parts of the garden needed tending to as there are weeds and brambles. I would also like to mention that there is farm and lorry road noise that can be heard in the property. Over all, we had a lovely holiday and thank you for our stay.
