"Great holiday the only problem was the double bed was too low anybody with mobility problems would have trouble getting in and out."
"Hare Cottage is absolutely wonderful."
Very comfortable, well decorated and designed. We enjoyed a very peaceful and relaxing time there.
"Amazing place to stay, so comfy and clean."
Owners were incredibly friendly, would 100% stay again
"Lovely little bungalow, clean and comfortable with everything we needed."
Wasn't aware that the property was in the owner's house grounds but that wasn't an issue other than looking for the address Hare Cottage and really we were looking for Mount Pleasant so we weren't sure whether we were driving into someone's house or our holiday destination. The property was a great base, you can get to Lincoln by train and you can also walk to the racecourse if you are staying when there is a race meet on. There are lots of walks in the area too.
"We were underwhelmed with this property."
The decor was tired, a lot of the crockery was not properly clean and there was a distinct smell of dog. On the plus side the shower was good and so was the WiFi.
"Lovely cottage in the middle of the countryside, very peaceful and lovely walks from the doorstep."
Cottage was cosy and had everything we needed.
"No, an excellent cottage."
No problems at all.
"We had a very comfortable and relaxing stay at Hare Cottage which was a perfect base for exploring Linconshire and within an easy 20 minute walk to the restaurants, pubs and shops in Market Rasen."
We enjoyed meals at the Advocate Arms, The Olive Tapas restaurant, Kings Arms at Tealby and takeaway fish & chips. Our 'local' was the Aston Arms in the main square where, according to my husband, the landlord served the best pint of Black Sheep. The cottage itself was really comfortable and well-equipped for the 2 of us and our Border Terrier pup and included unrestricted access to the large garden and loads of walks on the doorstep. Gemma, George, Bethany, Joseph and Ted made us feel SO welcome. Thank you, Joan & David (Melrose, Scottish Borders)
"A lovely, comfortable very well equipped cottage, a great base from which to explore Lincolnshire."
Owned by a lovely family. Delicious fruit cake on arrival.
"The Cottage was excellent great for what we needed, the owners were very friendly and helpful."
The are was very good lots to do and coastal place not to far away. All in all a very good week away in a very nice cottage, i would rent again in. The future
"Hare cottage is a good sized cottage for two and is attached to the owners’ home with access to their large garden."
There are some lovely walks directly from the cottage and Lincoln is within easy reach. Moggs Eye beach is about an hour’s drive away and is wonderful for dogs and has free parking and toilets too! Although the property allows dogs it is worth noting that dogs have to be kept on a lead within the grounds of the property. The notes in the welcome book states that a dog basket containing treats, food and water bowls, blanket, poo bags and a towel and cloth is provided. We could not find the basket so asked the owner and was told that they didn’t provide the basket any more as previous guests had stolen the items! There were no detergent tablets left for us as stated in the book. The towels were well worn and I had to re-washed them as they smelled as if they had been left to sweat in the washing machine for too long. We found some opened half eaten packets of crisps in the kitchen cupboard and also a selection of prescription medicines which had been left by a previous guest. Unfortunately on our first evening at Hare cottage we had to remove at least 7 beetles from the property. Sadly this was a daily ritual - maybe the cottage should be renamed Beetle Cottage!
"We had a enjoyable and restful holiday"
"It was so peaceful, being a country lad took me back to a slower more relaxed way of life."
Everyone we met was so pleasant and took the time to speak, was wonderful.
"The cottage does not have a key safe despite all your literature saying so and giving us the code number."
Also, there is no shaver point in the bathroom which some guests may find to be a problem. The cottage is very nice, clean and tidy, spacious and close to all the amenities in Market Rasen. A good place to visit. The hosts are extremely welcoming and helpful.
"The cottage was lovely and had everything we needed."
A big thank you to our hosts who made us feel very welcome. We look forward to staying at Hare Cottage again in the future and have recommended it to our friends and family.
"We struggled with the heating it was on in the night but not so much in the day."
The bed was very low but very comfortable.
"Hopes were high for Hare Cottage and it didn't disappoint in anyway."
Fabulous cottage with all anyone would need. Attractive spacious but cosy cottage. Comfortable bed and fantastic shower. We were blessed with good weather and were able to sit in the garden on comfortable rattan chairs with small table just right for a glass of wine or a morning coffee while soaking up the rays. Arrived to find goodies which included a scrumptious fruit loaf. Definitely on my must visit again list.
"No thank you as we were completely satisfied"
"The cottage is beautiful, very comfortable and well equipped."
The shower is fantastic and the bed really comfortable. The decor of the cottage is a lovely mix of modern and traditional, all very tidy and cosy.
"This was our second visit to this lovely cottage as it certainly exceeded our expectations on the first visit."
Couldn't recommend it enough. George and Gemma couldn't be more helpful. Definitely worth a visit.
"Hare Cottage is in a lovely rural location and has a large garden to enjoy."
Easy walks for the dog on the lane adjacent to the property and across public footpath into Market Rasen, handy for essentials and we enjoyed a beer or two at the Advocate PH. The cottage is very well presented, large rooms and well equipped kitchen, nice home baked cake left for our arrival. 30 mins drive to Lincoln and Louth both worth a visit and beautiful woodland with picnic area only a short drive away.
"We enjoyed our break at Hare Cottage."
The cottage was very spacious, well furnished, very clean and had everything we needed. The owners were away for a few days but had left a welcome pack and numbers that could be contacted if we had problems - there were none, it was peaceful and relaxing. There was no private garden but we had the use of the owners very extensive lovely garden. The cottage was located on the outskirts of Market Rasen, with pleasant walks nearby and close to the places we wanted to visit. Thanks to the owners for providing a lovely base for our break.
"This was a lovely staycation break at the Hare Cottage for my husbund and I."
We were not sure what to expect being our first UK break but it was lovely. The kitchen had everything we needed to be able to cook theoughout our stay. Upon arrival there was some milk in the fridge, cake in a tin, tea coffee and sugar all available in sachets in tins! Everything was kept in its place and left out neatly. We met the owners and Teddy their lovely playful friendly dog throughout the week, they were also very kind and helpful. But generally it was a lovely quiet stay for a peaceful getaway. The town Market Rasen had a Tesco Supermarket and Petrol station, so it was convenient to wither walk to or go by car to get some last minute things. It was a much needed break away!
"Lovely location, friendly property owners and amazing location."
Myself and my Girlfriend had an amazing stay here. Highly recommended.
"It was a lovely place to stay."
Very friendly and welcoming.
"Beautifully furnished accommodation very comfortable and cosy."
A welcome pack of tea coffee and milk and a delicious fruit loaf were waiting for us on arrival which was very much appreciated. We found the location a great base for exploring and even made it to the beach a couple of times. Lots of walks for the dog such as Willingham woods nearby and Hubbards Hill at Louth.
"Very quiet and peaceful."
An ideal base for exploring the Lincolnshire wolds and beyond. High standard accomodation, very clean. New Year break and mince pies left for us.
"VERY COSY, COMFORTABLE AND WELL APPOINTED COTTAGE."
"The cottage was as described and photographed."
Our only problem was how to work the heating as the weather had turned cold, but a phone call to the hosts sorted that out straight away. Milk, tea bags, coffee sachets, a loaf and a very good lemon cake were a pleasant surprise on arrival - a very nice touch.
"A very beautiful cottage in peaceful surroundings."
One of the best holiday cottages we have been to. If you are a keen walker there are many places nearby Wilingham woods is one of them
"A spacious, nicely decorated cottage, in quiet and very pleasant surroundings and with good access to main roads."
Owners George & Gemma were very friendly and helpful and Gemma had baked a very tasty fruit loaf which was much enjoyed. Everything was spotlessly clean and furnishings were most comfortable. Definitely to be recommended for a peaceful holiday. Thank-you. Bob & Liz.
"We enjoyed HARE COTTAGE the hosts were unbelievable George and Gemma and so friendly."
"Best cottage so far that we have been to."
Gemma and George are great hosts and not intrusive in any way yet can’t do enough for you. lovely welcome pack on our arrival. Wish them and their lovely children all the best for this new venture in their holiday let. Can highly recommend a visit to this property. Joyce and Ian.
"Lovely cottage very roomy in a rural setting but not to far away from Market Rasen."
Owners were lovely even baked a lovely lemon drizzle cake which we loved. I would recommend this cottage.
"I did not appreciate receiving emails from Sykes Cottages between Midnight and 6 in the morning"
"A lovely cottage ,well equipped and clean."
Lovely owners who made you feel very welcome and to whom nothing was too much trouble. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would return if we were to visit the area again. Many nice walks for the dog close by.
"A lovely cottage, spacious rooms but cosy atmosphere, beautifully decorated and well kitted out."
The owners were very welcoming and we enjoyed visiting the area, despite being unlucky with the weather. An enclosed area in the garden would be useful for the dog. Very good value for money.
"This is a delightful cottage set in beautiful gardens."
The hosts Gemma and George have created a wonderfully comfortable space to relax and enjoy this peaceful spot. The property is furnished to a great standard and the large bed is very comfy. The rooms are spacious and spotlessly clean. Everything you need for a home from home stay. Including a warm freshly baked cake on arrival. This is a definite keeper.
"Hare Cottage is comfortable, modern and clean."
We found out stay here both peaceful and relaxing. A perfect base for exploring Lincolnshire and just a short walk into Market Rasen. We would definitely recommend and look to stay again next time we visit Lincolnshire.
"My wife and myself along with our pet dog Bertie decided to take a relaxing weeks break in Lincolnshire, a part of the country we had not visited previously."
We decided on a cottage and we found a one bedroomed cottage which ticked all the boxes for the type of property we were looking for. The property is Hare Cottage which is situated a very short stroll from the centre of Market Rasen. We arrived at the cottage around teatime on the 15th may 19 and realised immediately that we had discovered a true gem. The property consisted of a large living room with a deluxe corner sofa that opens up into a double bed. A large bedroom, with a gorgeous and comfortable double bed. Also adjacent to the living room is a modern bathroom with an extremely good quality power shower. A perfectly equipped kitchen sits at the end of the short corridor. The whole property is superbly furnished with high quality furniture throughout and it was absolutely spotlessly clean. Every detail had been thought through by the couple who own the property meticulously. The property is located adjacent to the farm house which is the home of the owners George, Gemma and their two young children Bethany and Joseph. They are a lovely young family who are extremely friendly and approachable,. Nothing is a problem to them. This is their first venture in property rentals and their standards are extremely high in ensuring people have a thoroughly first class stay at their property The Cottage is in the grounds of the farm house and is surrounded by beautiful well maintained gardens. Just outside of the entrance to the farm the family run a livery business and a workshop. George is only too happy to show guests around the building to see the horses if they are in the stalls or adjacent field. There are a number of walks around the farm and nearby land but for those who want longer waks Gemma has collected maps / information leaflets ( inside the cottage) of walks throughout the Lincolnshire Wolds, allowing guests to plan for their next venture. Market Rasen Is a small town but visitors will find a Tesco and Co op super markets for their shopping convenience along with a number of quaint family run business outlets, restaurants, take away outlets and public houses. My wife and i found every person we spoke to throughout the week were helpful and friendly and wanted to quiz us as much about Durham where we are from as we were to find out about Lincolnshire. In Market Rasen there is a small railway station with a good local service. We found it easy to use and travelled to the city of Lincoln. Using our two together rail ticket it cost us £4.50 open return. The journey only takes 15 – 20 minutes. Dogs travel free. The train does travel further a field. I think Cleethopes to the east and Newark to the west but all the information is displayed at the station. The station is unmanned and fares are paid for on the train. Other beautiful villages are on the doorstep accessible by car or the regular public bus service. To sum up Hare cottage is a fantastic place to stay, ideal for a relaxing laid back break with some superb walks. The cottage is a treasure as are the family who run it. Anybody who visits for a break certainly will not be disappointed. We will definitely visit this property again, more than likely later this year. A big thank you to George, Gemma, Bethany and George for a fantastic stay and we wish them good luck and success in their new venture. Graeme and Susan Raper plus Bertie the pup.
"We were made very welcome by George and Gemma."
They had provided a " welcome pack" which included an excellent home baked lemon drizzle cake! We found the cottage very comfortable, quiet but well located to access places of interest. The walks leaflets they provided were very useful. There were footpath walks available straight from the cottage and many only a short drive away. We especially enjoyed the walk on the Viking way from Tealby to Walesby via the "Ramblers church"and back, with far reaching views. A walk along Nettelton Top ended with lunch at a good tearoom in the village, followed by a walk around historic Castor. The bus to Lincoln has a stop near the end of the lane which meant we could visit there without driving , using our pensioners bus passes. Beautiful above average weather for February meant there were snow drops in abundance, daffodils beginning to flower and birds starting spring courting. A very pleasant base for rest and refreshment.
"V good will go back soon"
"Hare cottage is a really lovely place, enhanced by the lovely owners Gemma and George who went out of their way to make sure we enjoyed our stay there and were warm and comfortable."
This is a new venture for Gemma and George and I hope it is a great success. The welcome pack was great including home made cake which was delicious. The doggy basket was a lovely touch and much appreciated. Thank you for a lovely week in your beautiful Hare cottage. If we come to Lincolnshire again you can be sure we wouldn’t stay anywhere else.
"George and Gemma are really kind and helpful."
