  • "A comfy cottage with a welcome of a cream tea."

A well appointed cottage in lovely surroundings. Perfect to explore Lincolnshire. A great location.

  • "Stable End cottage is in such a peaceful area, with dark skies for some great stargazing."

It is simply decorated but we'll designed and has everything you need. It was impeccably clean and the furniture and equipment well cared for. We had instant hot water at all times and easily controlled heating. The cottage is close to some nature reserves and some good undulating walks, taking it quiet villages, interesting churches/castle ruins and historical buildings. Horncastle nearby caters for everything you need. We would not hesitate to return to Stable End Cottage and it's friendly owners.

  • "Comfortable spacious cottage and very much as described on the website."

As in previous reviews the wifi is slow but I had no problems with emails etc on my laptop but struggled to maintain a connection with my iPhone. Very well equipped and all equipment easy to understand (not always the case!) although the frying pan needs replacing. I would stay here again as it more than met my needs and is in a good location.

  • "A well kept, clean cottage with the benefit of beautiful surroundings and sighting of rabbits, squirrels, wrens and robins."

Scones on arrival was a lovely touch. Other than that we were able to enjoy our stay without intrusion from the owners.

  • "Spotlessly clean and the welcome pack was delightful, friendly hosts and close to Horncastle and Spilsby each 5/6 miles approx , one thing to mention is thier internet is poor due to location of the dip the building is in I guess , if you rely on internet for radipo / music channels / podcasts or playing games the internet is very hard to use and even phone calls on my mobile was scratchy at times , but perfect for relaxation and a great base to come back to after a day out."

I would suggest if you rely on the internet on offer for radio, emails etc then don't and we could not get radio station freeview either only TV to use either, so do take a radio if you will miss it , there is a private slightly uneven road to drive down and take the left fork through a short tree lined tarmac drive and sharp right into the Cottage , where the stable end barn is detached from owners property. Everything you could need is there and also use of a freezer in the barn next to the cottage , including chairs for sitting outside. I should have suggested to the owners about a radio when I was there as I am sure they would have obliged but I had to leave suddenly as my mother was ill, so never got to mention it . Highly recommend this place and the bed was so comfortable and the even a few dishwasher tabs, washing up liquid etc were there to start you off, on of the best places we have ever stayed. Thank you to the lovely owners.

  • "Lovely, cosy, spotlessly clean well furnished cottage."

The cottage was in a lovely quiet countryside position. The one disadvantage was that telephone and Internet services were very hit and miss. My EE mobile was unusable at times, probably due to the proximity of a mast.

  • "Lovely little hideaway that is great for exploring the countryside and coast."

Quiet and we enjoyed a great week of sunshine. Lovely small countryside park nearby and we loved tracing the history of those who went from Boston in Lincs to eventually found Boston USA. The misericords at Boston are superb. Comfortable bed at the cottage and good facilities for cooking, washing and plenty of parking space. The chairs for the dining table are a little small but otherwise the place was brilliant. Clearly well-kept and cleaned by the owners. Highly recommended.

  • "What a little gem for two."

I’ve stopped in lots of rentals and this is up there with the best. The attention to detail is fab. Nice and peaceful even though it’s next to the owner’s property. They are lovely, nice and friendly but left you alone to go about your own business. Nice touch with the cream tea. If you want to walk everywhere, this is not for you as you do need a car. That wasn’t an issue for us, we wanted peace and quite and a nice comfortable base and that’s just what we got.

The description is correct, though some extra direction sign-posts would have stopped us driving past the entrance.

  • "The cottage was a beautifully appointed little nest."

It is well hidden down a track but convenient for the Lincolnshire wolds and the coast. The weather was cold, wet and windy which made coming back each day to this snug bolthole all the more pleasurable. Internet connection is somewhat iffy so if you have to check your emails every day you might need to go to a cafe to do so but for most people it is good to get away from the internet for while. We would love to return to Stable End Cottage.

  • "This is a lovely new cottage with everything in it that you could need."

It is in the owners grounds with their house quite near but they do not interfere. We did meet the owner as he was out in the garden one day & he was very nice. The cottage is lovely & quiet & very clean & comfortable. There are several small villages around with lovely quiet roads with little traffic. We had a fantastic time here & are planning a return trip next year. There were milk , sugar, tea & coffee & also tablets for the dishwasher & washing machine & toilet rolls but the highlight for us was the scones with jam & clotted cream left for our arrival which was a really nice touch.

Cottage is well away from the road so there is no traffic noise. Well fitted out to cover all needs. For anyone who doesn't want to cook we recommend the pub in the village which does excellent meals.

  • "For us, it ticked all the boxes."

A quiet, out of the way location, yet easy access to the places we wished to visit. The Cottage appeared to be relatively new to holiday letting, as everything felt new and little used. It is clean and comfortable. Although it is very close to the owners house, they didn’t bother us, which was refreshing.

Owners made us welcome and then left us to it, which we prefer. Very comfy, clean, warm etc., Bed excellent, we both slept really well. Everything we needed for a great long weekend, just a shame we had to leave! Will definitely be back. (Just a suggestion but maybe include the owners contact telephone number with the key collection information)
