  • "The only criticism and its only a small wound be with no outside lighting when we arrived,, due to it being dark."

But apart from that we all had a fantastic time.

Very quiet and fantastic views from the highest point in Lincolnshire. Hot tub used daily and checked three times by owners during the stay. Everything you could want.

  • "Wonderful time at Castle Top Retreat."

Couldn't recommend it highly enough. Fabulous location and a wonderful property. Super clean and absolutely as described, couldn't have asked for more. Had a lovely weekend with family/friends for a 60th Birthday. Great property to relax in and plenty of space for everyone to chill out /suit themselves. BBQ hut was also great though agree with others who have said that taking a torch comes in handy (we had done so) for the walk back and forth as the evening gets later. All in, a wonderful stay and wouldn't hesitate to go back if we got the chance.

  • "Outstanding property with exceptional hosts, whose communication was first class, a well equipped kitchen and comfortable beds with quality linens."

Spotlessly clean and spacious. The views are amazing especially the sunsets, The terrace is beautiful and the hot tub a real treat. Unfortunately the sauna was not working but the hosts did all they could to remedy even though they were out for the day. Would be good to include a pizza cutter and a little bottle of washing up liquid and a broom. An absolute gem of a place and highly recommended, thank you Castle Top we really loved our stay. Xx

Thanks for your feedback and for looking after the property so well. Really sorry about the Sauna, I assumed it was working again after resetting the main fuse. Just had another look and It turned out to be the overheat sensor on the actually heater needed resetting (first time we have ever had that issue). Pleased the rest of your stay was a success :) Property Owner

  • "We enjoyed a fantastic time at Castle Top Retreat."

Thank you for making us feel really welcome. Everything was more than we hoped for. Restful beds, comfy, cosy sofa's, and a well equipped kitchen. We had the best time in the hot tub, sauna and BBQ hut. We were so happy to have the use of the tennis court and field for ball games. Lincoln and local beaches are within a 45 minutes drive away. We took advantage of the walks along local public footpaths, with views that were simply stunning. We only had one problem (the light in the BBQ hut tripped) but this was promptly fixed. Thank you for sharing your delightful retreat.

  • "Fabulous property in idyllic location."

Visited during heatwave so weather, location, setting could not have been more ideal. Despite size of our group, there was always lots of space to spread out. Comfortable beds, settees, large kitchen and very modern bathrooms all combined to make our stay a memorable one. Would re-book in a flash.

The accommodation was beautiful, very clean, comfy beds and well equipped. The hot tub and sauna was a great treat and the grounds offered plenty of space for the grandchildren to run and play. The owners were very helpful answering any questions we had. A brilliant and special family holiday and was sad when it was time to leave.

Everything we could have wished for. We would definitely revisit. Minor suggestions: - Well equipped kitchen but could do with some scissors. The rail in the entrance could do with hangers to put coats on as well as a hook in each bedroom for dressing gowns

The views from the windows and rooftop area were stunning. The place feels quiet and secluded. Gavin and Lynn (the owners) live downstairs and although we never met them in person, we knew they were available if we needed anything. I would certainly return to this place and recommend to others.

Lots to do in the changeable weather with the hot tub and sauna being used frequently, as well as the tennis court when the wind allowed. BBQ house was great fun, and practical given the time of year. Gavin was very helpful and we all had a great time at Castle Top.

  • "Absolutely beautiful home, spotlessly clean and really plush facilities."

As previous reviews have said, the only things lacking are certain basic kitchen items such as enough cutlery, kitchen tea towels (when you’re washing up for ten people the single tea towel became too wet to use!) kitchen roll, dishwasher tablets and washing powder. It would be helpful if these basics are provided given that the facilities are there to be used and we did pay a significant amount of money to stay there. However EVERYTHING else was an absolute dream and we loved it. Would highly recommend to anyone!

House and facilities are excellent with stunning views. Highlight is the BBQ house where we spent every evening. Just pack a torch as the walk back to the house in the dark can be tricky!

  • "Lovely location with great views, spotlessly clean, very friendly hosts."

The children loved toasted marshmallows dipped in chocolate in the BBQ hut on the last night. The kitchen was a bit light on cutlery and dishes for the 10 of us, but we managed OK. Access, as directed, from the top road was fine but the lower route chosen by our satnav was very rough in places. Really excellent value for money (at 2021 prices) but shocked to see that the same week next year (2022) will be about £1000.00 more.

  • "Castle Top is a real Treat!"

It delivered everything advertised we only wish we had the amazing weather we are having now. As a family it provided ample room for meals and socialising; but also enough space to ensure we were not cramped by any means. Smart TVs in all rooms were a gift as there was no arguing over Netflix! The Owners are also truly lovely people and ready to help out with any questions etc. I would only suggest that if you are to stay here and you are a family or group that cooks bring some extra Utensils and Ovenware. i,e, Pyrex oven dish , bread knife, large bowls and storage containers etc. We struggled to get food deliveries up to us but the BBQ Den was amazing and is all weather proof! Will visit again soon
