  • "Ashtree Cottage is one of the best equipped cottages in which we have stayed."

The facilities also included a washing machine, dishwasher, and toaster. The king-sized bed was very comfortable and the Wi-Fi was excellent. Although we did not make use of it, there was a DVD player and a large selection of DVDs provided. The property was secure with robust gates so that our dog was quite safe and there was plenty of parking space. Our only difficulty was with the shower as the sliding door is quite narrow- it was a bit of a squeeze as I am mobility restricted. Good quality towels were provided. The cottage has full central heating plus a wood-burner in the lounge. A nearby bridle path can be used for dog walking, but we also took our dog to Hornsea beach (great fish & chips), Spurn Visitor Centre (great breakfasts and dog friendly), Burton Constable Hall (great cooked meals and dog-friendly), Burton Agnes Hall and the Humber Bridge Country Park. It is advisable to refuel one's vehicle on route to the cottage as there are few petrol stations in the local area. Ash Tree Cottage is a credit to the owners and I have no hesitation in recommending it.

Wow, this feedback really makes it all worthwhile. Thank you so much Mervyn, we are so pleased about all the things you loved about the cottage and the places you visited near by, All of which we love and recommend too! We hope to welcome you back in the future. Property Owner

Thank you for your feedback Brian. I am sorry you experienced speeding passing traffic during your stay, it has been noted with the parish council. Agricultural traffic does increase dependent on the time of year as the local farmers prepare to get the food from field to fork, though I wouldn't say the T-junction you describe is exceptionally 'busy'. • "This cottage is well placed for Beverly, Hornsea and Spurn head but something of a stretch for the North York Moors."

The low maintenance garden was ideal for our very old dog. The cottage itself was clean, well equipped and comfortable. The description might have said that the cottage back and one side walls form the corner of two roads, one of which was quite busy. The village store at Patrington was very good; likewise the Cakey Bakey tea room.

Thank you for your feedback Gregory. The road you describe here does get marginally busier at this time of year naturally with an increase in rural farm traffic due to the location of the cottage being surrounded by countryside. I do hope it didn't impact your stay too much however. All of the cottages in this area come under the umbrella of North York Moors and coast, of course we fall under the coast element of that as you have stated. I am pleased you found the cottage to be well equipped and enjoyed our neighbouring village of Patrington, Cakey Bakey is a favourite of ours too, one of which we recommend in our welcome book! And as dog lovers ourselves we are pleased to see the garden was a good space for your dog. Thank you for visiting us, we hope to see you again in the future. Property Owner

  • "Ashtree Cottage was amazing - for such a small building it contains all you need for a couple to holiday in comfort!"

Its space has been used to its full potential and decorated beautifully. Kinuko was perfect host and even text'd us about a bird sighting down the road from the cottage as she knew we would be interested. Cottage is perfectly located for birdwatching at Spurn Point, Kilnsea wetlands and even the 1 hour drive to Bempton Cliffs was fine for a day out. Spurn point is an amazing place for nature - saw a Wryneck! It also contains so much military history and the Unimog trip is a must - even in bad weather it was great to ride down to the point in comfort and hear all about the place. It was our first visit to the area and Ashtree cottage was a great base to explore from and to return to each evening. It was peaceful and private - thank you Kinuko we hope to return soon.

Everything is even better than on the photographs. The bed, shower and reclining sofa are excellent.Kinuko is a lovely person and great host who has gone out of her way to provide a great place to relax and enjoy your break. The only thing that could have improved it for us as keen cooks who don’t eat out is a bigger fridge ,however we managed and it in no way effected our stay. There are walks and beaches close by.which are great with a dog..We would definitely return and recommend to others who want to explore this area of Yorkshire because of the very high standard of the cottage and the hosting of Kinuko.
