  • "We had a lovely week in Cedar Lodge at Tattershall CP."

The site is quite big and lovely to walk round discovering all it offers. It was not as noisy as I had expected except for the planes flying overhead but lovely to watch whilst sitting on the decking. The lodge was very clean and was well equipped. The hot tub was definitely a bonus and we enjoyed our time in that. I would say that the lodge could use a bit TLC ,the outside needed re-staining and a couple of the wooden decking boards needed attention. We did put a couple sucker hooks on the bathroom wall to hold the small hand towels as otherwise they had to be just draped over the toilet top. However I would go back as the beds were comfy and good quality bedding and towels were used. A tip for a lovely place to go was the secret walled garden. Very different. (Google it) and the cinema in the woods at Woodhall Spa. Very good communication with claire. I did email her a couple of times and always got a prompt response.

  • "What a lovely lodge."

We stayed from the 12th to 16th April. From making the booking to leaving the lodge everything went so smoothly. The kids absolutely loved it snd so did we, we didn’t want to come home. It was dog friendly too. The lodge was very clean and had everything we needed. The hot tub was a lovely bonus and was checked every day. The site is lovely and so much to do for the kids. Thank you, we will be returning.

The lodge was fantastic, had everything we needed and was very well maintained. Located close to main bars/ restaurants/ pools and ideal for our family. Hot tub was lovely, the children thought it was the best thing ever. Added bonus of the RAF typhoons flying over every day - will definitely be returning.

  • "After staying at previous self catering lodges, this far exceeded any other we had stayed."

Was very "home from home" loved the fact that there were drawers of magazines to read and jigsaws and games for children too. The beds were so comfy too. Will definately come again in the near future. Our only downside is that we struggled to find the lodge on the first couple of days! By the last day we had no problem!!! But that was our own navigation problems!!!! Have already recommended to many both friends and work colleagues, a perfect place to stay and unwind and relax esp in the amazing hot tub.

  • "The hot tub was not checked, treated or cleaned during our stay (one week)."

It went very frothy when the jets were on and the chemicals made everyone cough. Therefore it was only used the once which was very disappointing. The patio doors didn't fit very well and were sometimes an issue to close and lock. Cupboard space in the kitchen was very limited as one was locked (presumably the owners possessions in there) and the large cupboard underneath was full of bits of games and toys so we couldn't use it for storing drinks bottles/food items. I ended up shuffling the crockery around to make room for our things. The freezer was in desperate need of a defrost which made it look unclean and meant the door didn't close very well. Some of the dinner plates were chipped. Half way through the week the power to the cooker was lost therefore the clock went off and the igniter didn't work ... however there was a lighter and matches in the drawer so we were able to use it still. The kitchen blind cord was not attached so the blind had to be opened and closed manually by carefully rolling it from the top. Oven gloves would have been very useful ... a teatowel doesn't insulate against burns. The lamp in the corner of the living room could have lit up the whole site but in the event it just flickered on and off so there is a wiring issue or bulb issue. The shower room was tiny and the shower enclosure was really grotty looking. The toilet roll holder was hanging on by a thread. The shower room extractor fan didn't work ... probably because it was clogged up with fluff and dust. The duvet was a waterproof one which was noisy when you moved and the cover kept sliding off it! Aside from the lodge we found the site very scruffy with multiple potholes and limited pavements in the centre. It had rained for a few days and drainage is clearly an issue. The small play area clearly floods regularly which made it unusable ... this should be addressed. In order to use the larger, covered play area or indeed the swimming pool or restaurant required the purchase of an entertainment pass ... to the tune of £35 just for a weekend (I daren't ask about the price of a week long one) All of those facilities were fenced off. On other sites that we have used these sort of facilities are included in your stay. A small charge would have been more palatable. During our stay there was a lorry parked on the road near the centre for most of the week which meant that pedestrians, children on cycles and dog walkers had to walk in the middle of the road ... that said ... there are no pavements there anyway so the alternative would have been to walk in the muddy potholes. We certainly won't be revisiting this site anytime soon ... and may reconsider using Sykes Holidays for any lodge bookings in the future. Very disappointed.

  • "This accommodation/site is far from dog friendly If you were hoping to go away with your dog."

There's nowhere onsite to let your dog off the lead, there are no paths to follow you have to walk on the road of the site which is a very busy site with traffic. The site has many lakes but you are unable to walk round them. Luckily nothing phases our dog so if you had a dog who was scared of loud noise or fireworks this would not be suitable as the sound from the airbase is near on deafening which also ruined any chance of relaxation. There is a pub just outside the campsite which is not dog friendly, we were asked if we were in the car and could we leave the dog in the car. The campsite had entertainment facilities which cost us £25 to ente, more if you are in a bigger accommodation. This is absolutely not worth £25 as all you get is access to the pubs, arcades and swimming pool. You have to book to go in the pool on the day for a maximum of an hour. We were hoping to make use of the gym due to spending £25 for a pass but you had to pay extra on top to use the gym. The only perk of this was the nice rooftop 49bar which looked out over onto one of the lakes. The accommodation it's self is very run down especially the exterior. The kitchen and bathroom could do with updating and the sofas are extremely uncomfortable. The bedrooms are very clean, modern and comfortable. Someone arrived on our first day to say our hot tub didn't work properly but was still use able and would be fixed Wednesday, this was not fixed until Thursday so we didn't experience the hot tubs full potential as the jets did not have full power.

  • "It was a lovely area and the lodge was very clean and tidy."

The bathroom was a bit of a let down in standard to the rest of the lodge but still useable as just an update needed really. Communication with the owner was easy and straightforward.

  • "Cottage was OK but the settees was in need of replacing not much spring left in it, however the hot tub made up for it."

We found out we could not use the site pub for a drink or meal without a pass which was nearly £60 for the odd drink and meal so we did not bother.

  • "Everything from the day of the initial booking until the end of our holiday was first class."

The lodge was very clean and comfortable with very good quality bedding and towels. Although in our opinion the site is more suited to families rather than ‘oldies’ like us, this didn’t hamper our enjoyment of the holiday at all. I would recommend to anyone thinking of a holiday there to book the lodge.

It’s very close to entertainment but far enough away to not be noisy. The lodge smelt beautiful and was very clean we was kindly provided with tea and coffee. There is plenty of storage for unpacking and all essentials for cooking. The beds are comfy the duvet wasn’t to our personal preference but that’s only a minor detail overall it’s a lovely lodge and a perfect setting for unwinding,We have booked again for next year.

The park is not as dog friendly as expected with no space to run free or have a meal inside with bad weather, but enough utilities to cook your own meals with microwave , toaster, oven grill cooker etc . Sweet and cosy lodge I enjoyed

  • "The beds in this property made for an awful night’s sleep for the four adults staying."

The spring wires were pushing up through the mattress surface in all the beds. So uncomfortable that we chose to leave after 1 night rather than staying the three. Not to mention mould beneath mattresses and dripping of condensation onto one of our heads during the night! Despite raising this with both the owner & Sykes Cottages neither have offered any form of compensation and have tried to suggest that our issues were down to ‘personal preference’. Very unhappy customers & really disappointed - we do a hot tub trip every December and based on our experience following our stay, 2017 will be the first & last time we use Sykes Cottages given the resolution offered when we notified them that we’d had to leave early. Would also note that the property is extremely small, looks larger in the pictures but there is very little room in bedrooms around the bed & the communal area is small. Tattershall Lakes Country Park seems like a nice park, just a shame we weren’t able to experience much of it during our unexpectedly short stay.
