Lovely lodge in a quiet location. Lodge had everything we needed for a family of 4, and the hot tub was enjoyed daily!

  • "No one told me I would have a week with no rest as I had to listen and see JCBs, tractors and diggers etc go past right next to my log cabin."

They were building another cabin. We were right next to the entrance barrier so all the trucks and guests would stop at the barrier, look right and there our hot tub was where myself and my daughter who is 11 were. The hot tub had grit in it but because if you report it then you have to pay £100 for it to be emptied,I couldn’t do that.

The flooring really has seen better days and whoever cleaned it (if it had bean cleaned )had only wiped over the surface a welcome pack would be nice as would more than one roll of toilet paper parking for two cars would be interesting as we struggled some days to park having to leave the car anyware we could risking getting blocked in My advice is go somewhere else

  • "Absolutely disgraceful for the prices you charge."

The Belfry lodge needs a major refurb - washing machine was broke, flooring uneven and peeling away, mould in the bathroom, hot tub tatty and worn, decking around lodge tatty and worn, cutlery and kitchen crockery, pans etc dirty and cheap. Bed and pillows absolutely disgraceful, bed had a dip in the centre that me and my husband rolled into and the pillows smelled disgusting. There were spiders and webs in every corner of each room, is this place ever cleaned thoroughly ? Photos on the website made to look like the lodge is secluded when in fact the lodges are on top of one another, and lots of kids running around. Nothing around locally to walk to......would never return and will not recommend to anyone. Worst weekend away & we travel extensively. £500 to stay at a shabby run down self catering lodge in dismal surroundings - disgraceful !!!!!!

So I gave it a very good hover round and I had to move the sofas which I shouldn’t have to do when I’m on holiday. I’m also asthmatic so I can’t do with a lot of dust. A part from that we had a lovely stay at the Belfry and we would definitely be back.

  • "We enjoyed the lodge and the hot tub."

However this holiday was sold as also having access and use of the golf course. This was not correct. Not only is the gate to the golf course completely locked , you have to drive around to it. The golf course also informed us that complimentary use of the golf course has not existed for a while. One of the reasons for booking this lodge on this site was because of the golfers in the family. The information about this site needs updating as this was misleading and possibly mis selling. The mattress in the main bedroom also needs to be changed. However, this said, the lodge was just what we needed for our relaxation purposes with the added bonus of being able to take our dog.

I have stayed in many lodges and this was by far the most disappointing. There was a building site next to us which was less than relaxing throughout the stay. The hot tub had no privacy whatsoever and the beds were far from comfortable. Overall a very disappointing overpriced stay and I will not be returning.

All the beds also sagged. We were disappointed that the single beds could not be pushed together given that our party was 2 couples.. The flooring in the double bedroom is badly worn with the laminate lifting at the seams making walking around barefoot uncomfortable. The site itself was very clean even though there was building work going on near the pond (2 new lodges in the process of being built). The information in the welcome pack was out of date 2011! There was also extremely confidential information left in the bottom drawer in the kitchen. Would have preferred a dishwasher rather than a washer machine.

It really would be hand to have a coffee/occasional table , nowhere to put a coffee/glass is watching the TV . There is a lack of storage . No wardrobe in the twin room . No problem for us as only two of us but if four of you it would be a problem . Finally the heating was a problem . Ambient temp is subjective but we found it all rather hot and the system was very difficult to control/regulate . Having said all that the lodge itself was fine and the staff on site were pleasant and helpful .

we were expecting 2 parking slots for the lodge as per the advert because my mother-in-law has trouble walking this was crucial in our choice of venue. on arrival the parking lay-by opposite the lodge was taken and remained so for the duration of our stay so we had to double park (blocking the drive )each time we returned from outings then park in the main car park not a massive problem but we were lucky the weather stayed fine so no brollie needed. The lack of information regarding the fishing meant I took completely the wrong tackle ( a copy of the rules would have saved a lot of frustration) . the lodge was adequate, clean, but looking a bit tired.

  • "The Lodge is one of several on one sight, therefore it is very impersonal."

You need to take your own books, games and DVD's, there is nothing of that nature there. The hot tub is great and if you have a fishing licence, this is the place for you. There is a picnic table on the veranda but no patio chairs or barbecue, which we missed as the weather was great and we would have enjoyed that. The local nature reserve is lovely and you could easily stay all day. It is walking distance from the sight and free to go in. The advertised visitors centre on the sight is no such thing. It is where the handyman keeps the clean linen and cleaning things. Not manned and no information! Dogs are welcome but have to be on a lead and not left in the lodge on their own. You can walk on the golf course but no dogs allowed. You can walk your dog off the lead at the nature reserve on the yellow walk where there is also a place they can swim. Talking of linen, the towels provided left a lot to be desired. I was glad I had taken my own. Sadly not a place we will be returning to as we like a cottage with a more individual personal touch. But Lincolnshire itself is well worth a visit.

The lodge was very clean and tidy when we arrived with pretty much everything you would need to cook any meal, plenty of towels and really comfy beds. It is also dog friendly which is a huge bonus. • "This lodge has been incorrectly advertised; therefore we have been mis-sold and would like to make a complaint."

The second picture on your listing doesn't look like the same place and on the other images the furniture is different. I understand that owners can refurbish and perhaps not update the images but therefore it should be to a similar standard, especially when the lodge is advertised as "stylish", with "hi-spec and smartly-furnished interiors". The black leather-look couches had been replaced by something that looked like nana’s old sofa! It was faded and obviously second-hand. The towels were all mismatched and small - there was no way they could be classed as bath towels. They were also threadbare and several of them had multiple pulled strings hanging off, they were really not fit for purpose! There were also no extras, which should be a given when there is a hot tub, especially when no robes were provided either. Luckily we brought our own robes, however there was nowhere to hang them to dry except over the bedroom/bathroom doors. There was only hand soap in one bathroom and no spare toilet roll in either bathroom. There was no bath mat in the en-suite bathroom. One of the bedside table drawer fronts in the double room was hanging off and the quilt cover looked faded. The lodge sleeps four, and is advertised as having a "well-equipped kitchen", yet the equipment consisted of mismatched plates and old cooking ware - again obviously second hand from somewhere - only 2 flute glasses, 1 decent wine glass (and 2 very small ones), as well as a stained old tea towel. There were tea, coffee containers etc, yet not even a starter pack of a couple of tea bags was provided. Luckily one friend hadn't set off yet so we asked her to bring half a dozen of her own bath towels, champagne flutes, wine glasses and tea bags (as we understood the lodges to be individually owned so felt guest information may well be unable to fulfill our requests), which is ridiculous for a supposedly self contained lodge! As we don't often get quality time together (hence booking 2-nights away every year), we didn't want to spend our limited break complaining at the time, so we decided to make the best of it and get on with enjoying each others company. With Wilco, Ikea etc - and how Belfry Lodge is advertised - there really is no excuse for using *obviously* second hand equipment and furniture. It was frankly substandard for paying guests and nowhere near the 'stylish' break we were looking for. I would appreciate someone looking into this and contacting me to follow up on offering a refund for being seriously mis-led over the quality of the accommodation.
