  • "This is a delightfully small but cosy and appropriately equipped cottage suitable for a few days away."

    In addition to the central heating, there is a log burner, for which logs are supplied, which all makes for a comfy night in on a chilly evening. If you're a walker, there are plenty of suitable footpaths and lanes to wander and explore. The generally flat terrain makes the going easy. All in all a very pleasant and delightful few days away.

  • "Quaint cottage, got warm and cosy when the fire lit."

    Compact but it had everything we needed - even managed to cook a Sunday roast! A lot of traffic noise as busy main road the other side of hedge at front of property. It would have been good to know about parking further away from property before we booked, but agree it would be dangerous to try and pull out on the corner behind the hedge. Nice place for a short stay, lovely welcome pack and hosts very friendly. Nice independent shops locally.

  • "The Old Blacksmiths cottage was a delightful and well equipped retreat for us and our dog."

    Extremely clean on arrival and despite being a small space, it was very well designed and equipped. We even managed to make a full roast dinner! Annette and Steve were very welcoming hosts, providing us with a lovely food hamper including delicious Lincolnshire plum loaf. Unfortunately, the weather on our trip meant that we couldn't spend time in the beautiful garden specifically for the cottage. But we were very cosy, inside. Highly recommended!

  • "Wonderfully cosy."

    Annette and Steve have thought of everything you might need for the stay, and provided it. Particularly nice for me to stay in, as my Grandad was a blacksmith. Lovely to be able to take the dog for a walk without having to get into the car first. Highly recommended.

  • "The cottage was perfect - compact, yes, but very cosy and equipped with everything that was necessary."

    The owner provided a delicious loaf of Lincolnshire Plum bread and some Lincolnshire cheese - a lovely touch (and some doggy treats too!). The woodburning stove took a while to get going - probably first use of the season - but made the cottage very warm. Absolutely no complaints!

  • "Despite being quite small, the property was thoughtfully designed and had everything we needed for a short break."

    It was very clean and we found the bed very comfortable. The welcome hamper of essential groceries and local treats was very generous, and much appreciated, and the walk leaflets and maps were very helpful. Only downside, was the proximity to the main road, but we only found it noisy at rush hour and not at all during the night.

  • "This is a lovely cottage, perfect for 2 and a dog, romantic, well-equipped, thoughtfully laid out, with everything you need for a short stay."

    The hosts very generously laid out teas, coffee and a hamper with local goodies. The house was very clean, the towels gorgeously fluffy, the heating up or down at the touch of a button. Annette and Steve had also thought of little details such as a vase of wildflowers. The wifi was good - we held two video calls at the same time. The surroundings were breathtaking. Our walk up the hill behind the cottage was amazing every morning. All in all, an excellent holiday. And to add to all of that, the hosts posted our (unneeded!) woolly hats which we'd left behind! Just brilliant!

  • "My husband and I loved our stay at this charming cottage, as did our dog!"

    We spent some nights at home with the wood burner and a home cooked dinner and some nights out trying one of the many local restaurants. The cottage has everything we needed and to owners were very welcoming and attentive. It was amazingly clean and well kept. Our dog enjoyed walks at the local woods and we all enjoyed visiting Lincoln and the local towns. We most definitely will stay again! Thank you so much for having us!

The property

This pretty, detached cottage rests in an idyllic setting within the little village of North Willingham, in the Lincolnshire Wolds, just a few miles from Market Rasen.

Old Blacksmiths Cottage has been tastefully decorated with some lovely character features including exposed beams, to offer a romantic base for couples, ideal for exploring this beautiful region of Lincolnshire.

Enter the property into the open-plan living space, presented in a country-style farmhouse with basic amenities, including an oven, 2-ring hob, microwave, fridge and slow cooker.

Relax upon the armchair as you ponder on the day’s adventures, switching off as the warmth of the woodburning stove aids relaxation.

As your eyes begin to close, move upstairs to the bedroom, boasting a character feel with sloped ceilings and a double bed, here you can lay to rest after a long day, or rejuvenate yourself with a quick shower in the en-suite.

Balmy evenings can be enjoyed in the pretty garden, a lovely space with a table and chairs and plenty of room for your four-legged friend to explore.

Get to know your surroundings as you embark on a countryside footpath, and you may even stumble across the scenic Willingham Woods, home to numerous trails and paths for all ages and abilities.

The village is also home to Wrights of Willingham Ice Cream Parlour which is within walking distance of the property and the ice cream is made on the farm using the milk.

The nearby market town of Market Rasen is home to an array of shops, pubs, restaurants and cafés, alongside a rich heritage with many stories waiting to be discovered; some of which can be found in town’s virtual tour.

Nearby the villages of Tealby, described as a most charming village, has the Kings Head pub, the oldest thatched pub in Lincolnshire; and Walesby, home of All Saints 'Ramblers' Church.

For walkers in the party you can join the long distance Viking Way trail at any point in nearby Tealby, Walesby or Ludford.

For a change of scenery, the city of Lincoln is 20 miles away, offering a great range of history including the famous 11th century gothic cathedral, Lincoln Castle, and the renowned Steep Hill boasting charming 12th century homes, as well as a beautiful art gallery, shopping centres for getting your fix of retail therapy and the Marina to enjoy.

If a day on the coast is on your to-do list, the miles of sandy beaches of the Lincolnshire coastline are just a scenic drive away, making Old Blacksmiths Cottage is a superb getaway, whatever time of year.
