A lovely property, very spacious and it held a lovley ambience,a nice peaceful stay, very comfortable and access to alot of extras,we managed very well because my husband is disabled and the space is plentiful,a good holiday all round we had and we are going to book again,i have one qualm i would easily play for early check in ,we had to arrive next day but that was our decision but we would pay for earlier check in thanks to the owners thankyou
"We love Driftwood and have been loads of times, clean, well equipped, nice encloed garden for dogs and kids and plenty of toys."
Really close to the beach but there are a lot of steps so we walk along to the lifeboat slipway, walk along the dog friendly beach to the Castle Cafe for some excellent food. If you do have a problem like when the switch fell off the kettle Rob the handymans phone number is there and he sorts it out. We wiil be back
"We thorough enjoyed our stay as did our dogs!"
The property was clean and comfortable and in an ideal location close to the beach.
"We spent a pleasant few days in Withernsea staying at Driftwood…."
.a very comfortable and well equipped cottage, five minutes walk from the beach and promenade. There was everything we could have wanted.I can recommend Driftwood and would certainly visit again.
"Firstly we had no problems gaining access to the property as mentioned in previous reviews and no issues with any of the locks in the property."
The garden was so pretty lovely seating area and very secure for the dogs. The sun is on the garden from 12. The property was spotless, comfy beds and pillows. The kitchen was so well equipped and the welcome tray was very well stocked. Beach was 2 minutes walk away and a tesco superstore at the end of the street. This was our first stay but won't be my last Gail
"I am sorry to say we were very disappointed with the property and decided to leave before the end of the week."
We have stayed at many Sykes properties and have always been impressed with the quality unfortunately this was not the case with Driftwood. On arrival it took over 15 minutes to gain entry to the property. There were 3 keys with no labels that would fit the lock to the entrance porch but none of them would turn in the lock. After much jiggling around we eventually gained entry to be greeted with a very strong smell of mould. The whole place seemed to be uncared for. We took some photos as examples but there is nowhere to upload them. Some examples would be: Shelf over radiator in downstairs bedroom missing but brackets still sticking out of wall. One bedside lamp not working in upstairs double bedroom, it would occasionally flash so we unplugged it. Hole in vanity unit in upstairs toilet where presumable a sink used to be? Bedroom light switch not in bedroom. Lights on stairs not working Laundry basket cracked with hole in it. Button lying on chair. Mould in the shower. Wire sticking out of wall in twin bed bedroom.
"Wasn't going to say anything but read other reviews and have to agree."
It's not all bad, the cottage was a good size and it's ideally located. However, this cottage needs a bit of TLC. It had lots of quirky faults that we were quite surprised by. We got a message before we left that the porch was leaking ( fair enough) we arrived to a really strong smell of bleach ( better than mould I guess) and the outside door lock was a pain as the other review noted. Also we found That the kitchen stove extractor vented into the kitchen above it & the back garden was really overgrown and patio was uneven and loose. It didn't ruin our break by any means but it could do with a bit of maintenance.
"This is about our 5th visit to Driftwood, what more can I say?"
"Just back from a 4 nite stay at Driftwood ."
The place its self is clean and has everything you would need , home from home the garden is secure so a safe place if you have dogs . Just down the road is the sea and the beech is dog friendly so we walked on the beech everyday with the dogs. We visited Bridlington and of course Mr Moos for an amazing ice cream. Great base to visit lots of great places would definitely recommend
"Just spent a great week at Driftwood & had good weather too."
Very dog friendly with bowls, treats & even a dog first aid kit for them! We have chihuahuas & always concerned about how secure the enclosed gardens are in properties, however this property is completely secure. The property is spacious with a very large comfy sofa & also comfy beds. All in all a very well equipped place to stay. The proximity to the beach is fab being a 3 minute walk. Our chihuahuas can be very wary of other dogs but the quietness of Withernsea beach was perfect for them. We would recommend this dog friendly property & will definitely return again in the future.
"I found the house was perfect for my family (2 adults and 3 children ages 6,12,15) and of course Teddy the 2 year old cockapoo on his first holiday."
The back garden was completely enclosed and dog friendly. The kitchen was well equipped the beds were comfortable and the wifi, TV, etc. was all good. The beach was literally at the end of the road (3 minutes walk) and a large Tesco was just around the corner (5 minutes walk). I would definitely recommend the house and I hope to stay here again soon.
"Brilliant well equipped bungalow with safe enclosed back garden and gated at the front."
The only thing that we found was it was a bit dusty in the lounge on arrival but other than that it was great. It has everything you need and the shower seat was great for my disabled husband
"A lovely property-comfortable- 5 minute walk to the sea front and 2 minute walk to Tesco’s."
"Great house been before only note shower needs looking at"
"Amazing ,and great owners who were very understanding about changing a booking."
"Not impressed with Property Management Service severely letting the owners down on what was otherwise a really nice property."
Kitchen floor was not properly swept upon arrival. Food remnants against base of kitchen units. Matted accumulation of dog hairs on lounge carpet which bunched up when sitting down at settee corner unit. The odd Cobwebs and dead spiders hanging in lounge, kitchen and master bedroom. Shower was extremely poor flow and Black mould evidence along bottom of shower unit. Services and equipment left by the owners were satisfactory and of a high standard. When issues arose the owners were quick to respond and help unlike the Property Manager who couldn’t be bothered.
"We have just returned from our stay at Driftwood."
We love Withernsea and have been many times but this is the first renting a property... it won't be the last. Driftwood was spacious, clean and the perfect distance to the beach. Everything that we needed was supplied (other than personal effects obviously) and it was comfy and homely. We will definitely return.
"Better furniture outside to allow taking of meals, and a dish washer to sterilise crockery and cutlery"
"Property was clean and equiped well enough for our needs."
Living room had good sized seating and dining area, tv had netflix which was a bonus. Kitchen was a good size. Downstairs bathroom was also a good size, bonus of an upsatirs toilet and small sink. Great storage areas and extra towels were great. Decent sized bedrooms, beds all made up, 2 doubles and one with twin beds, only down point was my husband and i chose to sleep in the single beds to let the children take opportunity for double beds and the matresses for these two beds were very firm so neither of us had a decent sleep all week. Property was, as mentioned a stone throw from the beach which being the bottom end would explain its quietness. The town centre itself (a 10-15min walk) was only small but had shops you would usually look for...takeaways, supermarkets (Tesco being round the corner), bit of everything shop but not much else. Amuzement was dog friendly and had a bit of everything but not very big. If you want to take a drive there are other places to visit Beverley deffo worth a visit! All in had a nice dog friendly break.
"We had a fantastic week at Driftwood, comfortable cottage with everything a family of 5 with two dogs could need!"
Beautiful, quiet dog friendly beach at the end of the street. Perfect. None of us wanted to leave! Thank you.
"We enjoyed staying at driftwood, very handy for Tesco’s ,the beach and bus stops."
"A lovely house in a great location - close to the beach, shops and pubs, some great walks."
Beach is very pet friendly. House very comfortable, thank you.
"Although the cottage was well equipped some updating is required especially in the bathroom."
The water from the shower was just a trickle and took to log to heat. The mat in front of shower should be exchanged for a proper shower mat which could easily be dried for the next day. Giving credit the bedding was spotless and beds very comfortable.
"We very much enjoyed our short break in this property."
The house was as described and the location was fantastic. We loved that the beach was a few minutes' walk away - and what a beach!! Our puppy was safe in the enclosed garden at the back of the house and both gardens caught the sun at different times of the day. The house is well equipped and we had plenty of space as a family of four. There are plenty of cafes and takeaways if you choose not to cook and there's a big Tesco within easy walking distance too. This was our first time in Withernsea and I feel sure we'll be back.
"We are regular visitors to Driftwood, once you get up the 2 steps to the front ..."
We are regular visitors to Driftwood, once you get up the 2 steps to the front door everything you need is on one level with bedrooms and toilet upstairs as well 5mins one way to beach and 5mins other way to Tesco
"The house was amazing the best we have stayed in"
"It was like home from home."
Everything had been thought of and everything was perfect. This is our second visit and we will certainly be coming again. Many thanks
"Our second stay at Driftwood, once again a excellent stay Comfortable and homily, dog friendly, beach five walk away supermarket five minutes walk, town with cafes, chippys and another supermarket about 8 minutes walk."
Off street parking, and the bench in the front garden is a right sun trap. Would I book Driftwood again....? Most definitely.....
"The house was lovely the only thing that let it down was the standard of cleaning."
The kitchen floor still had dog hairs all over it, there were bags of old potatoes in the cupboard but most worrying of all was used soap and shower gel left in the shower cubicle. Having said that the beds and everything else was spotless. It was a real home from home with everything you needed to have a wonderful holiday. Would recommend it.
"Another visit to Driftwood so nice to get away and everything was as good as ..."
Another visit to Driftwood so nice to get away and everything was as good as last time ,nice secure garden for the woof great location for everything in Withernsea and not far from family who live there, weather was good nice and sunny already booked for November could not fault the place so needed the break from retail work so to just chill was heaven
"Nice to get away after the lockdown."
The house was fully equipped with everything we needed. Nice garden to sit out in but unfortunately the weather didn't allow that whilst we were there. There was a information file which was helpful if you didn't know there area. Overall a pleasant stay in ideal location - sea at the end of the road and the centre about a 10 minute walk.
"All was good in the property & all facilities were accurately described ."
The location is lovely & it was like a home from home even down to the dog friendly feel to it . P.S.The only thing that could have impacted our comfort if it had been much colder was the ‘cold’ radiator in the shower room - if it had been a problem we’d have contacted the owner . It needs sorting for the winter , the radiator thermostat can’t work as the bleed valve is stuck solid ! We did try to fix it but couldn't. There was plenty of everything we may have needed . Lovely place to stay .
"Absolutely gem of a property,in a quiet area, everything you need for a great holiday."
Supermarket five minutes walk away, beach five minutes walk away, town, cafes, take aways eight to ten minutes walk away. Secure garden for the four footed friends with a couple of sun traps to sit in for the alfresco dining. Would we stay again...? Yes please......in fact we've booked again for next year.....
"I emailed my comments on the empty bottle found under one of the beds, the build up of dust in all bedrooms and the mold growth in the shower and washing machine."
I have yet to get a reply. Sykes claim to have an excellent cleaning team plainly not so.
"Perfect location for a beach holiday with the family."
"The property was delightful- clean, comfortable and well furnished with a lovely enclosed garden."
The beach was really only a 5 minute walk away and the promenade walk into town was an easy daily walk. We found two children’s playgrounds both within walking distance which the boys loved. A great property in an ideal location.
"Absolutely loved our stay here."
Garden secure for dogs and they loved the closeness to the beach. Like a home from home- very well equipped. Still missing the recliner settee!
"Felt like being at home, and it was convenient to visit relations, we will be back."
"We were really happy with Driftwood it was ideal for my husband who is 83 and needs to be on the ground floor and it had facilities for the disabled."
"Fourth stay at Driftwood, Tesco 2 mins one way and dog friendly beach 2 mins the other way, what more can I say?"
Iwant to move in and live there!
"Very relaxing setting with very nice friendly neighbours"
"Absolutely brilliant holiday."
Accomodation was way above what we expected.Clean and everything you need.lovely garden to relax in too.all amenities within walking distance. Thank you from 3 pensioners a 40's something couple and a 12yr old girl.
"A very clean, spacious and well equipped bungalow."
Lots of handy extras like condiments, loo roll, kitchen and kitchen roll, even things for our four legged friend! Very comfortable settee and beds, good quality wi-fi. In a nice, quiet area with Tesco and beach within a few mins walk. Can definitely recommend.
"Excellent accommadation perfecty clean, everything accessable, didn't want for anything, very comfortable."
"Every aspect of the accommodation can't be faulted, gives us a comfortable and ..."
Every aspect of the accommodation can't be faulted, gives us a comfortable and relaxing experience a feeling of being in our own home
"A comfortable, clean, well equipped cottage with the advantage of a safe enclosed garden for our two Lurchers."
Just minutes from a dog friendly beach which is excellent when the tide is out with masses of soft sand, but not so accessible at other times. The accommodation met our expectations. We had a lovely relaxing week. Shops close by and a pleasant small town. Would definitely recommend.
"A really clean well equipped cottage close to a pebble beach and not far to walk to centre."
"'Driftwood is a beautiful home from home place."
Very clean spacious house to the beach and a good position for walking dogs. Everything us there for you even the dogs are catered for. We have even booked a return journey
"My dogs and I love this cottage, nice little enclosed garden to sit with a cuppa ..."
My dogs and I love this cottage, nice little enclosed garden to sit with a cuppa while they play, 2mis from dog friendly beach, reasonable distance to coffee and food place to refuell for walk back, Tesco round corner, everything we need
"This house was like a home from home."
Good location. We have booked the same one again in November. Highly recommend.
"A beautiful house in a very good location (major supermarket within 100 yards or so of the entrance to the street) will be fantastic if anyone wants a beach location for the summer (its at the other end of the street!"
!) 3 very good sized bedrooms on 2 floors (1 downstairs makes it ideal if anyone is slightly less mobile), a wonderfully equipped kitchen and a good sized lounge/dining room complete with super sized sofa (even had electric recliner section) and the most amazing log burner!! (a most welcome addition for chilly winters nights). The tv in the lounge even had Netflix so it really was home from home :-) We truly had a wonderful stay and would highly recommend Driftwood, they even go the extra mile by providing little extras for your 4 legged friends like dishes, towels, poo bags, treats and so on. The games room is a small porch area with a cabinet containing board games, beach games equipment etc and extra equipment for the beach is provided in the shed outside if you need it. I genuinely have nothing negative to say we had a wonderful time. Thankyou for a lovely break, we will definitely return again in the future.
"Holiday bungalow was extremely clean , easy access to beach and amenities."
Very comfortable and practical. Would highly recommend.
"Lots of little extras in the kitchen which was very welcomed."
Loads of space pity there wasn't a dishwasher or dryer ( we had good weather so no problem) Very close to seafront so lovely for dog walking, the town itself was not what we expected loads of takeaways & cheap rooms to rent over pubs! There is a small micro pub which was ok & a marston pub 'The Spread Eagle' which was a bit drab but food was good.
"I want to live in this cottage!"
It is like walking into a home with everything needed for a comfortable stay, Tesco is just around the corner and a short walk the other way is the dog friendly beach. Tea. coffee and biscuits available while you wait for grocery delivery plus salt pepper and oil handy to have. I really felt my dogs were welcome rather than being tolerated, there were bowls, biscuits and poo bags We will definitely be returning
