“Great place to stay, very quiet and relaxing place to stay, for convenience you really need a car to visit local areas and shopping, but fantastic location and owner is superb, greeted us on our arrival then left us to get on with relaxing and enjoying break,,, but there straight away if needed very very good.”

The property

This cosy conversion of a former granary, situated in the village of Wroot, is just the ticket for exploring North Lincolnshire, South Yorkshire and beyond.

Attached to the owners’ home and accessed via twelve external steps, this property is an ideal base for fishermen, historians, walkers and cyclists.

The Granary boasts many original features, including a large door that was designed to accommodate sacks of grain, and incredibly high beamed ceilings can be found here.

The mezzanine floor above the open plan living area provides a small sleeping space designed for one person, whilst the double bedroom on the floor below has a sumptuous super king-size bed which can be made up as two singles.

The open plan living area with sofa bed is a perfect sociable space for relaxing.

A wet room is also available.

Outside is the convenience of off road parking, along with a shared garden, and Wroot, with its pub and shop/Post Office is an excellent base for visiting a number of places.

The traditional event of Haxey Hood, which is believed to date back to the 14th century takes place close by, and to the south, the Roman road of Ermine Street takes you to the ancient city of Lincoln with its splendid cathedral.

Also Doncaster and Robin Hood Airport are nearby, plus to the north, the magnificent city of York can be easily reached, and within driving distance is the Lincolnshire coast.

A lovely cottage for your Lincolnshire getaway.

About the location

Epworth 5 miles; Bawtry 8 miles; Doncaster 10 miles; Gainsborough 16 miles; Sheffield 31 miles; York 42 miles.

The North Lincolnshire village of Wroot sits serenely within the Broad Valley of the River Trent. The name Wroot is very likely to have derived from the Old English word of wrot, meaning snout in relation to a spur of land. The River Trent passes over 200,000 acres of rich fenland, and when drained in the 17th century, the area became known as the Isle Of Axholme. Before the land was drained, Wroot was indeed an island. Today, the village is home to a pub, a shop/Post Office, a school and two churches. Close by are the small market towns of Epworth and Bawtry, and within reach, the larger towns of Doncaster and Gainsborough. Whilst staying in Wroot, why not explore the Lincolnshire coast or the Lincolnshire Wolds, an Area of Outstanding Beauty? Also within driving distance is the large town of Doncaster, which is famous for its St Leger race each September, and further afield are the cities of Sheffield and York. Wroot is a convenient base for exploring both Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire and Yorkshire.
