  • "A beautiful, spacious farmhouse in a very peaceful setting."

We were a party of six, and there were enough rooms for the children to have their own space if needed. Penny and Stefan the owners were extremely welcoming. Penny took the time to teach the children how to halter train some of the sheep, which they thoroughly enjoyed. Fresh eggs from their chickens were also available and they were absolutely delicious! Whilst some of the kitchen equipment had been removed due to COVID restrictions, if we needed anything all we had to do was ask, and Penny and Stefan provided it. Anyone wanting a quiet break cannot go wrong with Penlon.

  • "Lovely house, the pictures on Sykes didn’t do it justice."

We were extremely happy with the accommodation, the surroundings, the friendly sheep & happy chickens, but most importantly Penny & Stefan who made us feel extremely welcome.

  • "Unfortunately the cottage was not as clean as previous experiences of Syles cottages which was especially diappointing in light of the continuing Covid situation."

It was not easy to be confident on arrival that it was the correct place as there was no name plate to reassure visitors. The shower upstairs didn't work and the "wetroom" downstairs provided a trickle of water. The kitchen was not particularly well kitted out and we had to buy a casserole dish in order to have something to cook with. Only one of the three bedrooms had adequate drawer space. Overall very disappointed.

Thank you for your feedback. Property Owner

The owners live on site but purposely gave us space, which was also very nice. Kitchen is amazing and we had some fabulous family meals. Plenty of parking, we took 2 cars but you could have taken more. Beautiful art work around the property, Penny (owner) is a very talented artist. Thank you we had a great stay

  • "Penlon was very clean and comfortable and the surroundings were lovely."

We thoroughly enjoyed watching the lambs running around in the fields outside. The only criticism I have is that there was no secure garden that the dogs could be off lead in outside. Not really dog friendly.

Close to aberaeron where we love, and just as close to newquay where we viewed the dolphins. Would highly recommend and hope to visit again in the future.

  • "We had a lovely stay at Penny and Stefan's farmhouse."

It was clear that great efforts had been made to make the farmhouse 'COVID-safe', which made us feel immediately relaxed. The farmhouse is set slightly apart from the other buildings, and although Penny and Stefan were around and on hand, if we needed them, we felt our privacy was totally respected. It was a delight to be surrounded by picturesque countryside and 'big skies', and on the whole, the weather was great. Curious brown hens came by the kitchen window each day and we watched swallows impressively building their nest in the back porch-way throughout the week. Penny and Stefan patiently chatted to us about running a small holding, showed us their pigs and introduced us to their VERY friendly Shetland sheep, some of which LOVE to be petted! New Quay is a short drive away and parking is easy (and currently free!) at the top of the little harbour town. Ceredigion was not at all over-crowded during our stay (the last week of July), and by timing our visits to the beach until later in the day, we found we had lots of space on the beaches we visited. The coastal path was also quieter than expected and did not disappoint, with stunning views akin to Cornwall! We sighted dolphins EVERY DAY, whenever we were close to the sea and saw some curious Atlantic grey seals a couple of times, too. We would highly recommend this accommodation and location for a guaranteed relaxing break!
