  • "Maxwell House was as good as expected."

The layout & bedrooms were perfect for our mix of guests and location very convenient. My only criticism would be the lack of dishwasher and only 6 seats at the dining table (we were at maximum capacity of 7). Having said that we did thoroughly enjoy our stay & wouldn’t hesitate to recommend.

  • "Our group was made of 4 adults and 1 dog and the Barmouth property suited us ."

Easy access to the beach, town and hilly walks further afield. The house was equipped with everything you need , but for us a dishwasher would have been more useful than the washer machine.

  • "The house is in a great location, we did not need to use the car at all."

parking on the road was no problem. We had beach days everyday as the beach is just a minutes walk. We also had marvellous walks over the bridge along the estuary along the Mawddach Trail and to Fairbourne for fish and chips. The walk up to Gellfechan and the Frenchmans grave was also really fun and interesting. Great choice of food nearby and the Co-op is close by for essentials.

  • "We had a brilliant weekend at Maxwell’s House."

It was a very last minute booking and hosts were brilliant at communicating with us. The location is so amazing we have booked to return next year but this time for a full week! Cannot wait!

  • "We had a lovely stay in Maxwell's House - really nice house, clean, nicely furnished, 3 separate loos which was very useful!"

Lovely views of the hills and only a couple of minutes' walk from the beach and shops. Owner very responsive and helpful. Very minor downsides were the lack of a dishwasher and the second-floor double room had a slightly hard mattress (would maybe benefit from a thicker mattress cover). All in all a lovely stay.

  • "Horrible smell in kitchen."

Holes in dining room chairs.some of the pots and pans were dirty. Parasol in yard area didn’t work. Living room sofa and chair old dirty and incredibly uncomfortable. We had bad backs with it. Top floor bedroom vertical blind coming away from ceiling. Bed lumpy and springy. Pillows were so old and thin and duvet.we had to go out and buy some .. water was left in the kettle on arrival . We would request Sykes call us as we are very unhappy about it. We have another cottage booked with you in May 2021 .

  • "The house is in a good location, but parking outside could be a problem."

Keys were held in a key safe box by the front door, so pick up was seamless. We thought the house was very spacious and well equipped, and the owner had supplied plenty of hand wash and sanitiser, as well as cleaning products. The carpets were clean and the decor was quite fresh. Unfortunately, we found that chair and sofas in the lounge offered no support, we developed backache, and we had to move hard backed chairs into the lounge if we wanted to watch tv. There were some very good aspects to the house, but we did find we couldn’t use the lounge as much as we would have liked to.

  • "We had a lovely stay at Maxwells house."

We had everything we needed apart from the weather lol. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The kitchen is well equipped and there’s a small outside space with a table and chairs which we did manage to make use of when the weather behaved. Towels are provided as are tea towels for the kitchen, many properties don’t include these. Hand gel and soap were provided along with cleaning products under the sink. We were even left a couple of bottles of wine by the owners to start the holiday off, lovely touch and most appreciated. It’s a few minutes walk to the beach, kids amusements and there are some good places to eat, although we booked before we went because we knew it would be busy with eat out to help out. We all loved the food in The Last Inn, lovely pub and the staff were great. My only negative would be an odd smell that comes from both the vacuums when you use them. It left the house smelling a bit funky. Probably just needs new filters or a vac freshener popping in. All in all a lovely place to stay.

No dishwasher(has a washing machine for owners convenience). Kiitchen utensils cheap and flimsy. Cooking pots not big enough for seven people. No salad or mixing bowls. No locks on toilet or bathroom doors. Towel rail in bathroom falling off. Shower head rail in bedroom falling off. Otherwise very clean and presentable.

  • "We had a really great holiday at Maxwells and was lucky enough to have really good weather, it would have been nice to have the windows open but we found it very noisy with people going past late at night."

It would have helped a lot if we could have had some fans available in the bedrooms to make sleeping more comfortable.

.!!) could I make a couple of suggestions 1 For safety in that wonderful shower.. maybe a safety rail on the back wall to assist turning round if the tray is soapy 2 at some time in the future maybe a flat screen tv on the dining room wall, we would have liked to watch the early morning news whilst having breakfast 3 similarly in the 2 double bedrooms... maybe a small tv a one of our couples always waked very early and would have loved to make a cup of tea, take it back to bed (as they do at home and watch the news Its just a thought...not a criticism

  • "The location of this property was perfect for our little family, having a infant and two younger children it made our holiday so much easier knowing we were right in the heart of the town."

Shops, beach, fair, and nature routes were all a stones throw away from the front door. Although close to all these attractions noise wasn't an issue at all. The bus stops were a 3 minute walk away and allowed us to travel to Fairbourne, Dolgellau, Harlech and Talybont. The house had every thing you needed really felt like a home away from home. Everything was clean and tidy and neat especially with little wandering hands it was great for little ones with plenty of space for a large family. Would highly recommend to anyone that wants to stop somewhere close in Barmouth.
