"We had a fantastic stay at Pengarreg and hope to return next year."
The views are out of this world, and the sunset is just spectacular. The property is comfy, cosy and a home from home. The bed was incredibly comfy and all towels clean and fluffy, with the interior done to a high standard.
The history is fascinating with the original key, lock and all the photos.
We know Barmouth well so already knew where the property was and that we had a good walk from the carpark to contend with. We paid a few pounds and parked up in the Black Patch carpark (visible on google maps) that is for the property, made our way to the cottage with a few light items, collected the car pass and pottered back down. Gave us all a leg stretch after a long journey with no rushing about.
It is a shame there isn't a small welcome pack (little milk, tea, coffee) so take some with you if want a cuppa and a break.
The instructions in the property were not completely accurate or the things provided to do what asked and could do with a good wipe down as were all stuck together.
The black bins at the back of property were always full, so just took to the big bins in town (take your own/buy bin bags, washing tablets and dish wash tablets if want to use these facilities) it also says check out is 1500, which it obviously isn't. The utility was covered in sand with wet towels in the washing machine, so we just washed them, swept and my husband fixed the taps in the shower as they fell off. I text the property manager a few days before we left as the blind in kitchen broke and I didn't want it to be an issue for the next guests, but got no reply.
The things mentioned are so minor and by no means did any of the above detract from our stay. We were sad to leave and we absolutely will return, ASAP.

"Whilst the view, interior design and the beautiful historic cottage are five star, unfortunately our stay wasn’t."
A plumbing issue that had occurred prior to our stay, made the bath and shower unusable, unless we spent time filling the bath with jugs of cold water. To add to this, the plumbing in the kitchen gave up two days before the end of our trip, which left us unable to use the sink or dishwasher. The trip was for my husband’s birthday, the day didn’t go to plan due to giving access to the property for the plumber, who didn’t fix the issue during our stay. We did speak with the owner regarding the plumbing emergency and to be fair, she was very apologetic.
The general maintenance of the cottage needs looking at, like loose roof tiles and the leak on the ceiling, weeds in front of the door and seating area outside, which we cleared ourselves, taps that come off when you turn them. The information on appliances etc. and directions to the cottage itself need updating, there was no welcome book/pack that is usually present in similar properties. We washed the bathroom towels ourselves as they smelt musty, as if they’d been folded whilst damp. The utility area needed a clean itself and the washing machine smelt as though it needed a clean too.
It’s such a shame we had these issues, as the night we arrived, I had checked availability for next year, as the view and location are stunning. If we could guarantee all these issues had been addressed, we would definitely return. I feel sad leaving negative comments, as issues aside, we did have a lovely holiday.
Thank you for your feedback and we are so very sorry about any inconvenience. The towels are usually of very high standard as they are laundered by a dry cleaning company. The utility area and washing machine will also be checked and thoroughly cleaned. We will be looking at the other concerns you have raised to resolve any issues and Sykes will reach out to you to discuss this further.

Its location is fabulous . A few access issues but so worth it . It’s actually just off the main high st and plenty of parking available there . Just a steep walk up to it so travel light .Would highly recommend

"Beautiful property with stunning views, but please be aware it is a very hard walk up to especially on arrival with all luggage etc."
If you have a small dog you may have to carry it some of the way and if you use the route with steps then definitely nearly the whole climb.
Remember to take milk etc with you as you will need them in the morning.

"Beautiful cottage in amazing position overlooking the beach."
Facilities were good inside, very characterful.
Surprised that there was no guest info book which is usually provided re appliance instructions/top local tips etc.
The steep walk up to the cottage with luggage was not for the fainthearted! However we were with the fabulous scenic benefits of a high up position when we made it up.

"Fantastic property in an incredible location."
Instructions to find the property aren’t the best but there are a couple of routes that are fine once you’ve gathered your bearings. Definitely burn off some calories on either route!
Views are outstanding and the property is well set up.
Really cosy feel. Would 100 percent go back

The walk up is totally worth the effort. The bed is desperately comfy and all the kitchen appliances are brand new. We were lucky with dry weather however I would have loved to watch a storm come in from on high

"We had a nice weekend here, the place is very cosy with good views, the cottage is well kept and it was in a good clean condition for us when we arrived,
it was very windy the weekend we stayed, and as the place is high up in the rocks and pretty open it was loud through the night, which wasn’t a problem for us, it added to the adventure as my three year old son thought it was fun, also the walk to the property is a good bit of exercise if your able, again it made it a lot of fun for my son."
i’ll have to stay with better weather next time as i’m sure it would be a lot more cosy, we did pick a weekend with a storm after all.
Thank you for letting us stay, we had a very good weekend.
