  • "An amazing cottage, very cosy and warm."

most wonderful views in all directions from the kitchen and bedroom. The cottage felt large for us as a family of 4. We had everything we needed and communication with the owner was easy. The private garden was pretty with vast views. There are so many interesting places to explore within 45 minutes. The level of comfort was great - beds/sofas/showers baths and etc. A very lovely experience we would love to come back.

  • "Perfect setting, the surroundings and noises of suburbia replaced with the tranquillity of the countryside."

The accommodation spacious and facilities excellent, the information pack was detailed and the map for dog walks excellent, and to top it of a pint of milk on arrival for that first cup of tea.

  • "This was a lovely weekend stay."

Delightful cottage in a beautiful location. Jo was welcoming and helpful. The 2nd bedroom door needed to have some wood shaved off as the door sticks and makes rather a noise if anyone went to the loo in the night. Also the water temperature wasn't as hot as we like it but that's just a personal taste and not a problem. I'm sure Jo would have upped it if we'd asked but we were only there for 3 nights. It was a well equipped kitchen too. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend this cottage for a very pleasant stay. Thanks Jo.

  • "The owner was welcoming and friendly without being obtrusive and the location provided outstanding views of the Shropshire hills."

Close to the Welsh border, we explored both Wales and the area around Shrewsbury. Shrewsbury itself was a delight. We had a first class holiday.

  • "Great cottage - very comfortable, well equipped, and in a great location for walking."

Great view over the valley from the cottage itself. Very friendly owner (Jo) We booked via the "Dog Friendly Cottages" site which we've used before. I think the dog rules (not allowed on sofas/beds) should probably be specified on the listing as I can see that this may cause some surprise on arrival depending on your dog and approach to dog ownership. No issue with such rules but they should be available in advance of arrival

Thank you so much for your feedback which we value very much. We believe our 'doggy house rules' are fairly standard for self catering accommodation. They are in place for the comfort and safety of all guests, including those that do not own a pet and are consistent with Sykes Terms & Conditions which state that 'You must not allow pets on beds or on furniture within the Property and pets must not be left alone in the Property at any time'. We are so sorry that you were not aware of the rules but all prospective guests are asked to confirm that they have read the T&C's before they commit to their booking. Property Owner

  • "What a lovely cottage, alot bigger than expected, had everything we needed."

Beds were lovely and comfortable, area so peaceful with amazing views. Everything we needed to know was in the information left in the cottage, we had a warm welcome and felt comfortable knowing we could contact the owners if we needed anything at all. Little pub down the road (Stables Inn) amazing staff so friendly. We had two dogs with us and never felt they were not welcome anywhere we went. When leaving my daughter asked when we could come back, think that speaks for itself. X

  • "Heron Cottage is one of the best cottages we have ever stayed in."

The accommodation was very well furnished and extremely spacious with a lovely private garden and excellent views of the surrounding countryside. The host greeted us on arrival and made sure we settled in OK. There is a very friendly traditional pub just down the road, the Stables Inn, where we had a very enjoyable Sunday lunch in the sunny garden. We were within easy reach of local visitor attractions though, due to the Covid-19 pandemic we did have to prebook some places. This was not a problem. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here the first week of September 2020 and would recommend Heron Cottage to anybody.

  • "It is unfortunate that because of the pandemic the niceties had to be removed from the cottage."

The cottage well situated to visit sites of interest. The directions to the cottage if coming from the Shrewsbury direction could be better descibed. The owners were very friendly and helpful as were their dogs. All in all good accomodation with great views.

  • "The cottage was in a beautiful location with glorious views all around."

Well appointed accommodation, extremely clean and comfortable with a nice private garden. Lots to do in the immediate area and local pubs nearby. Close enough to explore Wales too. Our only disappointment was the WiFi not working for most of the time during our stay. Having chosen this cottage because it listed WiFi we were frustrated at not getting anything like a consistent connection to enable us to research and pre book activities particularly during this current Covid pandemic when everything is online! If it really is that poor because of being rural WiFi then don't promote it.

  • "The Cottage was set among the Shropshire Hills an idyllic retreat for those wishing to get away from it all ."

Spectacular views as far as the eye could see yet snuggling below the hilltop this was a wonderful relaxing home for the week. Morning alarm was a trio of bird song, pheasants in the nearby fields and lambs calling for their mums as they race down the grassy slopes. The surrounding countryside offered a wealth of options to explore from bustling towns, Historic houses and castles. It was just as easy though to walk out the front door and be absorbed in the beauty of the local area. The cottage was very well equipped and very comfortable it was very easy just to have spent the whole week sat in the garden with a good book listening to the sounds of nature all around. Totally recharged after my stay and with my hosts very agreeable home made cake devoured I reluctantly came back to reality, but as they saying goes " I will be back"

  • "A perfect setting!"

Heron cottage is wonderfully equipped and will be improved greatly when the new en suite with loo is fitted soon. We loved our stay, but did wonder if cattle grids could be installed instead of the two gates that have to be opened and shut every time you leave the property! Thank you Jo and Steve for our time with you.
