  • "Booking through Sykes cottages was simple and we got a good deal."

We had an absolutely amazing few days away with the kids. The private hot tub is the icing on the cake and when not out we were in there several times in the day. If you're looking for a peaceful break with stunning views and lovely walks out, would highly recommend this. Elan Valley is about 15min drive from the lodge with the most stunning views and lovely park in the middle of it for the kids to enjoy. The owner and staff are amazing and the lodges are so clean. In our kids words "this is the best holiday and holiday home EVER" lol. Will definitely be back here. Thank you Carl, his lovely Mum Molly and the rest of the amazing team for everything. We are missing the place already.x

  • "First night we arrived the keys left out were for the wrong lodge which was very frustrating and wasted the next morning when we inquired and were told it was an error."

It was fixed and we moved but no compensation for the time lost.

  • "We had a fantastic stay thank you."

The lodge was spotless and it's easy to see why the grounds are so immaculate because we saw them being maintained by the manager. The location is stunning and we felt immediately relaxed, especially once we'd taken advantage of the hot tub! We would highly recommend a stay here and hope to return later in the year. Well done to all the staff who work so hard to make the guests comfortable

  • "Lodge itself was nice but the amount of flies in the place was unbelievable."

When we arrived there must of been 60 to 80 flies in the place.I killed around 20 in my bedroom. To be honest we was going to complain as this is not what you want when you arrive.Obviously this is an on going problem as there was 2 tins of fly spray and a load of sticky fly traps under the sink.Dissapointed to be honest

  • "Hot tub would not fit 6 only 3 seater but a step could be used for a seat to make it 4 but no more than this, which is strange for a lodge that can accommodate 6 people easily."

Not enough crockery for 6 people Rubbish area - not clear where to put general waste Would be useful if in the information pack they had a taxi number

  • "The property was in a immaculate condition inside and outside, everything was very clean and tidy, the lodge was kept nice and warm prior to our arrival."

Hot tub was very warm and clean. We had a fantastic time and created memories for us to remember. Only downside were the bed mattress which were too soft and the beds were very low, apart for that everything was spot on! We will definitely come back.

The book stated it would be cleaned every day and due to covid, I would have thought the cleanliness would have been their priority

Hot tub was fantastic and used every day of our stay. Kitchen and utensils provided were well stocked and clean. Living room/dining area comfortable and roomy. Bedrooms were comfortable and beds provided a good nights sleep for all of us. Walked the hill to the picnic bench to take in the fantastic views. Also walked some of the woodland. Only active and working about 5% of the time there. After a long great day in the outdoors exploring, the family would have loved to have sat in the cozy lodge watching a movie together on Netflix together. Proved impossible every one of the 5 days we were there. Now to the important and the good... - the lodge was amazing! So spacious, so modern, so clean. An incredible structure. - the furnishings and facilities were great; and the beds were soooo comfortable! - the hot-tub on the balcony was fantastic; kids in it almost every day at some point - the park is in the most amazing scenery. Great little walks around, up the hills, down to the rope swing, etc. - the nearby town of Rhayader was lovely - you have GOT to travel the 15mins down to the Elan Valley. The sight of the gigantic waterfall at the reservoir is something to behold! - lots of little tiny villages, churches, Abbey ruins, beautiful valleys and hlls to explore what a place!

Cabin was very cosy and clean. Felt very safe during the COVID 19 regulations. We took our dog and he had an amazing time too, big field behind the cabins to run around. Lots of places to visit not far from the location eg crib coch dam is beautiful! Only downside was the WiFi, states free on listing yet only 250mb free and tv only worked on a few channels but we weren’t bothered about this as it was a nice break full of beautiful scenery and walks.

    - Lodge high spec luxurious. - Gas central heating kept the lodge warm when needed. - Hot tub great feature of lodge. - Television good size. Bad points - Loads of flies in the lodge from beginning. - 'Broadband/Wifi' not great signal always disconnecting, was listed in the lodge features so expected it to work, two access points shared between all the lodges, had to use my phone and share my Internet to family. - Television satellite guide was confusing channels weren't in order, hard to find channels. - Small TV in bedroom had a white line always displayed on screen when switched on. - Slow running drain in one of the showers, main bathroom.
