  • "A beautiful location and lovely cottage."

We stayed for 12 out of 14 days due to the wet weather! The scenery around mid Wales is stunning and we thoroughly enjoyed seeing it. We couldn’t get Wi-Fi at all and think this should be highlighted for those for whom it is important! As other reviewers have said, a washing machine would be a welcome addition . Karen and Roger were extremely helpful and friendly. The cottage was immaculate and comfortable. We needed heat and the heaters worked well in all rooms. Both bathrooms were easy to use with good showers. With places like Builth Wells and the Elan valley, Brecon, Powis Castle and Welshpool where we went on the Welshpool and Llanfair railway, mid Wales has a lot to offer. A lovely break even though we could have wished for better weather!

  • "Really spacious cottage throughout."

Everything indoors that we required was available. We have stayed in numerous cottages, but we reckon this one is right up there at the top of our list. (Especially cleanliness and comfort.) Only did three nights but thanks for a great stay.

  • "We jointly felt, I think due to the open plan style, that the barn conversion cottage did not have a cosy feel about it."

In my personal view, it would have been a great enhancement to have had some sort of curtain - voile or other type - or an attractive blind or even "drapes" at the patio door which certainly would have given a warmer and more attractive overall appearance. Unfortunately, only one patio door opened and a window in the lounge did not open. OK, we could have reported these issues but as the weather was not kind to us all week, we did not bother. It was decidedly "chilly" overall even though the owners had kindly put the electric radiators on in the kitchen/dining area - it wasn't at all effective. None of the other radiators throughout the barn, although switched on at the wall, did not throw out any heat. However, having said all of that, there were several nice things about the property which we did appreciate very much.......

  • "Tawelfan is a really beautiful property inside and out, and exceeded our expectations as soon as we reached the spacious parking area and saw the view."

The rooms have been created with real style and feel light, airy, very comfortable, and the view from the kitchen/dining space is so good it really has to be seen to be believed. Its location is very central for visiting places of interest and for a huge range of walks; we visited the reservoir area at Elan Valley, plus Hay-on-Wye and Powis Castle (Welshpool) when the weather wasn't good enough to hit the hills/mountains, and each was well worth a day out.

  • "We have just returned from the most wonderful place."

Our week’s stay was definitely not long enough. Tawelfan was everything we hoped for in comfort and peacefulness. On our arrival we were greeted by one of our hosts, Karen who is very pleasant and could not have been more helpful. After a short tour we were left to start our holiday. It was very reassuring to know Karen and Roger were around if we needed any help. The barn was spotlessly clean and tidy and very well equipped. Beds were very comfortable and shower’s very good. Outside lovely view’s and plenty of wildlife to watch. Would definitely love to return for another restful break. And will be recommending to friends and family. Thankyou Karen and Roger hope to see you again.

  • "Very picky points, but would have like other bowls as soup bowls are too shallow for eating cereal."

We should have raised these points, but it would have been embarrassing. I don't think the floor had been swept downstairs and here was a mouldy ice tray in the freezer. Again, very minor and did not effect our enjoyment. We think they were just an oversight as otherwise the property was immaculate in a wonderful location.
