  • "The cottage is pristine, roomy and comfortable, and lacks for nothing equipment wise."

It has been thoughtfully renovated with original beams throughout. The courtyard garden is small but private. The cottage is very well placed in the village centre with a Co-op, nice pubs (particularly the Three Tuns) and a small park within easy walking distance. Also well situated for walks, with Stiperstones and the Long Mynd a short drive away. If you have a dog, it's a generally dog friendly area.

  • "Lovely cottage, in a prime place in the town, yet still felt quiet and relaxing."

Only two of us plus our old dog so tons of room for us all. When we walked in it was all clean and fresh and smelled lovely, we immediately felt at home. All the things that we might need were close by, hotels and pubs and cafes, all dog friendly, serving great food, and a local coop just down the road with lots of choice if you’d rather stay in or had forgotten something. One previous review mentions that they left after one night because they couldn’t sleep for the noise of the church clock chiming every half hour. We did hear it, but only when outside on the street, never noticed in the house so don’t know what they were listening to! Weather was kind to us whilst there with not much rain, so all in all a good holiday. I would definitely recommend to our friends.

A few improvements needed in the kitchen, like a new kettle. The existing one was very manky and needed a thorough clean inside, but everything was functional and nothing missing. Ideally situated in the centre of a small town with good pubs and restaurants. Shops and petrol close by. Beautiful walking country.

Thank you for pointing out the issue with the kettle. Unfortunately we have hard water in the area so we do get limescale in the kettle. This is descaled each changeover. It is a relatively new kettle but we shall take onboard your comment. Theresa Property Owner

  • "A lovely, clean and cosy cottage in a fantastic location."

Wonderful walks and visits in all directions and, most of the time, we were the only car on the road - it was like going back in time. We (and our dog) felt welcomed by the local community and part of them. The pubs were excellent, particularly the Three Tuns. Although the bedrooms were all spacious (the back double was so lovely and cosy) we think it would be tight downstairs and in the bathroom if six adults stayed. Thank you for a great break - we shall certainly return.

Sadly our stay was significantly marred by a plumbing problem. The hosts responded promptly and did their best to fix it, but the only bathroom was unusable for half our stay. We were surprised that the hosts did not contact us afterwards to offer compensation and did not, in our view, offer compensation appropriate to the level of disruption to our visit.

It was clean as a whistle and the little courtyard was lovely to sit in to read or eat lunch. It was easy walking to several eating places and pubs although for us it usually involved walking up the hill which is quite steep. Bishops Castle itself is a really nice town, a mixture of old fashioned farming people and very slightly hippyish folk.

Very clean and with everything you could need. Thank you for wine and sweets. Bishops Castle smaller and quieter than we thought but lovely for a chilled holiday and nice not to worry about parking. We drove to lots of nice places to walk the dog - Ynyslas beach, Ellesmere, Shrewsbury and some hills. Tiny Luna managed to escape from the garden within half an hour of arriving so beware if you have a smaller dog. Would definitely recommend this cottage.

Kitchen was well equipped and grateful for the downstairs toilet. The bedrooms were clean but beds were not comfortable especially the front bedroom. The living room furniture was not easy as the one sofa was too far from the other furniture and the television was far too high up on the wall. Would be OK for 2 people but not for 2 couples.
