  • “We enjoyed the stay in the cottage.”
We enjoyed the stay in the cottage. Every thing was there that we required. It was great to have an enclosed private garden as a lot of properties do not meet this requirement.

Abergwynant Farm Cottages

Some of a selection of six former estate properties offering cosy and comfortable accommodation, set on the owners’ mixed working farm, alongside their seasonal caravan park, on the delightful Mawddach Estuary and just 5 minutes’ walk from the popular Mawddach Trail. These quaint traditional cottages are nestled down a private drive in the heart of the Snowdonia National Park, only 4 miles from Dolgellau. These traditional cottages are scattered across the farm, but are mostly clustered around the stream that tumbles down towards the river. They have been furnished with comfort in mind, with well-equipped kitchens, electric ovens, dining areas, and comfy seating, as well as modern TVs and DVDs with WiFi available in the farmhouse annexe. Three of the four cottages have private enclosed gardens with seating, with many being close to the melodic sound of the babbling brook, while Riverside Cottage has a seating area and uninterrupted views over the pretty stream. Each cottage also has use of communal areas and the opportunity to sit and watch the owners’ beautiful horses, or meander across the owners’ land that is criss-crossed with a myriad of footpaths. These cottages benefit from direct access to the Mawddach Trail, situated in the valley with fabulous walks leading to the fabulous seaside resort of Fairbourne or the majestic mountain peaks of Cader Idris. Remember to bring your bikes to discover the fabulous cycling paths and the renowned Coed-y-Brenin cycle trail. Dolgellau is 4 miles away, which offers everyday shopping and local producers. A short drive and you will be at the beautiful coastline of Cardigan Bay, with the sandy beaches at Fairbourne less than 6 miles away, and popular Wales Coast Path stretching in both directions. The area offers numerous outdoor activities such as a trip on the Tal-y-Llyn narrow gauge railway. The area is peppered with lakes offering fishing, water sports and sailing or perhaps try some white-water rafting. Across the beautiful Mawddach Estuary is the imposing Victorian seaside town of Barmouth, accessible by the pretty bridge that spans the estuary mouth.
