Everything there to make us feel welcome, even a dog bed! Will certainly recommend to others and hope to stay there again ourselves.

Thank you so much for your feedback. We are happy that you enjoyed your stay at our cottage and enjoyed the countryside around the area. It would be lovely if you came back again another time. Thanks again. Jane Ridyard Property Owner

  • "A lovely cottage with everything you need to be comfortable."

We had a very relaxing stay and so did the dogs with lots of great walking and cycling. The road out side the cottage is busy but it did not affect us as the cottage has direct access to the fields and foot path’s from the back.

Thank you for your comments. I am really glad you had a relaxing stay and your dogs were happy. The field behind the house is certainly perfect to give the dogs some exercise. Thank you again. Property Owner

  • "Lovely cottage, had everything you could need and more, including the best shower I've ever seen in a holiday cottage!"

It is ideal for dog owners, the enclosed courtyard garden has a gate leading straight into a field and there are good walks around. Talgarth is a thriving little town and everyone is very friendly...I'd recommend this cottage to anyone.

Thank you so much for your feedback. I am glad you enjoyed your stay and the cottage gave you everything you needed. I also hope your dog enjoyed the access to the field, I know our dog loves it and loves meeting all the other dog walkers who use the footpath. Jane Ridyard Property Owner

  • "We would like to say this cottage is brilliant, and as for the stair gate, this was a first for a cottage and should , in our opinion, be a necessity in all cottages when they ask for dogs to be kept downstairs, dogs do get worried and follow owners about when first on holiday so this was brilliant edition."

  • "Overall, this was a good cottage with everything that we needed."

It should be noted on the sales details however that this is on a very busy road (thundering, fast lorries!). Also that the parking is not outside the property and across the road and down a little way (not a problem but with children it may be). A couple of things for the owners to note; blackout blinds/curtains in the back bedrooms as this is such a bright room (lovely in day time of course), garden chairs of some sort to relax properly in for the garden (not just a bench and slatted chairs) would have been so nice in the good weather, the brown hanging vine thing above the fireplace is rather creepy, the bedding in the back bedroom could do with being updated (in line with the front bedroom). Lovely wood burner though and some really nice homely touches along with a great view of the field behind. comfortable beds (very soft) and everything you could need in the kitchen.

  • "We very much enjoyed our holiday in Castle Green cottage."

The cottage is a very well appointed house, beautifully furnished and with everything we could have possibly needed. The lounge has 2 comfortable sofas, a fireplace with wood burning stove (which we used), TV and DVD player, with plenty of DVDs to choose from. The TV has netflix (which we signed on to) but, as far as we could tell, it does not get the usual live channels and freeview (but that could have been our lack of technical abilities!). The kitchen is very well equipped too. We slept in the main bedroom, which faces the road. Although it is a main road, the window is double-gazed, and the road is not too busy, so it wasn't noisy. The bed is very comfortable and there are plenty of pillows. The bathroom is of a good size, with a powerful shower and a heated rail for towels. The cottage was superbly clean. On arrival, the cottage had some welsh cakes, milk and wine - thank you! The only aspect that could be improved would be to add on (or replace the current curtains with) black-out blinds or curtains. Eye masks were helpfully provided but we would have preferred to be able to get the room darker. Also worth noting for those with children is that the cottage faces the road, with no pavement to separate the front yard from the road. Although there is no garden, the cottage backs a large field with sheep that has a public path.

  • "General the best thing I can say is that the property felt like a home and not a holiday home."

It feels very comfortable to be in the property with a nice garden to sit outside in the dry or rain. Facilities are good, I was the first tenant, so not a surprise.

About the location

Builth Wells 15 miles; Llandrindod Wells 22 miles

A pleasant town just outside of the Brecon Beacons in South Wales. Talgarth is a historical town baring many old and beautiful buildings such as a 13th century peel tower, now the Information Centre, and a 14th century church, it was also once inhabited by Romans once upon a time. The town has plenty to do in the way of gliding, pony trekking and plenty of walking opportunities through the well-known Black Mountains. The rivers Ennig and Ellywe run through the town, it is also home to the Pwllwrach Wood, said to bare a lake where witches were drowned many years ago. Talgarth has two gastro-pubs, a cafe and shops to enjoy at your lesure. The Tabernacle venue hosts many events such as musicals, plays, talks and book launches, the town really does cater for everybody. The popular town of Builth Wells is within easy access and is certainly worth a visit, as is Llandrindod Wells slightly further north.
