  • "We had a lovely week at Idris view great location and views from the back garden."

Hot tub was spotlessly clean. Kitchen was well equipped and beds were really comfortable. The shower was great but the bathroom is a little dated and sparse in home comforts. The cottage itself we felt could have been cleaner. When we arrived the porch was quite dirty (windowsills) and the kitchen felt grimy (cupboard doors sticky and cobwebs on the bottom of some of the doors, also a mouldy loaf of bread in the cupboard above the sink). The floors in the living room and conservatory were also not very clean (we moved the sofa and there was a lot of dirt under them including a used tissue). In the conservatory there were dead wood lice in the corners of the room. The dining table and place mats also needed a good clean down before we used them which is a bit disappointing considering we weren’t allowed to check in until 5pm due to extra cleaning. All of the above however did not spoil our stay and we would return to the cottage I have only mentioned this so the owners can address it with their cleaner as the cottage is great. Thank you for having us.

Thank you for your feedback about your stay at Idris View. We will look into some of these points to see if improvements need to be made. We take cleaning seriously here and once surfaces have been cleaned, an antibacterial mist is then used which cannot be wiped down. On shiny vertical surfaces such as kitchen cupboards it can result in appearing streaky and can also be felt on other surfaces such as placemats and floors which might explain some of your comments. We are glad you had a good holiday and hope to welcome you back in the future. Many thanks Property Owner

The front garden was secure so perfect for dogs to run and play with a lovely, sheltered paved area to eat out. A super conservatory looking out over fields at the rear was perfect for showery weather. The sitting room was very cosy but we did not really use as weather was so good. Kitchen was a good size complete with everything you could possibly want. We had a fantastic stay and I would highly recommend this cottage for a beach holiday.

  • "This excellent bungalow was the same as previous visits including the fact the grass hadn't been cut."

the week before our visit the weather was mostly dry enough to cut grass which we know as we live in gwynedd.the weather was mixed for our holiday and being elderly with two elderly toy poodles found it difficult to pick up in the foot high grass especially in the dark in the wind and rain, such a shame as everything else was near perfect.

Thank you for your feedback, our gardeners work part time and it can be difficult to time mowing the lawn when it is dry enough. We are looking at a different option so that it is done at least once a week. We look forward to welcoming you again. Property Owner

When we arrived the cottage was warm and welcoming and we settled in quickly. Sadly, the weather was rather cold and wet whilst we were in Wales (it is December after all) - luckily the combination of under floor heating and radiators meant that the cottage was lovely and warm (my parents really feel the cold these days). The town is lovely and all of the amenities you need are very close by; a supermarket, good pubs and restaurants and of course, Idris View is very close to the seafront - allowing me to take my morning walk along the stunning coastline. Hopefully we will be able to return to this lovely cottage and location in the near future.

Thank you for your comments about our cottage. It is described as family friendly and we do welcome families with children. There are games and DVDs that are family friendly. If you are referring to the supply of a high chair or cot then currently we do not supply those but this is clear from our listing. The cottage was built in 1850 and has thick stone walls - we have installed additional vents to help ventilation and this has not been an issue for other guests. Property Owner

  • "This is not a nasty complaint, just a constructive criticism."

The cottage is lovely and the owner has put in good quality items with extras like dog wash outside, garden seating etc. Everything is of a good standard but not kept up to scratch. The hot tub man told us that they have changed their cleaner so may be things will eventually improve but it is sad to see such a lovely property just under par. Does anyone read the visitors book? 4 or 5 times since January people have commented on cleanliness. Someone commented that the kitchen table had fallen on a dog, could have been a child, but it was still there. We needed to clean a cupboard to put our food in it. Freezer was jam packed with bags of ice every drawer! Kitchen and bathroom floors had not been washed. The place wasn`t filthy, just not quite clean enough. As for Sykes, you state the gardens are enclosed but the owners leave information in their book that they are not dog safe. I think thar distinction needs making. We had no problems but other visitors have commented on this. I would rather owners were told than publication, but I always read reviews and note that I had only read glowing reports so perhaps this needs to be balanced .

Thank you for taking the time to share your views about your stay. Customer satisfaction is very important to us both and we always try to respond to feedback shared. We do have a new cleaner in place and recent feedback has been favourable. We will raise your concern about the floors and ask them to take a bit more time on those. Guests often leave bags of ice in the freezer for others to use, apologies if you felt inconvenienced by this, or the condiments and seasonings we provide for guests use. Guests do sometimes leave the odd food item such as unopened tins, gravy granules etc. As there is plenty of cupboard space and we are against food waste we do ask the cleaner to leave those items in the cupboard. We have had a comment that a dog had managed to escape the gardens through a small gap in the hedge and Sykes removed the word 'enclosed' and replaced with private some time ago. When the hedges die down we intend to make as secure as we can. We were informed that a dog ran into the table and knocked it over, it was removed for a time until we could check it over and having done so we put this back in the kitchen as we were comfortable that it did not present a hazard. We will check all furniture again on our next maintenance visit in a few weeks. Property Owner

  • "Lovely cottage in wonderful surroundings."

Loved the peace and tranquilty but you are just a short walk away from the village if you fancy a few drinks or something to eat. Everything you might need is literally on your doorstep. No major supermarkets but that isn't a negative. It was nice to shop locally and a welcome change. Everything you might need is within walking distance. Lovely local beach within walking distance too, our dog loved it! A great base from which you can travel to different towns to sightsee but to be honest we found it was so lovely to enjoy the cottage and the comforts it had to offer. The conservatory was so nice to sit in and the hot tub was fantastic. When we arrived the gardens were overgrown which was a bit disappointing but in the middle of the week the gardeners came to do the lawn and did apologise that they were overdue. We were lucky and enjoyed some good weather but had we stayed indoors, the cottage was wonderfully comfortable and relaxing. We enjoyed it that much that we have booked for next year. It was warm so didn't experience the wood burner but maybe we will next time. Overall, a wonderful gem of a cottage and looking forward to re-visiting.
