  • "We really enjoyed our stay at Dolau."

On arrival there was cakes and dog treats left for us. The cottage was lovely and big, Everywhere was spotless and very tidy. We made 2 new friends in the field behind (geese). Beaches are easily accessable. We went to Tywyn, Fairbourne, Barmouth and Aberystwyth. The dogs really enjoyed the spacious garden. The double beds were really comfortable and your head sank into the pillows. Best nights sleep we have had. We hope to come back again.

  • "Not recommended for disabled persons as furniture much too low needs legs to higher, even the dining room chairs are low down and difficult to get up from for anybody disabled."

Finding the bungalow could be much clearer by stating that it is up a narrow path just wide enough for a small car (if the tall bushes could be cut back it would stop the car from getting scratch by branches) but all in all a good holiday.

  • "Our week stay was nice the bungalow is lovely and has everything you need but I would say it could be cleaner as in the floor and level of dust."

I have a toddler so had to clean the floor because our socks were dirty from only an hour in the property also I don't think under the sofas have been cleaned in a while as it's thick with dust. The rug by the fire smelt like wet dog so I folded it up and but it by the sofa. I'd get rid of it if I was you. The garden is lovely and a nice size. I did have to clean up 2 lots of dog poo unfortunately so maybe that should be checked before new tenants come in. Apart from that it was very homely and had everything we needed. Thank you

  • "The bungalow was quite dark inside, and not as clean as the property I stayed in the previous week ( Morannedd, ) the bath was dirty - it hadn’t been cleaned."

It rained a lot , so a decent clothes drier/rack would have been good. The one provided was small and inadequate. There were only 4 chairs in living room around table, yet bungalow slept 6. I did not enjoy being in the bungalow at all and we left early.

The accommodation had everything we could have wanted. There were some lovely walks from the accommodation and easy driving to the nearest village, so it was very secluded. It was amazing to see the weather change across the hills. Bear in mind that the phone signal is very intermittent in the accommodation, but that can be a plus!! We would definitely recommend it to others.

Excellent kitchen. Only problem was with the washing machine but we figured out that if you pressed hard against the door it would begin the cycle. The location was fantastic. Beautiful views from the garden. Would definately recommend.

. gardens are beautiful.. we were very lucky to have the hydrangeas in full bloom! We were very impressed with the cleanliness and preparation for Covid which made the stay easy and worry free. The cherry on the cake was the welcome gifts which were ideal for settling in after a long drive

  • "Bungalow was clean, spacious and well laid out."

Beds were very comfortable as were sofas in lounge. Lovely secluded spot with far reaching views of countryside. Both Tywyn and Aberdovey beaches are relatively close by (about 5 miles) and are sandy and clean. Lovely walks from doorstep, amongst others I particularly liked early morning walk down towards Tonfanau. I would recommend Dolau to anyone wanting to escape the fast pace of modern life in a beautiful part of the country.

  • "Overall we enjoyed our stay here at Dolau."

The bungalow was clean, comfortable and had all the mod cons necessary to make life easier. It was very quiet and easy to find and reading previous comments it seems like the owners have made big improvements as we did not have many of the problems raised. When we arrived there was no logs for the wood burner but after speaking to the owners this was promptly sorted out and they were very helpful so no complaints there. Only other negatives were the bath was very uncomfortable and the shower a bit 'weasy'. The parking area could do with more hardstanding as you got muddy feet walking to the car. It could do with some outside PIR lighting too as at night being away from any streetlights it was pitch black around the bungalow. And lastly, the electric towel rail in the bathroom could do with being taller and higher up. But we would recommend this place without a doubt and it was perfectly adequate for a 3 star rated let.

A simple paragraph in the welcome pack would have been helpful. The welcome pack was falling apart. The washing line was hanging in and needed repairing along with furniture and soft furnishings. We had a pleasant week as the bungalow was a base and the price was reasonable . But overall the place needs updating and a good clean I have never seen so many cobwebs inside a home that had just supposed to be cleaned.

The cottage is quiet and has a private garden, which we liked. The kitchen was well equipped and the rooms were nicely decorated and beds very comfortable. Some of our towels had a doggy smell, (even after we washed them!) which was a bit off-putting, and the dishwasher wasn't working but all in all, we had a great time. There were lots of sights to see and nice beaches and walks in the area. I enjoyed the Leather Workshop which was just down the lane round the corner from the cottage.

  • "Overall the bungalow (not a cottage) was fine, the rooms were a good size and the kitchen was well equipped."

It was detached, so this suited us very well, in a quiet location, great little garden overlooking the countryside. It is in a nice location with easy access to the attractions. It was great sitting outside to eat and to relax. The little sign on the grass verge was too small and not noticeable enough. The parking for 2 cars was a bit tight, as the lane was quite narrow. The hedges may need to be cut back a bit. There were a few issues; -There were no bin bags so this was highly inconvenient and we had to then try and purchase some. It was very inconvenient having to dispose of our rubbish and recycling ourselves, it would have been better if this could have been done by the cleaner after we had checked out. It was quite difficult to find the facilities to dispose of the rubbish and recycling, as we were not locals and did not really know where to go. - There were no tea towels, so it was difficult to dry the crockery and cutlery, had we known, we would have brought some. In addition to this, there was no draining rack, which meant when we washed up we had to dry plates etc as there was no where to stack them. -The bathroom door did not have a lock, which wasn't a great problem but the spring in the door handle had gone, so the door wouldn't close at all, so kept opening, which was annoying when we were using the bathroom, as we were not with family but with another couple (friends) -The water pressure in the shower was very low, so showering was not great. -We were not told until after we booked that the dogs could not be left in the bungalow un-supervised, this would have been helpful to have known before booking, so we could have made an informed decision. -The bungalow was quite dusty as well. -The lighting in the kitchen was too dark, the spot lights need to be brighter, as it was difficult in the evening when preparing food. -The mattress in the double room was too soft for me, but my husband liked it, -The iron leaked even when it wasn't on, the ironing board needs to have a new cover.

Ash was all over the hearth and fireplace not been cleaned, the glass top on the table not cleaned finger marks above and below the glass, shower screen not cleaned, the glass on the cooker hood the same, the filter of the cooker hood not been cleaned in ages. Dust on ornaments and television stand and various other surfaces, I don’t expect to walk into a place and have to start cleaning. Note in kitchen if you have a problem contact the cleaners they will respond within an hour phone number obliterated. Attention to detail by the cleaners is lacking. I have never been to any cottage before where there hasn’t been a pint of milk in the fridge or a spare toilet roll. In one bedroom no full length hanging space in the wardrobe all the space taken up by towels and bedlinen.

Kitchen good, beds comfortable. However, tye advertised cottage does not match reality, let me give some examples: 1. Its not a cottage, its a pre-fab bungalow. 2. Upon arrival the fence leading to the property was damaged, blocking the only access in and out. Therefore me and my wife had to conduct repairs in a torrential thunderstorm simply to get in. 3. No DVD player, although advertises that there is one. 4. No door into kitchen meaning that we heard dog snoring all night. 5. No lock onto toilet door. 6. Rear Garden needs grass cut and tidy up to prevent bees / wasps entering property.

Area was lovely if you want to be in the middle of nowhere. Easy to access nearest town and shops. Only thing I will say with the bungalow, is the plumbing needs looking at. The bath took nearly all day to drain away water from a morning shower and the toilet only flushed properly once and then would take ages to refill. Also some of the bedroom lamps didn’t have light bulbs in them.

This is the second time I have been to it roughly at the same time of year as well. This year it rained a lot which did not spoil the holiday but made it very difficult to get to the car and not get covered in mud or slip over on the very narrow slate path.the concrete area needs to be made much bigger to park your car on and walk to the gate. The property is good value for money basic and does the job but could do with a little tlc.
