  • "What a fabulous spot."

Totally tranquil. The owner has thought of everything. The photos don't do full justice to this property. It is cosy (but spacious) with comfy beds and lounge area, and tastefully decorated throughout. There are wonderful views from the gallery above the double height lounge, and ample dining space. We enjoyed a two night stay and will definitely return. Wonderful.

) , huge kitchen with a great stove according to my daughter’s chef boyfriend! Large dining / sitting room with wood burner and large tv and loads of cd’s . Everything that you need from a holiday cottage . Very clean , bed linen and towels provided. So peaceful, wonderful views, sat out listening to owls calling . Satnav got us there but we did miss the last turn but found it after a little work . The owner Digory was lovely, he checked everything was fine and if we needed any ideas of where to visit. Perfect. He let my 3 dogs use the garden freely but I did feel a bit awkward about it and would have felt more comfortable having our own area but that’s personal. Enjoyed the stay very much , thank you .

  • "What a wonderful place to stay!"

The view is as far as the eye can see (weather permitting) and is stunning. This place is so peaceful. All you hear is birdsong, owls screeching or farm animals. There are only a few properties nearby so traffic noise is negligible. Pure peace! The cottage is a great place to relax after a day out exploring. The rangemaster cooker was great fun to use! We slept well every night. The bed was really comfortable. The size/scale of the chimney breast is not captured fully in the pictures, the lounge height is massive. Our shihtzu kept ending up on the mezzanine looking down on us.....it took her a while to work out how to get back down! Talking of dogs there's plenty of places to walk where they're welcome. I'd suggest if your dog is shihtzu or similar size invest in a pet carrier backpack. Ours found footpath grasses too tall and coarse which limited how far we could walk. We only had one for two dogs so will definitely invest in a better one. We fully intend to return and further explore the beautiful waterfall that the property owner recommended in Wales, again absolutely stunning place to visit (make sure to take 50p for the loo though!). The property owner was lovely, really helpful but not intrusive. We really didn't want to leave.

No coral bowls. Very poor quality bedding. Miss match of decor. Size of kitchen warranted a table. Space under the stairs could be made in to cupboard to store mop, vacuum and highchair. Outside space a bit untidy. No clear instructions of rubbish disposal (ie recycling).

The double size mattress wasn’t as comfortable, two single beds would be better. Upstairs was lovely, living room was fine. The kitchen wasn’t very clean, the fridge and freezer were dirty and there was an odd smell. I moved the settee and there was a lot of dirt under there (someone’s nails too). The cottage welcomes dogs, however the surrounding area is not brilliant for dog walking as most of the public footpaths were through fields with lots of sheep and occasional cows. Well appointed. Nice outdoor area for seating up to 6 and a BBQ if required. Sat nav actually took us straight to the property but you do have to go up a narrow single track road for the last 500 metres so need to be prepared to pull into one of the overtaking areas. The property was exactly as listed and after so long in lockdown, was a pleasure to spend a week there. It’s a great point to drive to the sights around the area and an hours drive will get you to just about everything. Barmouth is about 1 hr 15 mins. Lake Vrynwy, lake Bala, Pistyll waterfalls, Barmouth, Horseshoe pass and the Steel works visitor centre at Oswestry are all well worth a visit. The steel works is free entrance and free to park too. The kids would love it. Diggery, our host, was very approachable and gave us a few ideas on where to go. The property is set on the edge of the Nantmawr quarry so there is loads of room to take dogs out first and last thing for their ablutions. The rooms are large and with a robust baby gate across the kitchen door, this gives an ideal location for them to sleep. We had our Great Dane and Chocolate Labrador with us and never felt like they were under our feet. We would not hesitate to book this again.
