! Thank you ever so much for a wonderful stay at Cefn Gwyn. It is so generous of you to share such a wonderful property in such an amazing location with others. I could move in tomorrow it is such an amazing place. The welcome hamper from Y Groser Harlech was an added bonus. We tried to rebook for next year but it was already let. I can see why people keep coming back. We will certainly keep an eye on future availibility. Diolch o galon.

  • "The family sat down on our last day and had a chat about the holiday we had just had and the house."

We came away with two words for the house "It's Perfect", the pictures do not do the property justice, its a beautiful, well maintained property and in a stunning location. Going later on in the year, it was amazingly equipped for everything thing we did - go for a muddy walk, don't worry you have a huge utility room that can handle clothes, boots and a dog with ease. Come home and want a nice fire on, don't worry you've got enough kindling and wood to keep you going for a month. Arrive late on the first day and need to get some essentials - don't worry a lovely welcome basket and milk in the fridge is waiting for you. It really is a wonderful holiday home and our family are so pleased that we spent a wonderful half term in it. The bedrooms have wonderful views as does the well thought out and protected from the elements garden seating area. Honestly, we were heart broken that its fully booked next year otherwise we would have booked it again. Its on our favourites list, and if your reading this - it should be on yours too!

Nice size. Found the property clean and tidy. Shame check-in has to be so late at 5pm, as we'd driven 6 hrs to get there, and 5pm is really late. Nice touch with the welcome basket. Negatives. Shame there are only 2 sofas in the sitting room, as if there were more than 4 of us, it would be a squash. The dining table in the kitchen isn't the most comfortable area to sit with metal chairs and bench seats. Even some cushions would make it more comfortable and put some pads on the chair feet to stop them screeching on the floor. The main bathroom really could do with redecorating, as it's a bit scruffy and overall, we found the bed linnen tired and in need of replacement, as the duvets fell out, and the pillow cases were falling off too. Hopefully we left the house as tidy as we found it.

! You nearly acquired a new dog - Daisy was so reluctant to leave! The views are stunning, with or without the spectacular sunsets......... the accommodation was great, and everyone was able to spread out..... Only two downsides - we couldn't book for the same week next year (someone beat us to it......), ...... and we would have liked to know a bit more about the property itself. It obviously has an interesting history - do you have a scrapbook of it's transformation or something you can leave for interested visitors??

The cottage had a modern feel with a lot of lovely original features. It was spotlessly clean on arrival and the welcome hamper was a lovely gesture…thank you. We had a fantastic stay as a family of five and our fur babies. There was plenty to keep everyone happy with walks through the gate for the dogs to playing on the beach for the four year old. We went crabbing at Porthmadog, picnicking down at the estuary and spent some time on Harlech beach.

Good Enclosed gardens front and rear for dogs or children to run around, a nice touch was a basket of welcoming goodies well appreciated, also a 2 pint of milk in fridge, surrounding area was full with sheep and cows which is lovely to see but had to drive some distance to let dogs off for runs, there is a nice long walk way that follows the estuary but dogs need to be on leads because of sheep, but it is a good long walk, a great get away and we'll out the way of traffic noise and people, we'll enjoy it.

Such a lovey property. Beautiful setting, surrounded by fields and sheep. Soo Peaceful, stayed for a week but wanted to stay forever. Highly recommend this property. From the garden you can see views of Portmeirion, the tip of snowdon and at night you can see Harlech Castle with it's lights. We even had the pleasure to meet some locals who were soo friendly and bent over backwards to help us . This is because we were unfortunate to breakdown just 200yards from the property itself. This was after a 4hour drive to get there. Breakdown service originally informed us we had a 5hr wait. So we decided to call a local taxi to pick us up to take us and the dog with shopping to the property. The gentleman was soo kind he even went back to fetch some jump leads to see if that helped. However car needed repairs. Not long after the local pick up/Garage came to collect car. Between them both they done all they could to make sure we were safe and happy where we were staying. A MASSIVE Thank You to all involved in making us feel welcome. If the owners read this and know who these lovely people are.... please pass on our gratitude as will always remember how they made our holiday that little bit extra special. We will definitely be coming back to stay here again , can't wait !

  • "We spent Christmas 2022 (23rd - 27th Dec) at the cottage and it was absolutely wonderful."

We didnt want to go home. There was plenty of room for the 7 of us (5adults & 2children). We had been a little worried about what to bring as the Sykes website was very general but we needn't have worried! Dishwashers tablets, soap, washing powder, handgel, washing up liquid, toilet rolls were all included as well as a lovely little welcome hamper. We literally brought a whole house with us (christmas tree included)!!! but the cottage had plenty of pots, pans and the normal things you might want to make Christmas Dinner with. We did bring an extra crockery set and cutlery which we found useful as it meant we didn't have to run the dishwasher half empty between meals to use again. The showers were lovely and warm with plenty of hot water and the cottage was toasty and was great having the fires. Everything in the cottage was wonderfully thought out, spacious bedrooms, gorgeous views and we would definitely stay again. For others staying, taking the following items was really helpful: *extra crockery (if travelling as a 7) *extra cutlery *a few extra loo rolls (6 were provided but we brought a couple extra) *cleaning spray *arm chair (this may seem excessive lol but we found an extra chair in the living room allowed us all to sit more comfortably as we had an 80yr old with us - we were lucky and had a van to transport Christmas to Wales!) Also beware! On the way up to the cottage, up the single track, on the left hand side after a tight corner there is a white rock that sticks out a little. We unfortunately burst a tyre on it and luckily managed to get someone out late on Christmas eve. They mentioned having been called out for that rock before! There were a couple of minor issues that the owners may want to repair: *the taps weren't working well on the bath which meant we had to fill with the shower head attached to the tap to bath the little ones. The temperatures fluctuated greatly on this and could have resulted in one of the little ones being scalded. *pop up plug in downstairs bathroom sink kept getting stuck *hoover didn't work too well, it didn't seem to be blocked. Overall, we had an absolutely wonderful stay and would definitely stay again and wish we had booked longer. Thank you so much for making our Christmas.

  • "Really enjoyed our week."

Lovely property and stunning location. Enclosed garden - great for small children, ample parking and unbeatable views including the sky at night. Clean throughout and modern appliances. Upstairs loo needs a little attention - flush has a tendency to keep running but plenty of hot water which isn't always the case in holiday properties. There were a few (minor) things that could be added to make it a 5 star experience (eg outdoor washing line, extra garden chair - there are only 6, a second key, more glasses/cutlery/large mugs, bin bags), also 5pm check-in is very late especially with children Overall the property was very comfortable, lounge rather cramped for 7 but we were lucky with the weather so we were outside as much as possible. Sykes were unhelpful when we had to make a change to the booking following a bereavement and this added to the distress at a particularly difficult time. Also, sending info via email during the holiday itself was unhelpful - this is a place to detox and turn off electronic communication, not to check emails. Overall, loved our week and would certainly consider a return.

This was our second visit the location and facilities at Cefn Gwyn are excellent. Our concern this time related to cleanliness of the property and the lack of attention to detail. Waste rubbish including food, bag adjacent to the door being torn apart by a pair of magpie leaving waste distributed over the entranceway was not the best start to a holiday. The bath mat was in a disgusting state and represented a potential health hazard - see pictures. Toilet cistern in upstairs toilet needs attention. No mattress protector on double bed in main bedroom - just a sheet is not good. General cleaning needs serious attention and distracts from an otherwise great property.

This exceeded our expectations. For this alone, we would definitely return. Unfortunately, it had only been cursorily cleaned on our arrival. The walls and ceilings were thick with cobwebs and we spent the first two hours on arrival - a beautiful sunny evening - hoovering. The cottage is reasonably equipped, but there were a few things missing. In particular, the oven only had one shelf - a real handicap if you want to cook for a family. The toilet seat in the ground floor is still ill-fitting, despite this being reported by another guest some months ago. The hot water was good and hot and plentiful, but unfortunately the cold water supply to the bath was not working. Although some general information about the area was provided, the cottage lacked some more specific information. For instance, information about rubbish collections etc. Annoying as these things were - particularly the dismal cleaning - nothing could detract from the absolutely stunning location and the wonderful sense of privacy and seclusion.

It is roomy & cosy at the same time - there are coat hooks in the utility which is a perfect drying room and just off the hall from the back door. The woodburners work well & the kitchen is big enough to cook, eat, plan trips and play cards while looking across at the mountains & appreciating the woodburner! Garden is enclosed & the two dogs enjoyed the space (front and back) while looking through the fence at the sheep. Outdoor BBQ works well & garden table & chairs v comfy & in the sun before midday.
