"Fantastic little cottage, clean and cosy - thorough instructions for the stay and wonderful base to explore beautiful Wales."
"Lovely comfortable cosy cottage."
Very clean and well equipped. Great location, for exploring midWales. Pub 150 METRES away serving good food and drink. Will definately be returning.
"Our stay was perfect!"
Great location for the Mach Loop. Discription is spot on. We stopped on the way to get supplies as the local shop/cafe is limited, but great for bits and bobs. l 100% encourage you to have a breakfast at the cafe....and buy a cake on the way out! The red velvet cupcakes were great. Parking discription is accurate, very limited, however we had no issues. We got parked outside the property or on the main road. If we had to we could have used the pub as we went for a few drinks and they were very a compdating. The parking situation wouldn't pit us off going back. The cottage itself was clean, modern and fully stocked in regards to kitchenware. We had a lovely wander down the path to the river at the back of the cottage, saw all the sheep! We 100% will be back to this idyllic village and cottage.
Thank you for finding time to review Tan Y Gerddi. We are really pleased that you enjoyed your holiday. We aim to always do the best for our guests. The shop and cafe in the village are a bonus and of course the Penrhos Arms too. We look forward to welcoming you both again next time you visit the Mach Loop. Property Owner
"Whilst the advice on parking was appreciated it became a serious issue to the point the we left a day early, due to the possibility of not being able to get parked anywhere in the village."
That situation almost occurred the previous evening, we managed to get the last possible parking space but 10minutes later who knows? That included all the main road parking and the pub car park TOTALLY FULL. Whilst the cottage was reasonably comfortable it was lacking in cooking equipment if you intended to do anything but basic self catering. EG: no cooks knife and a totally blunt paring knife but amazingly a good bread knife ?????? If you are going to eat out all the time and are arriving by bicycle or motorbike, it's not a bad option ...otherwise roll the dice !
Sorry to hear that you couldn't find a suitable parking spot for some of your stay. The Penrhos Arms usually has plenty of room and they are so obliging. We do have other suggestions, all close by, which we will add to the information sheet so thanks for letting us know. We have provided lots of equipment for guests who wish to cook their own meals at Tan Y Gerddi, pots, pans and bowls etc. We will however definitely get a set of good knives at your suggestion, thanks. Again,we are sorry that the parking was a problem on this occasion and that your break was cut short. Property Owner
"It's a lovely cottage."
Very clean and lots of little extras I wasn't expecting like biscuits, chocolates, tea and sugar. Well equipped when your self catering but worth taking a few things if you're cooking for yourself as the local shop is a bit limited. The pub across the road has good food at a reasonable price too. Perfect place to stay in Wales, great for the Mach Loop and plenty to see within a reasonable drive. Will definitely book again
"The hot water was hit and Miss over the stay but the owners were right on it and trying to sort it, couldn’t fault them."
The issue was brought to their attention and they were straight on it at 9pm that evening.
Thank you for your feedback scores. We really appreciated you letting us know about the hot water problem so that we can resolve it for future guests. Glad to know that you were comfortable in Tan Y Gerddi and enjoyed your break in beautiful Mid Wales. Property Owner
"A beautiful little cottage for a really reasonable price."
The owners left thoughtful welcome gifts and had a great attention to detail. Thank you for a lovely stay. Would recommend.
Thank you so much for your comments. We were very pleased you chose to stay at Tan Y Gerddi for Christmas. So glad you had a lovely time. Property Owner
"Absolutely fantastic place to stay, I really can't sing its praises enough !"
! Make sure you bring some food as the nearest shop or takeaway is some miles away, there is a local pub but we never got to grips with the opening times, there is also a small cafe about 75 yards from the property.
"We really enjoyed our stay in this cosy cottage - it had everything we could need and it is a great base for exploring mid Wales."
The valley is absolutely beautiful. It might be worth mentioning to turn down the lane by the coffee shop - we arrived in the dark and it wasn’t immediately obvious. The pub is a stones throw away and we had no problems with parking. Thoroughly recommend Tan Y Gerrddi.
"A lovely little cottage in a great location for exploring the area."
All the you need for a comfortable stay provided.
"Our stay at Tan Y Gerddi was very enjoyable."
The cottage is comfortable with everything supplied that you need, and we very much appreciated the gifts that were left for us and our dog. The parking is difficult but we knew that beforehand and we were able to park in the pub car park if we had a meal or two in there - which we did and the food is very good. Any queries that we had were quickly resolved by the owners, Kath & Mike. The surrounding area is lovely, especially by the river. Tan Y Gerddi is a great base for visiting the sights in Wales.
Thank you. We are so pleased you enjoyed your break. It's our aim to do our best for our guests during their stay. It's a bonus for us that the Penrhos Arms is so close by. Thanks too for taking the time to give your feedback. Property Owner
..has everything we needed for our short stay. Good communication with owner, letting us know that we could arrive earlier in the day than planned, and also received a nice text during our stay to ask if everything was going well. Excellent for exploring South Snowdonia. Nice meal in the pub opposite.
Thank you for your lovely comments. We are really pleased that you enjoyed your break...so important that everything goes well when you manage to snatch a few nights away. We are very lucky to have the Penrhos Arms close by and the little shop and cafe too. Thanks again for coming to stay. Property Owner
"The cottage was absolutely lovely, it was very clean and comfortable and had everything we needed."
Although the listing stated that it backed on to the river, which it did, it read as if this was literally at the back of the property, while it was actually along the road and down steps onto a public footpath which was very narrow and rocky in places. The path also only went a very short way along the bank before you were stopped by a fence with no way through, so had to turn back. This is only a very small criticism though as the cottage is in a lovely area and is a great base to explore further afield. I think it is also worth mentioning that the pub opposite is closed Monday and Tuesday, which again is only a small issue, but might be relevant to some. All in all we had a fabulous time.
Thank you for your feedback Diane. Glad you enjoyed your stay in Cemaes it is indeed a lovely area. We will check out the dog walk along the river with our Spaniel, Connie. Last time we did this we could get right along. There's a possibility you went the long way round to get to the Dyfi. The footpath is 20 yards from Tan Y Gerddi. Thanks for the info about the Penrhos Arms and thanks again for booking. We went to check the footpath to the river right behind Tan Y Gerddi and it is accessible. The grass at the sides have been trimmed back. Thanks again for highlighting this for us and future guests. Hope you visit again. Property Owner
"We always enjoy our stays here."
We hope to come back again soon.
Thanks Sarah, always lovely to have your family to stay. Property Owner
"A very clean, comfortable and cosy cottage."
A good base for exploring. The neighbours and village were welcoming and friendly. We'd definitely book again when in the area.
Thank you very much for your feedback. We agree that the people in Cemaes are great. Perhaps it's because they live in such a beautiful part of the world. We would love you to come and stay again. Property Owner
"Cottage first class facilities, clean, well presented and had everything you needed for an enjoyable stay including a comfy bed."
Complimentary Prosecco chocolates milk and biscuits much appreciated. Local shop had everything you needed especially the lovely coffees every morning. Owners kept in contact by text and areas to walk dogs locally easily found. Very quiet at night, pub locally but not open all the time due to time of year. I would not hesitate to stay at this cottage again.
Thank you so much. Glad you enjoyed your break in Cemaes. The complimentary Prosecco was especially for Valentine's week but we aim to give all guests something as a welcome to Tan Y Gerddi. We would love to welcome you back. Kind regards, Kathleen . Property Owner
"This is perfect place for people who would like to get away for a while from the city rush."
Landlord is very thoughtful and was taking good care of us, he is also a pet lover which was a plus. There was no problem with communication. Place is charming and cozy. Almost felt like at home.
"Lovely cottage with lots of little touches that made it feel like a home from home."
Excellent communication from the very friendly owners and very responsive to questions throughout the stay. Very beautiful countryside all around, beach 30 mins away and lovely local grocery shop on the corner that also does coffee and cake. I’d very much recommend a stay here
"A wonderful little cottage in a great location."
Felt at home from the start and plenty of beautiful places to visit in all directions. Thank you.
Thank you. So pleased that you felt at home. That's really important to us. Property Owner
"A really lovely spot, perfect size for me and my partner and a great location to get to the local biking trails from."
Shop at the top of the lane was great too- fantastic coffee!
"A lovely, compact cottage with beautiful access to the river and the surrounding Welsh countryside."
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and appreciated the cleanliness of the cottage, the welcome Welsh cakes and milk, and the communication from the owner who checked in via text during our stay to ensure everything was ok. Would definitely stay again. Parking was absolutely fine, lots of on road parking really close to the cottage.
"Very pleased with this lovely cottage it has been well looked after and had everything we needed."
Village shop just a few yards up the lane and very nice pub across the road what more could you ask for every one in the village very friendly, had a great time big thanks to Kath & Mike the owners of the cottage.
"I loved the little welcome pack for the dog!"
So nice to have a welcoming stay especially that allows the dog. Thank you.
"I would highly recommend booking here, and I have been doing to my friends and family."
Its in a lovely location, with a beautiful river behind for a little dog walk or to sit and relax, I swam in it each morning. It's in the middle of everything, just outside Machynlleth, not too far from Dolgellau, beaches are fairly close and completely surrounded by beautiful walks and mountains. Cadair Idris and the best spot to view the Mach Loop is short drive away. It was spotlessly clean and very cosy. We absolutely loved the layout and design of the place, certainly big enough the 2 and a dog. The place had that homey feel, with lots of nice little touches. The bed was very comfy, we had a great night's sleep, the sofas very comfy too. Though the fire isn't real we still enjoyed putting it on when we came in on the wet days, instantly made us feel warmer. The kitchen seemed well equipped but we didn't use it. Instead we went to a fantastic restaurant up up road, The Brigands. We recommend eating here, delicious food and the best lamb. The pub across the road does standard cheap pub grub, their pub garden is the perfect spot of a pint in the sun. The little shop at the end of the road was great for our morning coffees and we stocked up on some lovely local food stuffs to take home. All in all a great holiday at 1 Tan Y Gerddie, I'm hoping to book again!
"Excellent in every way."
There is no garden but we were aware of that when booking. Very helpful owners who responded immediately to one text query.
"Ideal spot to explore the area."
The river behind the property is glorious, particularly when the sun rises. Don't walk along the bank to the right as its a dead end. The cottage is very clean and well set out. The fire is warm and the sofa very comfortable, though the bed was a bit hard for me. The cottage has everything you need for your stay. The pub is about 80 yards away. Food is good and there's a warm welcome from Shirley and Rhys, and dogs are welcome. Don't park in front of the shop, or you'll get a sharp note from the owner asking you to move. We didn't use the shop, but it looks well stocked. Its about 6 miles to Machynlleth. Market day there is Wednesday. Avoid the Chinese takeaway, truly awful food! The beach at nearby Aberdovey is huge, plenty of parking and a good choice of food there. Would come back.
"Thanks so much for the stay, we had everything more and enjoyed the little touches of bottled milk and toffee waffles when we arrived, they gave us the boost we needed for the final stint up snowdon!"
We will be back! Xx
"Great location, beautiful inside, lovely river at the back of the house with a fantastic walk alongside it."
Excellent communication from the owners which made us feel at ease especially during this time, definitely return and highly recommended.
"Wonderful little ‘Home from Home’, clean and comfortable, shop and pub a short walk away, cottage conveniently situated for visiting the area."
A repeat visit for us and such a lovely break during these strange times. Friendly and helpful owners.
"The cottage is very cute and comfortable not far from a shop and pub."
We enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend it. The owner's were very helpful.
"This is a beautifully created bolt hole for two in a lovely part of Wales."
The property is extremely comfortable and spotlessly clean. Communication with the owners was quick and helpful.
"Very impressed with the quality of fittings and furnishings well above the norm ."
Very clean in fact spotless ,and nice to see cleaning products available for our use in the cupboards . A very good selection of pots ,pans ,utensils ect. There was some tea ,coffee, and biscuit's left in containers , soaps and other bathroom products , the towels were top quality , and plenty of bedding . The setting of the house is in a quiet spot ,no night noises from traffic or people . There was even a dogs lead and collar in case you forget to take yours for your pet. I give this place 5* and the area 5* couldn't fault anything.
"Absolutely loved this cottage, beautiful area."
. Peaceful and quiet. Very cute and comfortable cottage. Lovely comfy big bed, nice bathroom, very clean and well equipped. We couldn't park outside so we just parked out on the main road which was a 30 second walk. We received information prior to arrival about parking which was very helpful. Only thing I would say is make sure you take spare toilet roll with you as when we arrived there was only a little bit on a roll left and the nearest shop is 5 miles away. Otherwise faultless cottage :)
Thank you for your lovely comments. We are so glad that you had a good break. It is important to us that our guests enjoy their stay. Thank you also for letting us know about the lack of toilet roll and now we can make sure that this will NOT happen again. Property Owner
A wood burner would top it off nicely as the electric fire was a bit of a fake. Otherwise perfect thanks!
"Parking was a concern."
"Extremely comfortable small cottage."
Very good standard inside. Great spot for exploring. Only issue was the very strong smell of cleaning products used which were a little overwhelming and had to be countered by opening windows for a good few hours. Easily fixed though!
Thank you Christine, for taking the time to give us your feedback on your stay at 1Tan Y Gerddi. We are so pleased that you found the cottage was comfortable and we can only agree that it is a beautiful area to explore around the Dovey valley. Thank you for letting us know that the cleaning products used were a bit overpowering. This is very useful feedback as we can do something about it for future guests, including yourselves should you want to come back and explore this lovely part of Wales again. Property Owner
"Parking is limited but friendly couple who contacted by text and let us know where to park."
Pub very close and very friendly locals. Comfy sofa and the king size bed was comfy.
"It was a lovely cottage, but I must have read it wrong though, because there was ..."
It was a lovely cottage, but I must have read it wrong though, because there was no garden to let the dog out, so had to keep taking her out on a lead
"The cottage was very well furnished, everything was clean and we were very comfy thank you"
"Super, super place for two!"
Beautifully modernised with everything you need, facilities great and with a lovely sumptuous bed. zzzzz Quiet village, with a pub a stones throw away, very good vantage point to visit the area. Owners very friendly and helpful. Absolutely no complaints, .....will be back! Thank you.
