    “The view from the bedroom window was stunning and bed was very large and extremely comfortable.”

    Location was a bit difficult to walk to nearby pubs as there were no pavements. Cottage was cosy with log fire on and owner was very friendly and accomodating.

The property

A stone-built, semi-detached 17th century barn conversion, adjoining the owner's Welsh longhouse on the edge of Churchstoke, which is only 1 mile from the Shropshire border.

This cottage has a vaulted ceiling with exposed beams, a multi-fuel stove and a charming mezzanine bedroom with a super king-size double bed which can be arranged as a twin on request, which has a large picture window providing lovely hill and farmland views.

The rear courtyard sitting area is ideal for dining alfresco, and the whole property is perfect for a romantic break for two.

The cottage is wonderfully located on the edge of Churchstoke village, which is positioned between the lovely, historic towns of Bishop's Castle and Montgomery.

Montgomery boasts The Checkers restaurant, which is one of Wales's Michelin-starred restaurants, so it is definitely advisable to book a table in advance!

Perfectly situated for exploring beautiful Mid Wales and Shropshire, with Offa's Dyke close by, this Churchstoke cottage is a haven for walking, cycling and birdwatching.

Try your hand at canoeing down the River Severn, or for a more relaxing break visit Mitchell's Fold stone circle and enjoy day trips to Lake Vyrnwy, NT Powis Castle, Ludlow, Church Stretton and the Long Mynd hills.

At the end of an exciting day return to this charming cottage to relax.

Montgomery 4 miles; Bishop's Castle 7 miles.

The historic village of Churchstoke was originally mentioned in the Domesday Book in 1086, while today it is a quiet village surrounded by scenic countryside, on the English/Welsh border. It boasts a supermarket, two pubs and an historic church. A few miles away, Montgomery is a small town steeped in history, with many timber-framed houses, cobbled streets and the ruins of a 13th century hill-top castle which provides panoramic views over Wales. There are more than a dozen individual shops and a good variety of pubs and restaurants There are many walking and cycling opportunities in the area with the Offas Dyke to follow the border between England and Wales. A few miles to south is the historic market town of Bishop's Castle, an excellent place for a day or night out with its excellent pubs, live music and festivals throughout the year. This whole border region is renowned for its wonderful scenic countryside and excellent walks.
