Everywhere care and attention to detail is the norm. Very caring hosts who can be contacted any time also making the stay of the highest order. Can’t recommend it enough. Additionally the setting is just fabulous with the Welsh mountains in the distance and Lake Verny minutes away. It was a shame to leave!

How fortunate to have such scenic walks right on the doorstep and so many places to visit just a short drive away. The annexe itself was well equipped, cosy and homely - lovely to come back to at the end of each day and recharge the batteries. We look forward to returning again once we have the opportunity.

Warm cosy and intensely private with brilliant outside spaces for vehicles-I drove my pick up truck and it was hardly noticed! The gardens and surrounding landscape is exceptional and a delight to view too so the whole experience is staying at a lodge in a beautiful country house. Can't recommend highly enough.

We have stayed with Rob and Helen before and we have become firm friends. The view from the living room is over their lambs so relaxing when you get up in the morning. Plus Tess the (trainee) sheepdog gives endless fun. In the summer you can buy their bees honey. Walking the towpath of the Montgomery canal along with the footpath at the villa to the Llanymynech Rocks Nature Reserve is recommended. Lake Vyrnwy is a spectacular reservoir that is well worth a visit. to walk, cycle or drive around

Rob and helen were most welcoming and helpful. There were plenty of walks locally with lovely views from the Llanymynech Rocks. The cottage was ideally placed to see the attractions in North Wales and visits to the Ponderosa Cafe.

Beautiful surroundings and a large, immaculate garden. Proprietors friendly and helpful but not intrusive. The accommodation is spacious, very comfortable, and generally very well equipped. A dishwasher would be welcome, and replacing one of the sofas with a sofabed would make it more flexible. Very good wifi, easy parking and access, and all on the ground floor.

) The shower was a bit of a problem but once we were used to it we were ok! (The controls were on the opposite wall outside the shower cubicle! ). The local pub (The Dolphin ) served the most delightful meals and the family who owned and ran it were all most courteous and attentive. Would certainly recommend it, and The Dolphin, to any couple looking for a peaceful, romantic location.

2 minor issues: rather limited room each side of the bed and the shower temperature tended to fluctuate and never be as hot as we would have liked. The WiFi was fast and rarely dropped the connection. A radio in the kitchen would have been welcome.

About the location

LLANYMYNECH

Llandrinio 4.3 miles. Owestry 7 miles

Llanymynech is a village straddling the border between Montgomeryshire/Powys, Wales, and Shropshire, England, about nine miles north of the Welsh town of Welshpool. The village is on the banks of the river Vyrnwy, and the Montgomery Canal passes through it. The border runs for the most part down the centre of the village's main street, with the eastern half of the village in England and the western half in Wales. Bound by the River Vyrnwy to the south and enormous limestone cliffs to the north. The cliffs are the quarried face of Llanymynech Hill, and the views from the top are magnificent. Approximately 17 miles away is the historic town of Shrewsbury, certainly worth a visit all year round.

Dogs to be kept on tiled flooring at all times and kennels are provided if needed.
