  • "We had a great stay at the cottage."

A very clean and comfortable place with a lovely warm log burner, an ideal location too

  • "On the whole we enjoyed our stay here."

The cottage is in the centre of Dolgellau and is quiet and cosy. We enjoyed our stay, despite the rain. There were 1 or 2 things that we weren't happy about. The main one being the beds. They were too soft. So much so, that when my husband turned over in his sleep the mattress moved so much I felt sea sick! My 2 x teenagers felt their mattresses were too soft as well. None of us slept well all week. However, some reviews say they found the beds very comfortable - so it is a personal choice, but take note they are very soft! Perhaps when the mattresses need changing maybe owners should think about a medium density one? There were only 4 knives and forks in the property! This was really annoying as we had to wash them up all the time, not just after every meal, but in between whilst prepping dinner, sandwiches etc. On a day to day basis, four people generally need more than 1 knife and fork each. The kitchen cupboards, particularly the drawers could do with a clean out. I decided not clean them myself but laid out what we needed for the week and didn't store the cutlery, plates, bowls away. The lounge was lovely and although we didn't use the fire, I would imagine it would be fantastic in the winter. The kitchen was well equipped and the shower had plenty of hot water. We were disappointed that there wasn't a 'Games Room' as advertised! We had been looking forward to a game of table tennis or pool which is what a games room is, isn't it?

  • "Stylish decor, fantastic location, ample space."

Everything you need, plus great little yard for drying clothes. Unfortunately not a great shower (bath is good) and bathroom is very hard to air (window needs a lock so can be left ajar to release dampness). Beds wobbly, slats dropped out and mattresses not comfortable.

  • "Brilliant cottage and was very clean when we arrived."

Only draw back was the shower. Not sure if it could be changed to a power shower and the bed was little uncomfortable other than that this was amazing cottage and definitely will be recommending. Thanks Jason and Lorraine.

  • "Nice cottage in good location."

Lack of parking is not a real issue. A couple of negative issues - the double bed in the main bedroom was extremely uncomfortable and I think this needs changing. Carpet in hall / stairs has been worn by carpet moths. These issues would definitely put us off renting the property again.

lm sorry you thought the bed were uncomfortable they are only 2 years old and as you know mattresses are down to individual taste . However as the cottage has been closed for 16 weeks due to covid 19 so the carpet issue was only brought to our attention recently, we have arranged for new carpet next week when we are there ourselves . Hope you still had a nice break it is a lovely cottage and area thanks Property Owner

  • "The directions are not accurate."

The hotel is called The Royal Ship not The Royal Sportsman. The cottage is in Wells St OFF Lombard St not IN Lombard St and it would have been helpful to indicate that Lombard St runs alongside the restaurant called Y Sospan. We arrived after dark and it was very difficult to find the cottage from the directions we were given.

Thanks you for your feedback. I am sorry that you had difficulties finding the property. The owner has said she would have been happy to help you if you had called her on the numbers we provided. We've not had issues with someone finding the property before but have now amended the directions to make sure these are clear. We hope you still enjoyed your stay otherwise. Property Owner

  • "Cottage was excellent."

Only issue which is a minor one was we didn’t have information for bin collection days as I think the previous occupants also didn’t have as recycling bin was full on arrive so we weren’t able to split our rubbish so it all had to go in non recycling bin.

  • "Great cottage and superb real fireplace."

Only area for improvement is the shower, it was hot but with a moderate to weak flow - needed a better pump

Thank you for your feedback. The owner advise that due to the rural location of the property the water pressure is very low and this unfortunately has an effect on the shower and toilet in the bathroom. The owners have looked into upgrading this but it is not something that can be rectified by them as it goes back to the water intake at the property. Property Owner
