“I did bring as advised own cleaning materials of antiseptic wipes etc, plus own pillows etc in fact everything that was listed.”
I wiped everything that we were using and would touch. However was quiet alarmed that the shower was not clean, I got quiet a lot of black dirt off the shower door gliders and corners etc. Not ideal under the current circumstances of covid 19, and that there is supposed to be a deep clean after every customers stay. and before the next customers arrival.
On Arrival everything appeared ok there was a nice smell on entering, the cottage and my husband actually commented on it, however after a little while the smell was unbearable, this was from the plug in air fresheners, that were in every room, It was so over powering that it was difficult to breath. I don't like these and they are very bad for your health and especially people with Asthma. I went round looking for them and turned them all off. and eventually the smell disappeared. but then, after a couple of days, we could smell a damp mouldy smell, it became obvious that this cottage obviously had problems with damp and that was why the air fresheners were plugged in and on, on our arrival, These are obviously to mask any smell of mould / dampness.which I think needs looking at.
I did find it strange that there was no recycle facility on the site to recycle, so unfortunately all the recycled items had to go in the rubbish bin on site.
However we enjoyed our stay at honeysuckle cottage, it was a nice little comfortable warm cottage and the kitchen was well equipped for cooking, which often, cottages that we have been to in the past havent been, and the bed was very comfortable.
