  • "Lovely house, location is nice, we had everything we needed."

The only issue for us was that the garden was not at all secure for the dog, so she could not be let out into the garden off lead due to the road being so close and the animals in surrounding fields. Also we could not leave the patio doors open in the warm weather in case she sneaked out.

Our room with the balcony with a beautiful view was cosy but roomy , and the glitter tiles in bathroom were very chic . Kitchen was well equipped and dining for 12 was no problem. Lounge was very cosy and comfortable, and the whole decor in the house made it very welcoming . All the other bedrooms were lovely. Also massive fridge freezer was very handy . Hot tub was very good. Can’t complain about one thing

  • "Arrived home yesterday after a week's long stay at Shady Hollow, it was for my daughter's hen party with family and friends."

It exceeded all our expectations the house is lovely and welcoming, and waiting for us was a large homemade cake which was devoured in minutes. The hot tub was a added bonus and was used regularly during the day and evening. The house is secluded but only a 10 min walk through a pathway into the village, good selection of shops and pubs. We went to the 3 Tuns pub for a lovely meal and on the last night ordered food from Gangi Indian restaurant , all recommended in the information pack in the house. Already looking at dates for next year.

Management were very swift to respond to an issue of potential storm damage during storm Franklin. Beautiful home in a perfect location. The party consisted of a wide age range from aged nine to sixty five and everyone loved the hot tub and the cinema room. The only issue is no Tumble drier and only one clothes maiden made it difficult to dry clothes when 11 family members have been out in the rain We will definitely return one day

The situation was fabulous, with amazing views and very convenient for the town and sports like tennis. The property was good but there were some small bits that spoiled the overall impression, like a piece of fly paper covered in flies hanging from a curtain rail in the lounge and tie backs that were broken. They weren’t dreadful but it tarnished your view of the place, which was a shame. Overall, we had a fabulous stay. Thank you!

  • "Shady Hollow was a lovely house in a beautiful position."

Just a couple of things that might be useful for you to know. The bath upstairs had a ball of hair in the plughole. Two of the double beds were extremely uncomfortable and after 3 nights we decided to check the mattresses and found that they had been turned over and the padded tops were underneath! These types of mattresses are not meant to be turned over. Fortunately the people sleeping in them then had 4 much more comfortable nights!! Also, when sitting in the garden, the smell from the septic tank was really unpleasant and there were an awful lot of flies about. Don't know if there is anything that can be done about the smell but it would be great if it could.

We enjoyed the hot tub and the cinema room. There were plenty of oven trays and pans for cooking. We would have liked to have more sharp kitchen knives and a cheese grater. One of the double beds had a pronounced dip in the middle. On the whole it is a great house, interesting, light and comfortable. We appreciated the delicious cake and beautiful flowers awaiting our arrival.

There was a welcome cake and a fire burning when we got there as well as drinks in the fridge etc. The house is perfectly located a shortish flat walk from Bishop's Castle (one of my favourite towns), with it's independent shops and cafes and it's great pubs. The house itself is lovely and spacious, the garden space great, and we didn't even notice the quiet road outside as we sat in the hot tub under the new moon! We went to the Stiperstones and Michell's Fold stone circle this time. The Long Mynd and Carding Mill Valley cafe and waterfall on the agenda for next time ....

  • "Emma was there to meet us on arrival, having allowed us to check in 2 hours earlier."

The house looked beautiful, with the addition of a Christmas tree! We were left with fuel for the log burner, a scrumptious cake and beer, wine and milk in the fridge. We had a fantastic time in this spacious, but cosy house, made extra special when it started to snow on Saturday night! Our party was made up of 10 adults and there was enough room for us all to get around the kitchen island for food and drinks, even though there is an additional dining table. The open plan feature enabled us all the option of comfortable seating in the lounge area as well. This was our second visit to Shady Hollow (but this time we weren't tempted by the hot tub!) We'll certainly be coming back and have recommended this beautiful house to friends. Thank you Emma !

Emma and Keiran were lovely and extremely helpful. We were delighted with the very tasty Welcome cake. There's easy access onto the path into Bishop's Castle which is a lovely stroll. The garden is not secure if staying with a dog or small children, which was a concern as the main road from Clun is very close, most of the cars were travelling very fast when passing the House, so there is also noise from the road. All in all we had a lovely and comfortable stay at Shady Hollow

  • "Lovely welcoming touches from the people that own/manage this house - they truly wish for their guests to feel comfortable."

Photos of the property are accurate except for the drive - the drive is a weird shape, however, we did manage to park 3 cars plus a camper on, so all happy bunnys :) there is no facility to park off road (just so people are aware) as the house is on a shared driveway which is off a main (but not busy) road. - However, only 10 of us were staying there not twelve that it says it can accommodate. The cinema room would be better if it could seat the number of occupants that the house caters for - maybe removing the display units and replacing with comfy big chairs/seats or even big bean bags? The dining room table again, could be bigger to actually seat the number of occupants instead of guests as the chairs at the kitchen island are a tad low and you are separated from the rest of the group at the main table... likewise there were no keys available for the patio doors to be opened which would've been very useful for when the bbq was in use :) The property, grounds, view and location are lovely and we would definitely visit again.
